CHAPTER 160 WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

Selena nodded. “Fuck, Trisha.” The water did not appear to be ordinary. It was known as “Holy Water.” Hunters claim it provides strength. It also saves lives and cures diseases.” Selena turned to face her friends.

“Resurrect a person or a werewolf.”

“Can this water do all that?” Jade inquired.

“There is only one way to find out, Jade.”

When it was morning, Tyler dashed to the door and knocked. Titus opened the door and welcomed Tyler in. Tyler was panting profusely. It was obvious he had run. “There is a problem, Alpha,” he stated.

Titus had been busy in his office. Since returning home from dropping Selena off, he has gone to Uncle Theodore’s house to clear Selena’s scent. “What is it, Tyler?” he asked. He was expecting Tyler to say something specific.

“This morning, your uncle was found dead in his home.”

“What?” He pretended to be surprised.

“Alpha. I had no idea he could get killed.”

“He may be immortal, but he can still be killed by one of his own.”

“Do you mean he died at the hands of a werewolf?” Tyler seemed perplexed.

“He has a lot of questions. Even former enemies. It could have happened to anyone who despised him.” Titus moved over to the couch and grabbed his jacket. He had left it there last night when Selena returned home covered in dirt and blood. “Have they said anything about how he died?”

“Next to him on the ground was his heart. There was a mug of wine on the ground, but there was no cut or scent, so I know who attacked him and went for his heat.”

“I think we should go,” Titus stated as he approached the door. Tyler walked along with him.

As they got closer to Uncle Theodore’s house, they noticed a large group of werewolves outside. Titus was granted permission to enter the house. As he entered the living room, he could see his uncle’s lifeless body on the ground. The heart was still in the same position as the night before.

He turned his attention to Tyler. “Have you seen Max and Alexander?”

Tyler nodded. “No, absolutely not. I checked around, and neither of them had been seen in days.”

Titus let out a low growling. “What are they both up to right now?” He said it under his breath. “How about the maid? Did she notice anybody entering the mansion?”

“We have not seen the maid. It seems she has fled.”

Titus nodded slowly. He had asked her to leave quietly and threatened to kill her if she revealed anything about what had happened on the scene. He would go to great lengths to protect Selena. “She would have gone a long way. Let’s prepare to bury him.” Titus turned to leave when he saw Max enter the house, tears in her eyes.

“Uncle Theodore.” She dashed past Titus and knelt in front of her uncle. She screamed furiously. She shifted her gaze to Titus. “Who is responsible for this?” She asked.

“Max, where have you been?” Titus used his eyes to look around. He confronted Max again when he couldn’t see or smell Alexander. “And, where is your brother?”

“Who is responsible for this?” Max repeated.

“Answer me. Selena’s coronation occurred yesterday, as did my wedding. You didn’t even show up, despite the fact that all werewolves were aware.”

“Nobody cares about that b*tch, brother. I had a lot on my plate. My Uncle has died. He was your uncle as well. Why don’t I see you mourning his death? Coronation? Selena?” Max had a look around. “Where is she now? Why is she not even here?”

“Max, where have you been for days?” Titus frowned.

Max rose to her feet. “I’m with a friend.”

“You have no friends.”

“How would you know that, Alpha? How could you possibly know anything about me while you spend all your time thinking about that bitch? She occupies your thoughts and mind. So, how do you know whether I have a friend or not?” She turned away from Titus and returned to Uncle Theodore’s corpse. She had been seeing Easton for quite some time. Making plans for how to ambush the pack. She had also told him where he should go to find Titus.

“Make sure he is buried today. I don’t want anyone around here anymore. Titus spoke to Tyler quietly.

“What about Max?”

“Henceforth, she will be staying in the pack house.”

“Alpha. That is something you cannot take from here. He was the person who was closest to them. They would be devastated if you sent them to the pack house.”

“If I let them stay here, they would want to know who killed him.”

“So you don’t want that?” Tyler asked. Titus averted his gaze for a moment, then returned it to Tyler. “Oh my goodness. Why do I have the impression that you know something I don’t?”

Titus took a deep breath. “If they stay here any longer, the scent will come back, and I don’t want that.”

“Did you actually kill him?”

“No.”

“Do you know who killed him?” Titus hesitated. “Oh, you do. Who is it, Alpha? Who are you trying to protect?”

“There is no one. Just do your job and dispose of the body. Get everybody out of here. Lock this place up or burn it down.”

Tyler nodded slowly. “I understand why you are acting this way. Why hadn’t I thought about it before?”

“Tyler, you know nothing.” Titus paused when Tyler spoke. “Was it?”

Titus took a breather and turned to Tyler. “No. She didn’t do it. Estry did.”

“Oh, sh*t!”

“Exactly. Estry and Theodore have known each other for quite some time. He killed Luna, and she had been looking for him all along. She was desperate to kill him when she noticed him on the night of the mating ceremony.”

“This makes sense. It’s not surprising that she didn’t give in to Luna. Luna had always served only as a vessel for her vengeance.”

“Selena was very aware. She’d known all along and wanted Estry to get her revenge. She hoped that only then would Estry be able to find peace.”

“What about last night?”

“Selena attempted to stop her, but she didn’t listen. She put Selena to sleep before murdering Theodore. Using Selena’s hand.” Titus breathed out a sigh. “I don’t know about this bad luck thing because I have never believed in it, but Selena is worried. I instructed her to stay in the human settlement until things calmed down. Tyler. You need to help me. This is the only way I can protect her because Estry will not face any consequences. Selena was unable to tame her wolf, which could lead to her death if the pack discovers that it murdered Uncle Theodore. That is something I am confident you don’t want.”

“Of course. I don’t. I will get everyone out of here and make sure Selena is safe.”

“Are you certain about this, Jade?” Selena smiled as she looked at the rat squeaking in a transparent box. She shifted her gaze to Jade. “Are we totally certain that we want to do this?”

“Selena, this was your idea. Besides, it’s just a rat.”

“It’s a living creature,” Selena stated.

“It was a living animal,” Trisha explained. Everyone turned to look at her, surprised to see the dead rat in her hands. “What?”

“You killed it.” Selena swallowed.

“We had planned on doing that before. Weren’t we?” She put the dead rat on the table. Trisha adjusted her glove while staring down at the rat. “If it works, Selena, everything will change. There will be no more illness or death.”

“But what if it doesn’t?” Dalett asked.

“It will, Dalett. We must believe.” Trisha reached for the red water, pouring a small amount into a cup.

“How should we go about doing this? Should I use it to bathe or feed it?”
