Chapter 159: UNCLE THEODORE IS DEAD

“You’re shaking. Come, take a bath, and then tell me what happened. Let’s get you some new clothes.”

She shakes her head. “No. I need to tell you right now. Estry, Estry...” She was shaking a lot.

“What about Estry?”

“She killed somebody tonight.” Selena focused her gaze on Titus. “Your Uncle Theodore has died, Titus.”

“What?” It was as if he hadn’t heard her at first.

“Estry killed him in retaliation for her Luna Nora.”

“My uncle has died?” Titus inquired, confirming that he had heard correctly.

“Oh. Gosh. Bad luck. The blood. Everything has gone wrong.”

He cupped her face with his hands. “Calm down.” He grasped her bloodied hand and held it. “Calm down." No bad luck will happen. Okay? I am with you.” He could see she was in a lot of pain. “I will take care of it, but I need to clean you up and get you home right now. I believe you should stay there for a while until everything settles.”

Titus parked his car several miles away from O’Brien’s mansion. His gaze shifted to Selena. “You should rest and forget about what happened tonight. Selena, we had a lovely ceremony. That is what you should be thinking about.”

“Titus. This is your uncle I am talking about. You are not upset.”

“I can’t be upset; Uncle Theodore is a selfish man, which is why Estry wants him dead at all costs. He murdered Luna Nora, and she spent years searching for him. All I can say is that he received the exact reward he deserved. I will make sure no one blames you.”

“What do you plan to do? What about the bad luck that will befall us and the pack?”

“Selena. There is no such thing as bad luck, and I refuse to believe what the council has said tonight. He declared tonight a holy night and warned us that getting blood on ourselves would result in bad luck. Do you also believe that?”

Selena took a breather. “I... I’m not sure. It’s your ritual.”

“And I am telling you not to believe them and get a good night’s sleep. I will come get you once everything is in order.” Titus said. He leaned in to kiss her and watched her get out of the car. She waved to him on her way to the house. Titus only left as soon as she was out of sight of him.

Selena entered the room through her window and found it dark and empty. She turned on the light but saw no one in the room. She went to her closet and removed the clothes she was wearing. She reached for her PJs and put them on. Titus cleaned her up before driving her home. He was more understanding than she had anticipated. Selena went to bed, trying not to dwell on what had happened.

The next morning, the door flew open. Jade observed that the bed was not empty. “Selena?” She approached and shook her. “Is this you?” She overheard a moan. “Selena. Why have you stayed so late? Hania nearly found out. There were so many lies I had to tell.”

Selena blinked her eyes and looked at her sister. “A lot happened yesterday. I celebrated both my Luna Coronation and my wedding.”

“What?” Jade gave a gasp. “Are you married? Coronation? With Titus?” Selena nodded. “When did you tell him that you loved him?”

“Only yesterday.”

Jade took her seat on the bed. “Don’t you feel you are going too fast with this?”

“How fast is too fast please?”

“Err...you married at the age of 20 without your family’s consent.”

“Jade, I’m half werewolf. Except for you, my family will not understand anything. Moreover, Mum had already identified Titus as her son-in-law.”

“She believed he was human at the time, not the other way around. Selena, what happens next? Will you move in with your husband? Will you completely abandon your human life to play the Luna role?”

“I meant to let everything go. Jade, I need to accept that I have a second life. I can’t continue to run from this any longer.”

“So you have made up your mind on everything?”

“I made up my mind on everything. Today, you and I will have fun, and I believe I should take advantage of the remaining weeks before Mom returns.”

Jade shrugged. “Who would have thought you would become a Terry?” Jade rose to her feet. “You should be at the table for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Trisha should return from church by 12, and I will gather the girls.”

“For what?”

“To have a good time with you. You should also tell them you are married. They are your best friends.” Jade walked out of the room.

Selena breathed out a sigh. Jade was correct. She should definitely tell her best friends.

* * * *

It was 2 p.m. Selena sipped her smoothie and looked out the window as she waited for her best friends to arrive. “Do you think they will show up?” She questioned Jade.

Jade’s gaze shifted to the window. “They have already arrived.” She smiled at Selena.

When Dalett and Trisha entered the Ice House, Selena’s face lit up. “What is the occasion?” Trisha asked.

“Because the last time you brought us here, you were planning,” Dalett added.

“Well. I have something to say to you.”

“Selena. Did you kill anyone?” Trisha asked.

“And why have you asked that of me? She did, but that was not why she invited her friends over.” Selena breathed out a sigh. “I called you guys here to tell you about some important news. You might not like it, but I don’t care.”

“News? What news?” Dalett asked.

Selena proudly displayed her flower ring. “Guess what?”

“You have ordered a flower ring?” Trisha asked.

Dalett humped, arms folded. “And yet you didn’t buy for us?”

“Oh my goodness.” Jade sighs and rolls her eyes. “Y’all are idiots. Selena’s married.”

Trisha and Dalett began laughing. “Married? Seriously?” Trisha turned to face Dalett. “She said she is married.”

“I am married to Titus. My coronation as Luna happened yesterday. You can confirm with Tyler. He was present at the wedding.” Selena boasted.

Trisha took a glance at Selena. “You’re not lying, are you?”

“Why should I lie about my marriage?”

“Oh, fuck. You are very young. Why would you marry?” Dalett asked.

“To become Luna. Also, Titus’s bride. I love him. You are all aware of it.” She turned to face Jade. “Did you keep the book in a safe location?”

“I brought it with me. For safety.”

Trisha and Dalett remained unusually quiet. They were still perplexed about what had happened. Their friends have married just like that? They didn’t realize this until later. They were also not invited.

“When is the honeymoon?” Dalett asked.

“Werewolves don’t go on honeymoons.” Dalett spoke.

“They do, but Titus and I have not discussed leaving yet. We are the packs’ leader now, so we are needed.” Selena reached for and took Jade’s bag. She took out the book and set it on the table. As she opened it, she cast a sideways glance. “I’m yet to understand why the names are so long.”

“Perhaps we should start from the back,” Dalett proposed.

“Why didn’t I think of that?” Selena asked. She concentrated on the book and turned it over. She gasped as she flashed the UV light across the first page. “It is very different, Dalett.” She placed her hand on it and began reading. “The red water,” she explained.

“What about the red water?” Trisha asked. Then she remembered. “Does it refer to the water we saw? The one I took?”
