CHAPTER 153 THE BOOK OF THE NIGHT WANDERERS

Patricia followed Selena’s car at a safe distance. She has been following them since Azeezat called her. Patrica was informed of Isabel’s departure. This is the only time she can keep track of what her nephew is up to. Azeezat being assigned as their maid was Patricia’s choice. Making Azeezat’s payment double if she tells her everything that happens at the O’Brien’s mansion. She came to a halt and watched Selena and the girls exit the car.

Selena gasped when she saw the building itself. They had chosen a path that was not well known in society. The Organization was located where taxis were unable to reach, only cars owned by members of the family. “This is very big.”

“What do you think they do on the inside?” Trisha inquired from Jade.

“Some kind of ritual? I couldn’t stay until the end.”

Patricia began eating a sandwich from her bag while the girls talked. She had always wanted Selena to know about her family, but she never imagined Jade finding out and bonding together. To her, this was a wise decision. She could not wait for Isabel and her daughters to fight because she had been lying to them their entire lives.

“The keys?” Jade inquired, reaching out her hand to Selena.

Selena took the key out of her purse and handed it to her sister. Jade approached the door and inserted the key into its lock. They were all curious to see if the key was correct. “Did it fit in?” Then they heard a click.

Jade smiled and turned to face them. “Who’s up for an adventure?” She pushed the door open with the assistance of the other three.

Selena reached for her phone as she walked into the large, dark hall and turned on the touch light. She moved the light around, attempting to locate the light switch. Jade found it and turned it on, which brightened the corridor. Selena slipped her phone back into her pocket as they continued their walk.

“Let me show you where Grandpa was preaching.” Jade led the way into the large hall. It was dark, but she discovered the switch and turned it on. The three girls exclaimed in unison. “I was also impressed with how well-organized it is.”

“It looks like a cult,” Dalett observed as she approached.

The girls followed suit. Something drew Selena’s attention and brought her to a stop. She indicated with her finger. Is that a statue? Getting the girls’ attention, she approached it, her mouth covered with her hand. “What the Fuck?”

“Is that blood pouring out of the werewolf’s heart?” Trisha asked.

“Grandfather is a bad person. What is all this?” Selena became increasingly irritated by the sound of blood flowing from the heart into the reservoir.

“That is not blood.” Jade spoke as she approached. “It’s not thick.”

“But it’s red,” Dalett noted.

“Do you think they use it for their rituals?” Trisha asked.

Jade shrugged. “You don’t need to ask me. I know nothing.” She refocused her attention on the water and took a deep breath. “This clearly shows how much Grandfather despises werewolves. Selena, you need to be careful. You really need to be careful with your own family.” She made a clapping motion with her hands. “However, we are here for something a lot more important.”

“And what is even more important than what we have just discovered?” Selena questioned. She couldn’t believe that this was her family’s job. What had werewolves ever done to them that caused them to kill? Then she remembered. Her father. Perhaps they are trying to avenge his death. Things will be bloody if a war breaks out soon. She must find a way to warn the werewolves of what is about to happen, but how will she find her father’s murderer if she simply lets everything go?

“We also need to search his office for more information. We can return here and stare at it once we have finished. We have limited time. It will be 6 a.m. in 5 hours and 45 minutes. Believe me, this is our only chance.” Jade said, and they all left the statue and followed her into the office.

When they left through a door found after the alter, Patricia came out of hiding and stared at the werewolf, her hands folded across her chest. “The Red Holy Water.” She took a deep breath. She could not touch it because stealing from it wasn’t permitted. Her father warns her that if she only wants to drink it for greed, she may die.

She waited to see what the girls discovered next. Things were becoming more interesting for Patricia. If Selena learns everything and begins to despise the werewolf, she will avenge her father’s death.

Trisha and Dalett began inspecting drawers. “What exactly are we looking for?” Trisha asked from Jade.

“Anything relating to my family’s history. It should certainly be in this office.” Selena responded. Just looking around, she can tell they had find far too much in that office. She started looking through walls as if they were scrolls or something from a movie. “There are no gaps between the walls.” She turned to face her friends. “Have you found anything?”

“No.” Trisha replied.

“Just this book that appears to be big and old,” Dalett said.

“Did you just say old?” Jade inquired. Dalett nodded, and Jade rushed over to her. “Give me that book.” Dalett bent down, lifted the book, and set it on the table. The dust was so thick that the girls started coughing. Jade covered her nose with one arm and dusted the book with the other. “Let’s see what we can come up with inside there.” Jade flipped open the cover, which was rather heavy. She was surprised when she could not find anything. As she began flipping through the papers one by one, her gaze met the rest of them.

“What is happening?” Selena asked.

“It’s empty.” Jade stated.

“Empty?” Selena approached the book and flipped it open to discover what was inside.

“It is really empty. But what if it isn’t?” Trisha said. “Things like this happen in movies. Blank paper with messages inside.”

“Invisible message.” Both Trisha and Dalett stated.

“But this is not a movie. It’s real life,” Selena stated.

“First, let’s look for a UV light.” Trisha reached for the drawer, yanking it open. She noticed a light sitting there. She took it and switched it on. “It’s a lot easier than I expected.” She pushed Jade aside and took a step forward to face the book. “Let’s see how this goes.” She turned on the light and shone it on the book, and the words appeared almost immediately. Selena and Jade locked eyes.

“You are a genius, Trisha.” Jade exclaimed in delight. They could not believe they had discovered an invisible message. “What does it say?”

Trisha began to read. “There appears to be a list of names.” She continued reading. Her hand traced the names before coming to a stop. She glanced up at Dalett. “Dalett, your family’s name is there.”

“What?” Dalett approached Trisha to check. “What the fuck? Why is it there?”

Trisha kept reading, then sighed. “So are my families.” She looked at Selena. “It appears that they are all members of the same werewolf-killing cult.”

“This is crazy. I cannot believe they kept all of this information from us.”

“I suppose everything makes sense now, Selena. They had a necklace. Remember? They all owned one.” Trisha said.

“What do we do now?” Dalett asked. “We can’t just confront them.” She added.

“I believe there are still some things in this book that we need to discover.” Selena said.

“What exactly do you propose?” Jade inquired.

“We will bring the book with us. We learn more and take it back to its original location.”

“Are you insane?” The three girls asked.

“This is the only way.” Selena spoke as she approached the book.
