Chapter 131 Chapter 130
Alpha king Kieran.
Under the blazing sun, the battlefield stretched before us as Callahan and I faced off, the intensity of the daylight accentuating the gravity of our confrontation. The first snarl tore through the eerie silence, and with a surge of primal energy, we both shifted into our wolf forms. The transformation was swift, the rustle of fur and bones morphing into deadly weapons. The cold wind carried the scent of impending violence, and the courtyard held its breath in anticipation.
The clash was brutal, a symphony of growls and the clashing of teeth. Callahan, larger and seemingly more ferocious, lunged at me with relentless fury. His attacks were calculated, each strike a reminder of the ruthless training we had both undergone in our youth. For a moment, it seemed as though his skill would be my undoing, his taunts echoing through the courtyard and grating my ears.
"You always were the weak link, Kieran," he spat, circling me with predatory glee. "A pitiful excuse for a leader. Did you really think you could challenge me and take back what's rightfully mine?"
His words cut deep, and for a fleeting moment doubt crept in. The weight of his accusations pressed upon me, threatening to erode the foundations of my resolve. But as the sunlight reflected in his triumphant eyes, a fire ignited within.
"Nothing here is yours. It never has been, it never will be." I growled back at him, lunging at him and tackling him to the ground. He raised his claws uk and scratched my fur, taking some flesh with him and I bit back a pain filled growl as I glared at him.
With a surge of determination, I retaliated. The battle intensified, with no particular end in sight. Our clashes were so fluid, the people who stood and stared couldn't make anything out. My movements became an intricate dance, a blend of instinct and skill. I sidestepped his attacks, my own strikes finding their mark. The tide turned, and the once-confident Callahan found himself on the defensive.
A moment of vulnerability flickered across his face as I seized the upper hand. "You underestimated me, Callahan," I growled, my voice reverberating through the courtyard. "I am the rightful heir to the throne, the leader of the Silvercrest Kingdom. No one will take it from me, not even you."
"Shut up!" He snapped at me and tried to attack but I quickly sunk my claws into his neck, watching as blood spilled out, trickling to the ground and staining my hands. His eyes widened in fear when he saw the wicked look on in my eyes and I sunk my claws even deeper, ready to rip his head from his throat. He struggled to escape but he was already bleeding profusely, already weakened. Evelyn stabbing him with that blade must have destabilized so much.
With a swift move, I took him by surprise, jaws clamping down on his vulnerable neck. His defiant struggles were futile against the inevitability of my victory. As I stood over him, the sunlight casting a haunting glow on our intertwined fates, I met his furious gaze. "This is the end, Callahan," I declared, the weight of my destiny settling upon me. "The Silvercrest Kingdom belongs to its true leader."
I tore his head away from his body, watching as his life slipped away beneath my grasp. Blood spurted from his neck, his huge wolf body falling to the ground, lifeless. I let a huge roar, breathing heavily as I darted my gaze around the huge courtyard that was already filled soldiers, shock on their faces as they watched me kill their leader.
With their commander and leader gone, their morale quickly waned and the tides turned to my favor. Soldiers that were still loyal to me began attacking, killing thousands of Callahan's men. I joined in as well, cries of battle and victory resounding in the entire palace as we ensued in a bloody fight. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Ethan approache me, eliminating soldiers that came his way. When he was close enough, he bowed his head, giving me my due respect.
"Welcome back, Your Majesty." He muttered, his voice filled with reverence. I replied back with a slight growl before barking out my instructions.
"Take a group of soldiers and go into the forest, find Evelyn and bring her back here safe and sound. I'll take care of things here." I told him through the mind-link.
"Yes, your majesty." He replied before calling on a number of soldiers who were busy fighting. They turned to him and before long, were following him out of the courtyard to the forest in search of Evelyn.
With that taken care of, I was able to turn back to the battle and give it my all.
The battle raged long and hard and it looked like there would be no end in sight. But I was too angry at the chaos Callahan had caused that I quickly made sure all of the intruders met their ends. By nightfall, we had captured back the entire kingdom, leaving only the destruction that had happened in their wake. I let out a powerful roar, standing at the highest point I could find at the moment, addressing the guards and people that gathered in that moment.
Already back in my human form, I sweeped my gaze across the throng of people and began speaking. "Citizens of Silvercrest!! Today, we stand victorious against the darkness that sought to consume us. Callahan's reign of tyranny is over, thanks to the unwavering spirit of each one of you.
"This victory isn't just mine; it's ours. Together, we've proven that unity is our greatest strength. The challenges ahead may be tough, but as your leader, I am humbled by your trust.
Let us rebuild, mend, and move forward with unbroken spirit. Silvercrest's future is bright because of you. Thank you for your courage and resilience. May our kingdom thrive for generations to come!"
They screamed back their support, all of them chanting, "Long live the Alpha King! Long live the Alpha King!! Long live the Alpha King!!!" Over and over again. I listened to their resounding shouts, happy that I had reclaimed my throne with a heart heavy with both victory and the cost it demanded.
