Chapter 130 Chapter 129
Alpha king keiran.
In the quiet aftermath of our intimate moments, I sat beside Evelyn, watching the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest as she slept. The dim glow of the cave painted soft shadows across her peaceful face, her beautiful expression a soothing balm to my weary soul. The healing touch of her love had worked wonders on my battered body, causing most of my wounds to heal quickly and the toxins that has been put into my body already flushed out and as I gazed at her, I knew that I had to fulfill my duty and reclaim my kingdom from the clutches of Callahan.
As the first light of dawn crept through the entrance, casting a delicate glow upon her, she stirred from her slumber. Her eyes, adjusting to the waking world, met mine with a mixture of vulnerability and understanding. It was the perfect moment, and yet, the hardest one.
"Kieran..." She murmured softly, reaching out to hold my hands, her body still unclad and so inviting. I forced myself to stare at her face, a small smile adorning my face. "Evelyn," I murmured softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. "How do you feel?"
"Better than I have been in a long time. What about you? Are you alright now?" She asked.
"Much better," I replied, cradling her small hands in mine. The words were stuck in my throat but I had to get them out. Taking a deep breath, I muttered somberly. "I have to go. I need to reclaim my kingdom and put an end to Callahan once and for all."
A shadow crossed her eyes and she rose to her seat, nodding her head quietly. "Of course, you should probably do that. Will you be alright though? You've only just recovered."
"I should be asking you that question instead. I'm going to be leaving you all alone here in the forest, would you be alright?"
"Well, I can always find my way back to the castle. You, on the other hand are about to contend with you half-brother to get your throne back."
"I'll be alright." I muttered, kissing her forehead, and felt some of the tension in her body melt away. As I traced the contours of her face, the gravity of our parting settled upon us. Unable to hold back, u claimed her lips again, kissing her with all the emotions I could muster in the moment. Breaking the kiss rather early, I placed my forehead on hers, gazing into her eyes, feeling the weight of her trust settle upon my shoulders.
"I believe in you, Kieran." She whispered, cupping my cheeks even as tears filled her eyes. "Go get our home back."
I nodded, unable to say a word lest I break down in front of her. "I will," I assured her, leaning in to share a tender kiss, a silent promise passing between us. "I'll be back before you know it."
Stepping away from her, I felt the familiar pull of the wolf within me, the primal urge to protect and defend. With a deep breath, I shifted into my wolf form, feeling the raw power surge through my veins. Letting out a resounding roar that echoed through the cave, I sprinted into the night, my mind set on finding Callahan and bringing an end to his tyranny once and for all.

Running for hours without taking a break, I finally neared the edge of my territory and saw the chaos that had taken over while I was gone. Thousands of soldiers paraded the entrance o the forest, seemingly looking out for me and the atmosphere was thick with tension you could almost cut it with a knife. I laid low for a while, hiding in the shadows as I waited for an unsuspecting soldier to pass me by, seemingly bored of his job.
With one swift strike, I immediately decapitated the soldier, having him dead in seconds. Making sure no one heard it happening, I immediately shifted back to my human form and wore the man's armor. It was a bit too tight but it would have to do till I got into the castle. Making sure I was well hidden, I mingled among the other soldiers and made my way into the castle.
It didn't take long for the others to know something was amiss as they stared at me. Finally, one person caught a clue and immediately signaled to the other soldiers. "Intruder!!" He screamed, rushing toward me. They were a minute too late. Pulling out the sword embossed in the armor, I swung sideways at the oncoming soldiers, slicing them into two. More approached but I continued to march forward, my gaze ahead as I continued to cut down and break soldiers apart.
Finally, I made my way to the palace gardens and even more soldiers surrounded me. Instinctively, I began to attack all of them at the same time, making sure not to make anyone leave alive. Decades of ruthless training had taught me how to handle thousands of men at the same. They soon laid in the pool of their blood, completely dismembered. I let out a huge roar, feeling my wolf claw up to the surface, determined to be let out. Severing a soldier's head from it's body, I turned to the entrance of the castle, body blazing.
"Callahan!!" I cried out, feeling my canines elongate. "Come out wherever you are!"
Other soldiers stayed away, seemingly too terrified to come to me and an eerie silence fell over the courtyard as I waited for Callahan to reveal himself. Before long, I heard the sound of someone clapping before turning around to see Callahan approach me, a smug smile on his face.
"You finally came out of your hiding place, didn't you? Walking straight into the palace. Some nerve you have."
"This is my rightful place, you are the imposter, and you need to get out now."
"It's not enough to just say it. Can you act on it? Who knows, it could just be like the let time when you lost me. You don't want to be embarrassed twice, do you?"
"Stop the idle chatter and let's go for another duel." I growled back. He chuckled for a while, his laughter resounding in the entire courtyard and grating on my ears. All of a sudden, his expression turned grim as he prepared himself to fight.
"If that's what you want, I'll give it to you. Prepare yourself, because this time you're going to die by my hands." He threatened, his eyes narrowing.
I let out a derisive smile. "Not if you die by my hands first." I muttered back before launching into an attack.
