I told her as I pulled her onto my lap. I put my hand on her mate bond spot and hers on mine. You feel this. This is you and me. I touch my mark on her this is saying you are my mate. I put her hand on my mark. This says I'm your mate. Never second guess that. I may be a stupid bear sometimes, but this is as real as it will ever be no Dawn no Sampson. Just Ben and Emma. I will see you for you and not Dawn and Emma. I love you."
"I love you too, Ben."
We stayed that way for a long time. When I felt something just lightly kick my hand. We both smiled.
Someone started knocking on the door. Ugh, I was so enjoying holding Emma to me. "Come," I yelled a little annoyance in my voice.
"Dad, sorry Papa is on the phone he wants to talk to you."
"Why did he not call my phone?"
"He said he did several times, but he got no answer." I reached for my phone to find I had left it on my Harley.
"Tell him I will call him right back,"
"He said sorry, dad, his words 'your ass my office now, ' and hung up." I went to get up, but Emma stopped me.
"Thank you Arthor please excuse us."
"Yes, mom." When he left, Emma got up and went to the closet.
"You're not going anywhere without me, Ben." I did not argue with her. She changed quickly, and we took my Harley to Dwayne's office, which was really Andrew's office. I shook my head; Dwayne really had to get his own office and stop taking over Andrew's every time he wanted to talk to someone.
DWAYNE'S POV
"How long does it take to get here." I yelled at Andrew.
"Dad, settle down. They just pulled up."
"What do you mean they?" I asked.
"Emma is with him." Andrew said, smiling.
"Why are you smiling?"
"It is good to see Emma out. It is good for her."
"This meeting is no place for her." I said.
"It involves her dad she should be her."
"Andrew, she is pregnant and does not have Dawn." I said.
"That is right, dad. I'm pregnant, and you're right. I don't have Dawn, but Dawn did not define who I was or us that all you saw, too?" Emma yelled.
"Emma, that's not what I meant." I said.
"It is exactly what you meant, dad. I am and always was more than just the girl with the silver wolf." Emma yelled.
"Love, calm down. I think he got the message." Cherity said.
"Cherity, I called you here to talk about Thorn.
We caught a couple of his men snooping around. we got them in the dungeon, and we thought you wanted to question them with us." I said.
"I want to see mom and Dammi anyway, but remember, I want a piece of Thorn when the time comes." Emma said. She kissed Cherity and left the office. Let's go, boys. I want to know what he is up to."
EMMA'S POV
I went down the hall to mom's office. I could hear her and Dammi talking inside they had left the door slightly open. I stood and listened to what they were saying before I went in.
"Mom, I'm just worried about her, Andrew said people are treating her different now that Dawn is gone." Dammi said to mom.
"I know, dear, but the truth is she is different, not in a bad way. But different. I don't know where she gets her strength from honestly. If it were me, I could never go through what she has. But now she is not the silver wolf she is just Emma and needs to be protected and cared for. She is not what she once was."
Did I just hear my mother, right? Tears fell freely from my eyes. My own mother thought I was nothing without Dawn. I ran down the hall and down the stairs. When I got outside, I stood there and looked around. This was not home anymore. I went up to the house and packed my backpack. Grabbed some money and my credit cards. I put on my leather boots and jacket. Out in the garage, I looked at my bike. I could not take it. It was too easy to spot. I grabbed the keys for Bens old Harley, put on my helmet, strapped down my bag, and prayed the bike would start. She roared to life on the first try. I headed down the back trail of the mountain into the city. I had no idea where I was going, but the further away from them, the better. No one needed me. The kids were all leaving home. I did not want to burden anyone with looking after a wolf less human. Witch power and super strength did not count for nothing if you didn't have a wolf.
After driving for a couple of hours, I looked for a hotel. I parked in the underground and covered the bike. Then, I went in and registered under E. Winters. Paid cash for a week, then took the elevator up to the top floor. I soaked in a warm tub ordered room service, and I made sure to trun off my phone. then fell asleep crying with the television on some old movie.
CHARITY'S POV
"Ok, Dwayne, see if you can crack them. I will be back in an hour. I have to check on Emma."
"Ok, old man, if they don't talk by the time you get back, maybe Sampson can get them to talk."
"He would like that." We both laughed. I went up to our room at Andrew's pack house and showered and changed. Then, I went to find Emma. I knock on Luna Lizzies office door. "Come in." she said. I was surprised to see just Dammi there.
"Luna, where is Emma?" I asked.
"I don't know, I have not seen her." She said.
"Two hours ago, she came down to your office to see you while Dwayne and I looked after some business."
Dammi and Luna looked at each other.
"If she came here, she never came in, oh mom, do you think she heard part of what you said?" Dammi asked Lizzie.
"What did you say?" I growled.
"We were talking about Emma not having her wolf she may have taken things the wrong way." Lizzie said. If she was standing outside the door listening, " Lizzie said as she got up. She is probably at home, laying down and mad at me." Lizzie said.
I tried to link her and got nothing. I called her phone, and it went to the answering machine.
I jumped on my Harley and went to the house.
"Emma?" I yelled.
"EMMA????? I ran upstairs, into our room. The closet was open, and the drawers were open. Her big backpack was gone.
I ran down to the garage, and her bike was still here. Damit. I looked around. I called Dwayne.
