"I was on my way here to talk to you about how everyone, but Andrew is treating me." I told them as we went inside the house.
"We will have some nice calming tea, and you can tell us how you're feeling and see how we can change how people are being." Simon said.
ALASKA'S POV
I took Jennifer with me for the day to the city to show her the condos and offices. I had just gotten word yesterday that they were finished. we could move in anytime. I just had to meet Rolly to get all the keys and key cards. I hired a limousine for the day when we pulled up. Rolly was waiting for us.
"Mr. Heart, he said, shaking my hand. This must be your beautiful wife. Shall we start on your floor. We followed him into the building, and we went to the top floor. The elevator doors opened. Jennifer turned and looked at me.
"This is our home?" She asked.
"Yes, do you like it?" I asked her.
"Yes, all this space for us?"
"Yes, my love and your mother."
"Mom is coming too?"
"Why would we not bring her? She still needs you and you her. I know this will be an adjustment for you both."
"It is wonderful, Alaska, and your work is down on the other floors?"
"Yes, it will take some time to get established, but we will be one of the biggest law ferms in the city."
"Your brothers and sister will have the same as this?"
"Yes, each will have their own floor they already had the designers furnish them they are all ready to move into."
"When can we move here?" Jennifer asked.
"Right after our mating ceremony."
"Even mother, right?"
"Yes, even mother. Go look around at all the rooms while I finish up here."
"Ok." She said and started to wonder from room to room.
"Is all the security in place?" I asked Rolly.
"Yes, sir, they are downstairs waiting to meet you."
"You better have done a good job of screening each and every one of them,"
"Yes, sir, we did."
"Your one hundred percent position I will have no issues?"
"Yes, sir." Rolly said. I took out an envelope and passed it to him.
"Jennifer, my love, we are going to meet the security then going home to pack our things."
"This place is so beautiful, Alaska." I took her in my arms and hugged her.
"Your mother will be happy here?" I asked her.
"Oh, yes, she will be very happy. We will be safe here?"
"Yes, my love, very safe." I told her. We went down and met the security people. Rolly had no idea that I was a werewolf. So, I found it humorous that over half the security were either bears or wolves. I told them all I would be interviewing them each separately in the next week. None of them became nervous or quit. That was a good sign. When we got home, the others were waiting to hear all about the building and get their key cards. Don't get me wrong, we love our parents, but at almost twenty-seven, it was time to be on our own. We would always come home to protect the family. We were all talking in the living room when mom came in she did not look very happy.
"Mom, what is wrong?" I asked.
"I'm fine." She told me. But I could tell she wasn't.
"Did you get the keys to your new homes?" She asked.
"Yes, Jennifer and I just got back. We are going to go start packing."
"Sounds great, have fun. Don't leave without saying goodbye." She said and went to her room crying.
"What did I do?" I asked.
"Nothing, we are the first to leave home. It's just not the traditional way well except Alaska here." Armella said.
"Seriously, guys, it is not just that, and I don't think it is because she is having a baby either. Something has upset her." No sooner had I said that when Dad came in.
"Hey kids, you know where your mom is?" He asked.
"Depends." I said.
"Depends on what?" He asked.
"If you're the one who has her crying, her eyes out." I said. I will never forget the look he gave me for the rest of my life. I just pointed upstairs and put my head down.
Orson slapped me in the head
"You have a death wish talking to dad like that."
"Do you look at mom like a weak human now, too?" I yelled.
"I don't know, she is just mom. I never saw her as something more because of Dawn. Maybe that is everyone’s problem they defined mom by Dawn instead of just Emma?" Orson said I had to agree with him. Everyone was worried about what Dawn would do. Mom was in her shadow now there was no more Dawn is that what they were seeing a weak person without a wolf. I would go talk to her later. Mom was so much more than just Dawn.
CHARITY'S POV
Well, I did it now, I heard what the children said as I came up the stairs. They were right partly anyway. I now felt I had to be overprotective because she had no wolf, I was so stupid Emma was so much more than just her wolf she still had her magic and some superhuman strength. I knocked on our bedroom door.
"Go away." Emma said, crying.
"I can't, Emma, please can I come in." I begged.
"Why?" She asked. I could hear the heart break in her voice.
"I was wrong, Emma, and I love you." I told her. I heard her unlock the door and walk away. I opened the door and went in. She was looking out the window.
"You know Emma, you have very wise children. First, Alaska calls me out, and then Orson says some very wise words to the other children. It opened my eyes."
"How so?" She asked, not looking at me just watching out the window for the snow. I sat down in the big chair by the fire.
"Emma, I never defined you by Dawn. You are my mate."
"No, Ben, Sampson was Dawns mate." She said, not even looking my way.
"Emma, how can you say that. You are my mate. I feel the mate bond with you."
"Are you sure, I was 17 when we met. 17 when you first saw me. I was your friend’s new daughter. I was 17 when Sampson met Dawn. Sampson and Dawn were mates. Not us."
"Emma, that is not true. I may not have realized it until then, but you are my mate. Tell me you do not feel the mate bond?" I stared to cry. Why was she saying this. Was this a part of her losing Dawn.
"Yes, I feel our mate bond. But why was it not until Sampson saw Dawn that we felt it?"
"Love, come here, I don't know, but we have 10 beautiful children to prove we are mates. I would die without you."
