Chapter 33 TEN MINUTES OF LIGHT
CHAPTER 33 – TEN MINUTES OF LIGHT
07:59.
The red clock appear on every public screen, ticking each second cold and silent, no sound, no background music. Just time passing, naked and merciless.
Raven take a light breath, her voice calm but I can feel the hidden tension behind it. “Prepare local recording,” she say. “If ‘WHITE LIGHT’ turn on… everything still must be kept, must be remembered.”
Niko nod, his fingers slide quick over the keyboard, switch the system to offline storage mode. Lucas stand close to the control desk, hand already placed in key position – not to intervene rush, but only to block if needed. His heart beat faster one beat, though his face stay cold.
07:30.
Internal messages pour in fast, no signature, like silent punches:
“TURN IT OFF.”
“THIS IS ORDER.”
“NATIONAL SECURITY.”
Raven not even glance at them. Her eyes glued to the clock.
“Don’t reply,” she whisper, voice a bit tired but firm. “Just let them talk… to the whole city.”
07:02.
An official channel try to cut in, the announcer voice shaking, but crushed under the red clock like thick glass, no way out.
“They stuck,” Niko say, corner of his mouth slightly up from relief mixed worry. “They can’t get in without turn off the clock.”
“Then they will turn it off,” Kade reply, voice low, full of doubt.
Raven lean closer to the microphone, voice not loud but close, like speaking to each person in the city one by one.
“If someone plan to use the word ‘security’ to justify,” she say slowly, “please speak now. In front of everyone.”
No one answer. Only heavy silence.
06:18.
A new connection suddenly pop up no permission, no hesitation.
A young man appear, shirt wrinkled bad, face pale, eyes red from lack of sleep.
“I… I am at the coordination center,” he stutter, voice trembling. “They arguing terrible. No one agree.”
“Why?” Raven ask, voice softer a little, like pulling him out of fear.
“Because… no one want to be the one who sign.”
Raven nod lightly, corner of her eyes soften. “Stay,” she say. “Just listen.”
05:41.
The stress graph rise high, but not break yet. Everyone heart in the room tighten.
Lucas whisper to Raven, voice hoarse: “They very afraid to leave their name.”
“Yes,” Raven answer, voice low but sure, carrying some hidden satisfaction. “White light need a name to turn on. And they know that.”
05:00.
Raven give light hand signal.
“Turn on the morning session.”
Niko press the button, fingers slightly shake.
Screen change to dark background, only show one simple white line, sharp:
WHO TURN OFF THE LIGHT, PLEASE SAY YOUR NAME.
No place to hide. No way to avoid.
04:12.
Call from the Closed Room come direct, no intermediary.
“R-13,” a young man voice urgent, almost begging. “You pushing everything too far.”
“No,” Raven reply calm, but I feel the fire inside her. “I just asking one simple question.”
“You will cause chaos!”
“Light not cause chaos,” Raven say, voice suddenly gentle yet sharp. “It only shine on those who afraid.”
Silence drag long, heavy like stone pressing.
03:33.
Another voice cut in, older, tired.
“We will issue announcement,” he say. “Not turn off clock.”
Raven glance at clock, her heart beat faster.
“Three minutes left,” she reply. “Speak fast.”
02:50.
Announcement appear timid, only small text running under clock:
“PROPOSE TEMPORARY SUSPEND ‘WHITE LIGHT’ FOR CONSULTATION.”
Niko breathe out relief, shoulders relax. “They back down already.”
“Not yet,” Raven shake head lightly, voice still cautious. “They just looking for way out without leave name.”
02:11.
Internal channel open again, someone voice from Severance tremble but determined:
“I confirm: no valid signature for ‘WHITE LIGHT’.”
Lucas nod, show rare smile, relieved.
“No signature… mean no one dare flip the switch.”
01:40.
Raven step forward one step, her voice ring out last time in these ten minutes, warm and strong:
“If someone think turning off the forum is protection,” she say, “remember: real protection not need darkness to cover.”
01:00.
Clock turn yellow. Everyone in room hold breath.
00:30.
Still no sound.
00:10.
No one dare sign.
00:00.
Clock stop.
Silence fall – but not silence of defeat, but silence of quiet victory, witnessed by whole city.
Announcement appear clear, no evasion:
“‘WHITE LIGHT’ NOT ACTIVATED.”
Niko let out soft laugh, tired laugh but full of relief, like dropping heavy burden.
“They… really not dare.”
Raven not smile. Her eyes look far, voice drop low, carrying deep thought.
“They have learned,” she say. “That light need someone stand up… but darkness also need someone take responsibility.”
Lucas look at the forum connections still going on, slower, but more sincere and deeper.
“Now what?” he ask, voice hinting hope.
Raven look toward the SILENT CORE still peaceful, still bright.
“Now,” she smile lightly, first time in these ten minutes, “it’s turn for responsibility to have name.”
Device vibrate softly – one single message, no encryption:
“WE READY TO SIGN. WHAT YOU WANT WRITE ON FIRST LINE?”
Raven place hand on desk, voice firm, warm and resolute.
“Write that,” she say, “no one allowed turn off memories for others.”
She lift head, look out to the city where ten minutes of light just passed, and the light still remain, not extinguished.
When the document about to be published, a new connection suddenly pop u no permission, no delay:
“I AM THE ONE SIGN FIRST TIME. AND I WANT TO SAY WHY.”
Raven nod softly, corner of her mouth show light smile of relief and hope.
Finally… the name has step out into the light willingly.
