CHAPTER 27: THE HEARING
The hearing room was built up in only twelve hours, so fast that it like a nightmare that come out of nowhere. Too fast for everything to be clear, too slow to blame on accident.
It like a trap that made with care, where white light from high ceiling shine down, make a semi-public space with glass wall and full seats.
Logo of the monitoring agencies stacked on each other like permission stamps, but Raven know this not symbol of truth, but a cover to hide dark plots.
Raven stand in the back hallway, look through one-way glass. Her heart beat fast, not because fear, but because extreme stress.
She feel everyone eyes, attention focus on her, and that make her feel like stand in a fight that can't avoid.
"Light beautiful," Niko whisper, her voice shake a little from nervous. "Enough for no one see dark corner."
"Light can't hide time," Raven answer, her voice calm but full of determination.
"Just make it show up, and I will not let them escape."
Lucas stand on the other side, hand on sealed LÕI LẶNG. On metal surface, E.V SAFE symbol reflect light, cold and sure.
He take a deep breath, his eyes flash worry.
"Severance will hit 'immunity' first," he say, voice low.
"They will say emergency, then say no intention. They will try to make everything look like unavoidable accident."
Kade adjust his sleeve, his voice low, full of warning.
"And they will try to pull you into emotional story. Make you a symbol... to break. They know you weakness."
Raven nod, thin smile on her lips.
"For me talk time," she say. "And you," she look at Lucas, "talk process. We will make them face the truth."
Bell ring, echo in the quiet space. Door open, and outside world step in.
The hearing start with smooth words, full of politics. The presiding officer, a familiar face from the committee, read neutral statement, emphasize "public interest" and "system safety".
Severance sit opposite, three representatives, gray suits uniform, eyes synchronized, like puppets controlled.
"We request activate emergency immunity proposal," Severance representative say, his voice calm, no shake.
"Due to unavoidable circumstances."
Raven step up, her heart beat hard, but she keep calm.
"Before talk about immunity," she say, her voice clear, echo in the room.
"Talk about condition. Legal condition for takeover right require incident confirm happen before action. Pressure data confirmed show mobile tank activate twenty-eight minutes before incident declaration."
She press button, and graph appear time markers overlap, green confirm sign bright.
Severance representative open mouth, but no word come out, his face pale, eyes panic.
Lucas step up, his voice warm but full of weight.
"Mobile tank not water supply method," he say. "It is three-level memory wipe cycle. Salty buffer solution, reverse pressure, dissolve loop. I operate it. And I say it save no one."
Murmur spread, echo in the room, like angry wave.
"Objection!" Severance lawyer stand up, his voice shout, face red.
"Witness have hostile motive!"
Raven raise hand, her voice sharp, cut across.
"Witness have memory," she say. "And memory not need motive. We will prove truth."
She turn to presiding officer, her voice firm. "Request play recording," Raven say.
A voice ring out hoarse, real, no edit: "Takeover right used to hide wipe process." That Marrow. No image, no cut. Just sound, but heavy like bomb.
Severance lawyer turn pale, his hand shake, can't speak. "Recording not enough context"
"Context," Raven answer, her voice cold, "is time. We will prove everything."
She press button again. Screen show: internal order, time markers, biometric signature confirmed via LÕI LẶNG. "Immunity," Raven say, her voice echo, "not apply for behavior not meet condition."
Silence fall heavy and long, like black cloud press close. Presiding officer clear throat, try to keep neutral.
"Committee note. Severance, you all"
Severance representative cut across, his voice too calm, like try to hide inner panic.

"Delay again," Raven repeat, her voice sharp, "or delete?"
Room roar, whisper and discussion spread. Kade step up, no paper, just look straight at Severance.
"Any delay," he say, his voice low, full of determination. "Must include independent supervision. Right now."
Presiding officer nod, approve request. Severance sit back no longer synchronized, their unity broken.
Break time. Hall noisy like beehive, whisper and discussion spread. Niko lean close to Raven, her voice shake a little.
"They calling," she whisper. "To change name, or change seat. They trying to find way escape."
Raven nod, thin smile on her lips. "We will not let them do that. We will make them face the truth."

Raven look at him, her eyes flash worry. "Strike what?"

"Are you ok?" he ask, his voice worry.
Raven look up sky no more rain, only black clouds float. "Ok," she say, her voice shake a little. "Because today... memory stand before light. We do it."
Device shake short message. "COMMITTEE REQUEST PRIVATE MEETING." Kade glance, his face serious.
"Change strategy."
Raven smile thin, thin smile full of determination. "Their turn answer. We will make them face the truth."
She grip LÕI LẶNG, feel metal cold, and step down stairs, ready for next fight.
When Raven just leave hearing area, a private alert pop up no word, just familiar coordinate. OUTSKIRTS OLD WOODEN FLOOR. Raven stop, her heart beat hard, feel new worry. Someone digging up ashes.
