Chapter 156 Amber Will Find Cordelia in the Evening

Chapter 156 Amber Will Find Cordelia in the Evening

Cordelia glanced at her with an indifferent look. "What, does Ms. Martin want me to go to Silverlake Springs with you guys?"

"If Ms. Martin wants me to come along, I could apply with the hospital to go with you."

Hearing this, Janet's expression changed slightly. She looked at Cordelia seriously, trying to read her true emotions from her face.

But Cordelia's expression remained cold.

Janet didn't dare take the risk.

Although she was going to Silverlake Springs, she wasn't traveling with Alaric.

If Cordelia really applied to the hospital to accompany Alaric, the hospital would agree.

Alaric would definitely agree too, and then the lies she'd told earlier would be easily exposed.

Janet suppressed her inner panic and said calmly.

"I'd actually like you to come with us. If Alaric feels unwell on the way, you'd be there to take care of him."

"But I just went to Alaric's room and asked him about it. Alaric said you don't know anything about business matters, and you wouldn't be much help if you came, so it seems he doesn't really want to bring you along."

Cordelia looked at Janet with cold eyes.

Janet smiled slightly, looking down at her watch to hide her guilty conscience.

"I need to go back and pack. I'll be going now. Goodbye, Dr. Stone."

Cordelia didn't respond and walked right past her.

After walking a few steps, Janet stopped and watched Cordelia's figure disappear into the hospital lobby before looking away and biting her lip.

After returning to the hospital, Cordelia went straight to her office and didn't visit Alaric's room again until the end of her shift.

When Robert came to pick up Alaric, he ran into Cordelia downstairs as she was getting off work. After greeting her, he went upstairs.

Cordelia started her car and left directly.

Robert went straight to Alaric's room, knocked on the door, and walked in.

Seeing Alaric still lying in bed waiting, he stood at the door and apologized quietly.

"Sorry, Mr. Hughes, I'm late."

Alaric looked toward the door with a calm expression and said in a low voice.

"Go ask Cordelia if there's anything I need to pay attention to since I'm going to Silverlake Springs tomorrow and won't be coming to the hospital for treatment."

Robert paused, only then realizing that Alaric was still in the room because he was waiting for Cordelia to come give him instructions.

But Cordelia had already left the hospital.

A hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes, but he finally said quietly.

"Dr. Stone has already left."

Alaric's eyes darkened.

Left?

Previously, Cordelia would always come to his room before getting off work to give him some instructions, but today she didn't even stop by?

He was going to Silverlake Springs tomorrow!

Alaric got up from the bed with a cold face and took out his phone to call Cordelia.

Cordelia answered after a few seconds.

Alaric took a breath, suppressing his anger and trying to keep his tone from sounding too angry.

"You're off work?"

Cordelia responded softly, then added a sentence.

"It's the end of my shift. If I don't leave, what else should I do?"

Alaric's eyes darkened, and his hand holding the phone involuntarily tightened.

"I'm not coming to the hospital tomorrow. I'm going to Silverlake Springs. Is there anything I need to pay attention to?"

Cordelia was silent for a few seconds. Just as she was about to answer, Alaric said in a low voice.

"Send the instructions to Robert."

Cordelia pressed her lips together, swallowed what she was about to say, and replied with one word.

"Okay."

Alaric hung up almost as soon as she finished speaking.

Cordelia looked at her phone showing the ended call, took a quiet breath, and just as she looked away, her car rear-ended the vehicle in front.

Her expression changed. She immediately stopped the car and got out to handle it. In her rush, she accidentally twisted her ankle that had just recently healed.

A sharp pain shot through her. Cordelia cursed Alaric thoroughly in her mind, feeling that Alaric was her nemesis.

At the hospital.

Alaric put away his phone with a cold face, looking very displeased.

Robert stood carefully to the side, worried that Alaric would take out his anger on him.

Alaric walked out of the room with a cold expression.

As Robert passed the nurses' station, he happened to hear the nurses discussing arrangements for accompanying doctors on trips. He had a sudden idea and immediately looked at Alaric walking ahead.

"Mr. Hughes."

Alaric had also heard what the nurses at the station were discussing.

"Mr. Hughes, should we hire Dr. Stone to come with us? After all, your condition is unstable, and you need a doctor who's familiar with your situation."

When Robert called him, he immediately understood what Robert meant and nodded, agreeing to Robert's suggestion.

Robert immediately went to arrange it.

After finishing the arrangements, he returned to the car.

Alaric was already sitting in the back seat.

His expression was slightly better than before, not as gloomy.

Robert also quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Cordelia finished dealing with the accident ten minutes later. After settling the compensation, she glanced at her car.

The bumper was already hanging loose.

Cordelia simply called a tow truck to take the car away and hailed a taxi herself.

Her ankle was throbbing with pain, but it was still bearable.

After getting in the car, her phone rang.

Cordelia glanced at the caller ID. It was Joe, the hospital's vice president.

She answered immediately.

"Joe."

Joe's voice was very polite. "Dr. Stone, Mr. Hughes is going to Silverlake Springs tomorrow on business. His condition hasn't fully stabilized yet, so he needs an accompanying doctor."

"The hospital has decided to send you."

"Pack your luggage tonight and accompany Mr. Hughes to Silverlake Springs tomorrow."

Hearing this, Cordelia frowned slightly. Just as she was about to refuse, Joe had already hung up.

She looked at her phone showing the ended call, her expression speechless.

She wanted to call back immediately to refuse, but then thought that if she refused now, Alaric would definitely insist she accompany him.

Who doesn't know how to act first and report later?

She simply didn't call Joe back, went straight back to The Stone Manor, and applied some medicine.

The next morning.

Shadowpine Airport.

Alaric and Robert went directly to the airport but didn't see Cordelia.

He called Cordelia several times, but no one answered.

Cordelia had never ignored calls like this before. A hint of worry flashed in Alaric's eyes, and he called Donald.

Donald was playing with Amber in the garden downstairs. Seeing Alaric's call, he answered.

After Alaric explained his purpose, Donald's eyes darkened, his tone slightly serious.

"Cordelia has been too tired lately and is still resting."

"If your health is okay, don't make Cordelia go with you. Amber will be looking for Cordelia in the evening too."
