Chapter 155 He Doesn't Like Me
Cordelia glanced calmly at Alaric and replied flatly.
"He didn't like me, so we didn't end up together."
Although she lowered her voice when saying this, the sadness in her words was still hard to hide.
Alaric fell silent, thinking that the person Cordelia used to like was foolish.
Such a wonderful Cordelia, and he didn't even like her.
She heard the sadness in Cordelia's words and couldn't help asking.
"Do you still like him now?"
This time Cordelia didn't answer his question.
Alaric fell silent too.
Donald carried Alaric's breakfast in one hand and held Amber's hand with the other.
When Amber reached the door of Alaric's hospital room, she wouldn't let Donald keep holding her hand. After letting go of Donald's hand, she ran straight into the room.
Seeing Cordelia also in the room, she first ran to Cordelia's side and reached out to hug Cordelia's legs tightly.
"Mommy."
"We meet again."
Her voice was soft, with a touch of joy.
Cordelia couldn't help but smile slightly, reaching out to ruffle Amber's hair, responding to Amber's words in a cheerful tone.
"What a coincidence, we meet again so soon."
Amber was amused by Cordelia's words and laughed out loud.
Seeing Amber, Alaric's low mood from earlier also calmed down, and he actively waved at Amber.
"Amber."
"Come over here."
Amber obediently ran to Alaric's bedside. Seeing the needle still in his hand, her eyes showed some concern.
"Does it hurt, Mr. Hughes?"
Her round, beautiful eyes were full of worry. As she spoke, she placed her small hand on Alaric's hand, being very careful not to touch the needle inserted in the back of Alaric's hand.
Alaric shook his head. "It doesn't hurt."
Donald brought the food container to Alaric and moved the table over.
Alaric quickly propped himself up to sit up.
Seeing Alaric's hand with the needle moving, Amber felt a wave of nervousness, as if the needle were in her own body.
"Mr. Hughes, be careful."
Her voice was very soft, full of concern.
Alaric couldn't help but reach out and ruffle Amber's hair.
"I'm fine."
Donald brought out the oatmeal porridge and set it up.
"Eat it while it's hot."
Alaric nodded, looking grateful.
"Mr. Stone, thank you for the trouble."
Hearing Alaric's words, Donald smiled and responded.
"It's no trouble. I'm at home with Amber every day anyway, with nothing much to do."
"Now the business world belongs to you young people. For us old folks, being able to help you young people a little makes us feel we still have some value."
Hearing Donald's words, Cordelia couldn't help but frown slightly.
When the Stone family fell from grace, Donald still carried a huge sense of loss inside.
Although Evelyn was now doing very well with the Stone Group and had quite a position in the entertainment industry, Donald still felt regret.
"Dad, the Stone Group was founded by you, and it was your daughter who made it flourish. Evelyn and I are so excellent because you trained us."
"Your value has already surpassed many people."
Donald was comforted by Cordelia's words. He smiled and tapped Cordelia's head.
"You always find roundabout ways to praise yourself."
Cordelia immediately made a dodging motion, with a smile on her face and her eyes curved beautifully.
"Cordelia is right."
Alaric said softly.
Hearing this, Donald's gaze lingered on Alaric for a few seconds.
Alaric had a good appetite and finished all the oatmeal porridge Donald brought him.
Donald didn't rush to leave either, but stayed in the room and chatted with Alaric for a while.
Amber was taken away by a nurse from the nurses' station.
Cordelia had no choice but to follow.
Before long, the nurses' station became busy.
Cordelia brought Amber back to Alaric's room.
Donald also got up from the sofa to leave.
"I'll bring you oatmeal porridge again tomorrow morning."
Donald said as he was leaving.
Alaric first nodded, then as if remembering something, immediately said.
"Mr. Stone, please don't trouble yourself tomorrow."
"I'm going to Silverlake Springs to discuss a project."
Hearing this, Donald gave a few words of advice. "If you're discussing a project, you'll have to do some entertaining. With your current health, you still need to be careful."
"Then I won't come tomorrow."
Alaric nodded and lifted the covers, wanting to get up to see Donald off.
But Donald immediately stopped him.
"You rest in bed. Amber and I can leave on our own, you don't need to see us off."
When Cordelia heard Alaric say he was going to Silverlake Springs, her expression didn't show much surprise, because she already knew about this from Janet.
She followed Donald and Amber out of Alaric's room.
She walked them all the way downstairs.
The driver saw them come out and drove the car up in front of them.
Donald first lifted Amber into the car, then said to Cordelia.
"Alaric's health keeps recurring. If you don't go with him, there might be problems when he gets to Silverlake Springs."
Cordelia pressed her lips together and said softly, "With Janet by his side, it should be fine."
Donald paused, frowning in silence.
Cordelia smiled faintly and patted Donald's shoulder. "Although Alaric's health isn't great, he's not like those seventy or eighty-year-old business people who are that weak. At his age, he doesn't need a traveling doctor."
Sunrise Valley Hospital had a traveling service.
So many older business people who were still working hard in their careers would hire an authoritative doctor from Sunrise Valley Hospital to travel with them when going on long trips.
That way, if something went wrong on the road, the doctor would know their physical condition and could quickly provide emergency care.
Donald had thought Alaric was going to Silverlake Springs alone, so he wanted Cordelia to go with him so the two could spend time together.
He hadn't expected that Janet would be between them.
Donald's expression looked a bit gloomy as he got in the car.
Cordelia smiled faintly and said softly, "Besides, I don't have time to go to Silverlake Springs with him tomorrow."
"Thomas invited me to dinner, and I already agreed."
Seeing that Cordelia's expression showed no trace of disappointment, Donald felt relieved. "Alright then, Amber and I will head back."
Cordelia nodded slightly, watching the Stone family's car drive out of the hospital before turning back.
She had just walked up the steps when she saw Janet coming out of the hospital.
Janet was startled when she saw Cordelia, then squeezed out a smile.
"Dr. Stone, Alaric and I are heading to Silverlake Springs tomorrow. Will you be traveling with us?"
