Chapter 154 He Is Jealous of the Person Cordelia Liked in Her Youth
As he spoke, his warm breath brushed against Cordelia's cheek. Her ears quickly turned red, as if all the hormones in her body had been activated by Alaric in front of her.
Seeing she didn't answer, Alaric wasn't in a hurry. He just looked at her with burning eyes.
Cordelia's heart was racing wildly, as if it was about to jump out of her throat.
She had no resistance to this Alaric in front of her.
Cordelia felt a bit annoyed at herself for being so weak.
But,
She really wanted to.
Alaric waited for a while. Seeing she still hadn't answered, he leaned down close to her ear and gently kissed her earlobe, "Want to have sex?"
His voice was deep and magnetic.
Cordelia felt her body stiffen, her facial expression quite subtle.
She bit her lip lightly, and just as she was about to answer Alaric, her phone rang.
She suddenly snapped back to reality, pushed Alaric off her, quickly got up from the sofa, and answered the call.
It was Thomas calling.
She secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing Thomas called, otherwise she would have been seduced by Alaric.
She walked outside while taking the call.
"Thomas, what's up?"
Her voice was soft, with a slight hint of nervousness.
Hearing her voice, Alaric's eyes darkened. He strode over, suddenly grabbed Cordelia, pressed her against the wall, and leaned down to kiss her.
Cordelia heard Thomas's voice in her ear.
"My parents want to invite you to my house, and talk about things between us."
After Thomas finished speaking, he paused, waiting for Cordelia's response.
However, Alaric wouldn't let go of Cordelia. His kiss was very aggressive.
Cordelia couldn't help pounding on his shoulders, pushing him.
But Alaric, pressed tightly against her, wouldn't let her go.
Not getting a response from Cordelia and hearing some strange sounds, Thomas asked.
"Cordelia, what are you doing?"
Cordelia felt a wave of panic, feeling extremely embarrassed.
But she saw that Alaric, who was forcefully kissing her, had a hint of amusement in his deep eyes.
Seeing this, Cordelia took a deep breath and bit down hard on his lip.
Alaric winced in pain and let her go.
Only then did Cordelia get the chance to push him away hard.
This push used almost all of Cordelia's strength. Alaric staggered back a few steps, then let out a low laugh.
"Afraid he'll find out?"
Alaric smiled wickedly, mouthing the words to Cordelia.
Cordelia gritted her teeth secretly and glared at him hard.
Thomas seemed to hear the sounds of a struggle, his tone concerned.
"Cordelia, what's wrong?"
Cordelia took a deep breath and responded, "I'm fine."
"Almost got bitten by a dog, that's all."
After saying this, she glared at the "dog" she was referring to.
Alaric just raised his eyebrows slightly. His eyes showed no sign of displeasure. On the contrary, he seemed to be in a good mood.
Cordelia bit her lip and walked into the elevator with a cold face.
Alaric stood there with his hands in his pockets, watching her, his stern face showing an unclear expression.
As the elevator doors closed, Cordelia looked up at Alaric, then quickly looked away.
The next morning, Cordelia arrived at the hospital for work at her usual time.
She had just parked her car when she saw Alaric's car already parked next to hers.
Cordelia couldn't help glancing at Alaric's car. Seeing no one inside, she opened her car door and got out.
She had just entered her office.
A nurse came in from outside and said quietly.
"I don't know if it's a problem with the medication, but when I saw Mr. Hughes just now, his lips looked dry and cracked."
Cordelia first frowned, recalling all the medications she had prescribed for Alaric, then suddenly remembered that she had bitten his lip while struggling last night.
Thinking of this, a flash of embarrassment crossed her eyes.
"I'll go check on him in a bit."
The nurse nodded.
Cordelia took a deep breath and went to Alaric's room after the morning meeting.
She had just reached the door of Alaric's room when she saw a nurse coming out.
The nurse looked quite embarrassed and said quietly to Cordelia.
"Mr. Hughes might have been scared by me before, so he won't let me give him the injection."
"Dr. Stone, I'll have to trouble you."
Hearing this, Cordelia nodded and walked into Alaric's room.
The nurse had already hung up Alaric's IV bag for the day but hadn't given Alaric the injection.
Alaric was leaning against the hospital bed. Seeing Cordelia walk in, his expression didn't change much. He just naturally raised his hand, waiting for Cordelia to give him the injection.
Cordelia walked to his bedside, bent down, lifted his hand, and inserted the needle for Alaric in just a few seconds.
She helped Alaric adjust to a more comfortable position, then stood up and glanced at him.
"Have you had breakfast?"
Alaric glanced at Cordelia and picked up the medical book Cordelia had left here yesterday to browse through. "Not yet, but Mr. Stone said he'll bring it over."
Hearing this, Cordelia felt a bit jealous.
Donald's kindness to Alaric was almost surpassing that toward her, his own daughter.
Alaric noticed Cordelia's dissatisfied mood, glanced at her lightly, then put his attention back on the book.
He had looked at it a few times before Cordelia came and found this type of book particularly boring. Yet Cordelia actually read it as leisure material.
After flipping through a few pages, he discovered that the case marked with a bookmark by Cordelia was very similar to Aurora's case.
"Are you researching uterine cancer?"
Hearing this, Cordelia took the book from Alaric's hands and said calmly.
"Yes."
"I've been researching it for a long time."
Alaric couldn't help looking at Cordelia a few more times.
He had heard that Cordelia lost her mother shortly after birth, so Evelyn and Donald had always doted on her.
She had hardly suffered any hardship, growing up pampered in the Stone family.
Without certain experiences and feelings, most people rarely choose to become doctors.
Someone like Cordelia, a rich young lady who grew up in luxury, would be even less likely to choose this profession.
"I'm curious, why did you choose to become a doctor?"
Cordelia's expression was calm. She glanced at Alaric lying on the hospital bed and said expressionlessly.
"When I was young and naive, I got carried away by love and made a promise to an elder, so I jumped into this profession with all my passion."
Hearing this, Alaric frowned and looked at Cordelia intently.
"You mean, you fell in love with an older patient?"
Cordelia paused and couldn't help rolling her eyes at Alaric.
"I liked her son!"
Alaric's eyes darkened.
"Did you two end up together?"
The teenage Cordelia must have loved him deeply.
Thinking of the gentle and graceful Cordelia also having such a passionate side when it came to love, Alaric couldn't help but start to feel jealous of the person she liked in her youth.
