Chapter 95 Our love is stronger…
Roger frowned imperceptibly, finding the last part of the question annoying. However, he guessed it must have resulted from Karen’s meeting with her mother.
She had been acting weird ever since he picked her up from the office and had he not had that information, he would have thought he did something to upset her.
“Was that the reason why Katherine came to your office?”
Karen nodded, not feeling the need to hide it anymore, but her gaze lowered. Roger’s arms wrapped around her midsection after putting on casual clothes as he sat on the bed and pulled her onto his lap, trapping her between his thighs.
“So why did you lie to me?” He asked, his hot breath fanning her ears. Karen was so ashamed, she began to shiver slightly. “I’m scared, Roger, I know you love me but…”
“No buts,” Roger’s pained voice cut through. “Our love is stronger than anything, kids or no kids.”
“But the design of this house is in preparation for kids,” Karen pointed out. Roger chuckled. “I made the arrangement, but that doesn’t mean it should happen. If it does, great, but if it doesn’t, that’s even greater.”
Love was all about sacrifice, and he was willing to sacrifice whatever dream he had about having a house full of kids.
“Greater?” Karen was confused, feeling as if he was messing with her emotions, but Roger explained it better.
“Kitten, pregnancy has its complications with moments of abstinence and all those medical jargons. Look at the brighter side. No babies mean we get to spend more time together and have more uninterrupted sex,” his finger caressed her stomach as he sucked her neck desirously.
Karen’s cheeks pinked. She never expected him to make light of the matter but was liking it. Roger was thirty before getting intimate for the first time, so that meant something to him.
With her being just nineteen, her birthday and graduation around the corner, Roger’s expectations made sense. Now she was feeling more relaxed and excited. “Thanks, Roger, I love you so much.”
She turned to her right, and her lips met his. “I love you, kitten, and nothing can break us apart,” he said seriously after breaking from the kiss.
Karen’s lips pursed together as she thought about something. “So, you won’t adopt?” she asked once again, Roger shook his head.
If not for Delanie and Tonia’s behaviors, he would have considered it, but now, that was out of his plan.
“After what’s happening with Delanie, and what Tonia did to you, no way. I’ll wait, and if it doesn’t happen, we’ll still have a dozen nieces and nephews.”
Karen embraced him tightly, a tear slipping down her cheek, wetting his shirt. Roger quickly pulled away. “Hey, you are not permitted to cry.”
Karen smiled through tears. “These are tears of joy.”
“Wonderful, then you can shed more,” Roger smirked before pinning her on the bed, kissing her everywhere his lips landed. “You smell so good,” he cooed, pulling down the strap of her dress and sucking her collarbone when a knock was heard on the door.
Both Karen and Roger were annoyed until the familiar voice sounded, “Roger, Karen, food is ready.”
“Is that Delanie?” Karen was stunned that she mentioned her, but Roger’s finger thrusted into her already wet walls, causing a moan to escape her. “Uh, more…” she requested, and Roger gave her exactly that.
The knock continued three times before Roger responded, “Go ahead without us, Lani.”
There was no response, but the knock was not repeated. “Are you sure you won’t fall in love with her?” Karen asked through pleasurable pants. Roger paused his actions and stared into her green alluring eyes.
“Men like me love only once. I knew she wasn’t related by blood to me, but when you left me, I preferred taking my life than sharing it with anyone else who wasn’t you.”
His words erased every doubt in her mind, and she climbed on top of him, pinning his back to the bed. Roger loved her wildness as she rode him like a crazy cat.
The only food they wanted was themselves, falling asleep by midnight. It was only after Roger was dropping off Karen that he remembered the meeting with Destiny.
“I’ll pick you up during the lunch break to meet Destiny,” he said, Karen smiled, her excitement soaring. It felt good to be loved, and memories of last night lingered on her mind.
As soon as Roger reached the Dawson’s Group with Delanie, she voiced her displeasure. “You shouldn’t have told me to come and stay if you’ll not have time for me.”
She thought that living with him, she would get to spend so much time with Roger as they used to do when they lived together, but Roger was beginning to have a headache.
