Chapter 358 Like a Dead Father

Chapter 358 Like a Dead Father

This was absolutely terrifying. At first, Nora thought she'd been scammed. After asking around online, she discovered that medical care here really was this expensive!

Her money had either been taken by Whitney to save Nolan, or completely swindled by Star Creation Media. This trip abroad had drained all her savings, and after her shopping spree on second-hand goods, her living expenses were pretty much gone too.

Where was she supposed to get nine thousand dollars to pay this bill?

Thinking about those second-hand items, Nora suddenly realized an even more tragic fact - she hadn't brought back any of the things she'd spent so much money on!

When she passed out, everything had fallen to the ground. After the ambulance took her away, since she had no friends around, there was no one to pick up the bags she'd dropped. After she was taken away, passersby divided up her things among themselves.

Nora felt like she had the worst luck ever. Why did all the bad things have to happen to her?

It had all started after running into that crazy woman!

Left with no choice and no one else to turn to, Nora finally called Blake. "Mr. White, could you lend me some money?"

Blake asked carelessly, "What? Running short on cash? My money doesn't grow on trees. Why should I lend it to you? Anyone who lends you money knowing it's throwing it down a black hole would have to be stupid."

Nora had already borrowed tens of thousands of dollars from Blake to come abroad, so being mocked by him now, she bit her lip. "I'll pay you back later, okay?"

Blake had a sharp tongue. He used to hold back a bit, worried about Nora's suicidal tendencies, but ever since discovering that Nora was perfectly fine after coming down from the rooftop, he stopped holding back. Now he gave her a hard time every chance he got.

Nora was angry but helpless. Blake was the only one who could help her right now. She deliberately softened her tone and pleaded, "Mr. White, please help me out."

Blake shuddered. "Stop right there. That act doesn't work on me."

Nora felt more defeated than ever. Ever since discovering Blake was loaded, she'd been trying to latch onto him, but unfortunately Blake wasn't buying any of it, leaving all her skills with nowhere to go.

Secretly fuming at this clueless blockhead of a man, Nora bit her lip and said, "I'll be straight with you. I had a little accident here today and owe the hospital over nine thousand dollars. If you don't help me, it won't be long before the police deport me. Once I go back, Star Creation will definitely come after me. If I get caught, you'll lose both your witness and plaintiff. What will you use to win the case?"

Blake, on the other side of the ocean, was successfully convinced by Nora and transferred her sixty thousand dollars.

His heart bled silently. Although he wasn't short on money, every penny was earned through his own hard work. Now look - he'd already sunk a hundred thousand dollars into Nora alone.

If she were a friend, that would be one thing, but Nora was at most just someone he knew.

What a loss!

Blake secretly decided that when Alexander came back, he'd make him reimburse it. This could count as a business expense, right? He couldn't let this hundred thousand dollars come out of his own pocket.

Three days later, at Anthony's estate.

Anthony and Rachel had been waiting since early morning. They were prepared - whether the visitor was friend or foe, whatever their purpose might be, they absolutely had to seize this opportunity to build a good relationship with them.

That way they'd have more cards to play in the future.

It wasn't until noon that they suddenly heard the sound of brakes outside. Anthony and Rachel exchanged glances, both stood up, and walked out to greet their distinguished guest.

Outside the villa sat an older model Rolls-Royce. Though it was an older model, it was still worth a lot. From the car alone, Anthony could guess that the person had probably bought it during their glory days - they'd been wealthy at some point, but perhaps had fallen on harder times now.

The car door opened, and a middle-aged man in a suit stepped out.

The man stood by the car door, a charming smile on his face, greeting them. "Anthony, Rachel."

Rachel had no idea who this person was.

But Anthony stared hard at the man, looking at his graying hair and features that were identical to his own, unable to believe his eyes.

In his memory, his father was a real bastard of a man. He never wanted to get married but got his mother pregnant, forcing him to marry her. Then when his mother was pregnant with Rachel, he announced he was going to see the wider world and walked out on them.

For over twenty years, he hadn't heard a single word about his father.

As a child, he'd asked where daddy was, and his mother always told him daddy was dead.

Anthony thought he'd never have a chance to see this man again in his lifetime.

Or rather, he really thought the man had died out there somewhere. After all, how could a living person not contact his family for over twenty years? Even if he didn't care about his wife, wouldn't he care about his own children?

Until today, seeing this man, Anthony recognized him immediately.

This person was his father.

His father who had disappeared for over twenty years, like a dead man.

Rachel, being younger, had never seen what their father looked like, so at first she didn't realize who the visitor was.

But seeing Anthony's expression and his suddenly heavy breathing, Rachel belatedly realized something. She unconsciously took a step back, grabbed Anthony's arm, and called out nervously, "Anthony."

Anthony pulled her behind him, saying, "It's okay."

Then he looked at the man, his expression struggling to stay calm, and said, "Hello. Have you been the one helping Rachel and me?"
