CHAPTER 18

~Avery~

I walked right into her room as I found the door open, her roommates and her were accessing dresses for tonight’s event and I could not help but feel sad because I was not invited to my mate’s coronation.

‘’She is here.’’ Mira, the mermaid told her and they all turned to look at me.

‘’Hi, Avery!’’ The other greeted and I flashed them a weak smile.

‘’Ree, why are you standing there, looking? Come and join us to pick your gown for tonight, we do not want to run late.’’ She pointed out.

I did not move an inch at all from where I was, in fact, I wanted to turn back and leave but I thought about the cons of such action, so, I decided to change the topic.

I cleared my throat before speaking, ‘’You have fully recovered, I see.’’

Her face instantly lit up, ‘’Yes, I have. I would not miss my twin brother’s best day for anything in this world, besides, there will be a lot of hot guys at his party, I might find my other half there.’’

I shook my head and giggled at her words.

‘’Don’t just stand there, we do not have time to waste, I am part of the royal family, I have to be there on time or else, my dad would kill me.’’ She stated.

I thought to myself whether my father would show up at the event or he would send a representative for our pack, it would probably be the latter and I knew who it would be, I was not ready to see my brother again, that was another reason not to go to the party.

‘’I am not going.’’ I voiced out.

They all shone their eyes in surprise, ‘’What?! Why?!’’

I did not know if it was right to tell her that her brother had warned me against coming.

‘’I don’t feel so good and I am not a fan of parties.’’

As I said those words, flashbacks hit me again, I was attending to the guest as a maid and my brother made sure that I hid my face and identity out of shame.

‘’What? You are Alpha Gray’s daughter; you cannot be absent there.’’ She pointed out.

‘’I know.’’

‘’If you are aware of that, then, why are you still bent on staying here, your family will be looking forward to seeing you.’’

That last part was a fat lie, I was very sure that they would pretend as if they did not know me at the party and Lex would make mockery of me.

I let out a sigh before choosing to reveal the truth, ‘’Lex does not want me to attend, he is still upset with last night and I do not want to ruin his night.’’

She scoffed, ‘’Even though, it is my brother’s occasion, he has no say in the people that gets invited, the Winston’s family were invited by the Lycan, my father, so, you have every right to be there, so, you better bring your ass over her to pick a sexy gown and have a shower then a makeover before we leave.’’

I could not argue further because she had a point, I could use that as an excuse in case, he wanted to attack me, I might just have to avoid him throughout the night, so, he would not notice my presence, that would be a hard task because Alison would keep him occupied.

I would have asked Ashley to hide my scent but it would raise too many questions from her and I was not ready to answer them.

There were so many pretty dresses that I did not know which one to choose from, I had to try out every one of them and I ended up, picking a horse-blood sequin gown with one sleeve, a slash of an opened chest with a split at the bottom of the gown.

‘’Wow, Ree! You look so beautiful; you are literally going to have everybody’s attention.’’ Ashley complimented.

If I only I could get his attention as well, it was the only wish for tonight that he would not embarrass me in front of everyone.

‘’Thank you.’’

‘’Okay, go and freshen up, so, we can get ready, it is already 4PM and I need to be there by 6PM before the event starts.’’ She reminded me.

I nodded my head in response and I left for my room, I was not feeling enthusiastic at all, instead, I was anxious and scared, so, many things might go wrong with my presence at the party but she would not let me stay alone tonight.

I took time in scrubbing my body in the bathroom, I did it on purpose, so, that she would leave me because she would be running late but Ashley being herself did not want that to happen at all.

She literally forced me out of the bathroom with towels wrapped my waist and hair back to her room, she sat me down in front of her vanity table and started working her magic on my face.

It was just moderate, she put my hair in a high bun and two bangs of hair at the front, because she told me that it brought out my eye shape even more and I really looked….

My reflection left me speechless, it was a good thing because my brother would not be able to recognize me and I could hide myself from him.

She left me to dress herself up and she screamed the word, royalty when she was done.

She looked like Cinderella with her blue gown but she was not a blonde.

‘’You look really pretty, Ashley, if I was a guy, I would have asked you out.’’ I teased her and she blushed.

‘’That would not be hard, I can turn you to a guy and you can do just that.’’ She replied.

‘’Speaking of dates, I think, I will be attending the annual mating ball, this year, you should come too, you know.’’ She stated.

How on Earth would I be able to tell her that I had found my mate and he was her brother.

I would just follow her and pretend that I could not find him at the night to fulfill all righteousness.

‘’Sure, I would love to, I am sincerely tired of being mate less.’’ I asserted.

‘’Me too.’’

We headed out of her room and walked outside to where her chauffeur had parked the car, waiting to take us to the Lycan’s pack house.
