SEVENTEEN

~Avery~

I could not wait for school to be over, so, I could check up on Ashley to see how she was doing, classes were boring without her and during lunch, it was even worse, I was lonely because I had no other friend aside her, I was already preparing myself for the peace that I would have tonight since it was his coronation, everybody would be having fun and I will be up all night watching a movie or something.

I lazily walked to where my locker was situated, I had one more class for the day before closing and I was kind of happy about it, at least, he had not bullied me neither has his girlfriend pranked me.

I heard snickering from some girls but when I turned around, I could not find anybody, I shrugged my shoulder and unlocked my locker.

I was immediately hit by a lot of bats that flew it out of it, I screamed at the top of my voice before I fell to the ground, the giggles increased and the three witches appeared before me, their mistress had a smirk on her face.

‘’You were saying about her not pranking you?’’ Kira let out a scoff in my head.

I have not done anything to her recently, so, why did she have to attack me with animals?

‘’Girls, what do you think should be the next animal to attack her with?’’ She asked her minions.

‘’Frogs.’’

‘’Mice.’’

‘’Or maybe, a snake, she will definitely be scared of such.’’ She pointed out.

I gulped down my saliva and tried not to imagine myself being attacked by any of those animals.

I finally decided to speak up, ‘’I have not done anything to you, Alison, so, leave me alone.’’

‘’No, I won’t, not until you move out of my boyfriend’s room, your presence there irks me.’’ She replied me in a high pitch tone that almost damaged my ear drum.

‘’It is not like I chose to be there, trust me, I do not want to be in the same room as your boyfriend, besides, if you are not insecure about your relationship then, I assume that you should have nothing to worry about.’’

I was surprised with the way I spoke; I was so bold that it was like it was not me speaking at all, maybe, my wolf.

‘’Yeah, dumb ass. You would not have the courage to do so, I am doing you a favor.’’ Kira confirmed my thoughts.

‘’Please, shut up right now. You are going to get us into trouble.’’ I pleaded with her as I tried to break the link but she did not let me.

‘’Seriously, Avery, you need to put people in their place, I have had enough of people pushing us around. I hate seeing you weak.’’ She pointed out.

If only I could be like my wolf, we had two different personalities and most of the time, her sharp time usually got me into trouble like the last time that she talked back at my brother, I was punished for days and I did not speak to her through out that time, she promised that she will never repeat such.

She stepped closer to me and I retreated my steps, ‘’What did you say? Did you just talk back at me?’’

She lifted her hand at me and I shut my eyes as I expected the slap that would land on my cheeks but when such did not happen, I opened my eyes slowly to see her hand hanging in the air because of a guy.

He seemed quite familiar, oh, yes.

He always sat with Xander; he must be his future beta.

He was few inches shorter than my mate, he had grey eyes with sandy colored hair, I must say that he is quite handsome but not breath-taking as Lex, of course.

‘’With this video in my phone, I am very sure that you won’t be attending your boyfriend’s coronation, you know why? You will be serving punishment again in the witch’s dungeon.’’ He threatened her.

For the first time, I saw fear in her eyes and it was quite strange.

‘’You know very well how your future mother in law does not like witches misusing their powers to abuse other supernatural, you might as well have a nice night crying in a dark room, nobody wanted you in the party anyways, not his mother or even, his father, the Lycan.’’ He deadpanned.

One thing that the friends had in common was using harsh words on people, they were so hurtful but unlike, Alex, his friend was using it for a good course.

From the way he looked at her and spoke, it was obvious that he despised her.

She freed her hand away from his grip and eyed him, ‘’Are you threatening me?! He is my mate, not my boyfriend.’’

He raised his brows at her before bursting into hysterical laughter that made her uncomfortable but she still had to compose herself because her minions were around.

‘’Mate? That’s a strong word for you to call him, you know. The only mate that everybody in this school and the wolf kingdom recognizes is his wolf mate, get that into your numb skull and stop deceiving yourself, everybody knows that he is just sticking around and keeping up with your nonsense behavior because he has not found her yet.’’ He pointed out.

His words stung her heart and tears were starting to gather in her eyes but she still held her head high which was quite impressive.

‘’Maybe, you all have forgotten that if the so-called wolf mate turns out to be weak like this thing over here, he would never accept her and he will have no choice that to be with me.’’ She stated, proudly.

Now, I was the one who got hurt because her words were actually true even though, she did not know it, he wants nothing to do with a weakling, I am like a stigma to him.

He shook his head before replying her, ‘’Don’t give yourself high hopes, his father would not let him reject her, he knows the trouble that he will get into if his father gets to hear the news, the Lycan hates rejections with passion, he would always tell wolves to build their mate to the person that they want them to be instead of rejecting them and causing unnecessary drama of revenge, bitterness, pain and anger.’’

I froze the moment that I heard that, it suddenly made sense to me why he would not reject me, he was pretending to have not found his mate because he does not want to get his father upset, if I was petty, I would have threatened him with such, so, he would accept me but I did not want that for us, I wanted him to love me willingly and wholeheartedly, I needed it to be genuine.

There was hope that his parents might like me and not attempt to abuse me like the people from my past and present.

‘’Save your speech for someone that cares, he is going to be with me whether he likes her or not, I will make sure of it.’’ She bragged which scared me.

‘’Giving him a love portion would not work, you will only get you and your entire family eliminated from this world, besides, I am sure, he has protection against such.’’ He countered.

‘’If I see you bully her again, I will make sure that Mrs. Ethan sees this, I am not even threatening or playing with you.’’ He told her with a straight face.

I could hear her heart beat so fast due to fear.

‘’Whatever.’’ She responded before walking out on him which left him chuckling because he knew that she had gotten on her nerves.

‘’Don’t try to cry to your boyfriend, complaining about me because it will be useless.’’ He yelled at her retreated figure and she gave him the middle finger.

As soon as she left, I opened my mouth to thank him with a smile, ‘’Thank you.’’

‘’Nah, it is nothing but you are welcome.’’ He mirrored my facial expression.

He extended his hand for a shake and I was nice enough to reciprocate his action, ‘’I am Tyler, Lex’s future Beta.’’

‘’I am Avery, his roommate.’’ I introduced myself.

‘’I hope he is not frustrating you?’’ He asked me with concern in his voice.

Frustrate? That is a mild word to describe the way he does to me.

‘’No, he is not. He is the coolest roommate, ever.’’ I lied with a fake smile on my face but he did not seem convinced.

‘’I know that you are lying but I will choose to believe.’’ He joked and I giggled.

‘’I guess, you will be present at his coronation, tonight.’’

‘’No, I won’t.’’ I replied him.

He perked his right brow at me in a questioning manner, ‘’Why?’’

I decided to give an excuse that was quite reasonable, ‘’I have to stay back with Ashley, she is not feeling too well.’’

‘’You mean the Ashley that I just saw selecting the sexy dresses that she would wear tonight or another person that I do not know.’’ He stated.

‘’Wow, I did not know that she has recovered already.’’

‘’She is a hybrid, of course, she will heal quickly.’’ He pointed out and I had to agree with him.

‘’So, I will see you later tonight.’’

‘’Sure thing.’’ I voiced out before he left.

He was so nice and the complete opposite of Xander, I wonder how they even managed to become best of friends.

There was no way that I could tell him that his Alpha to be had commanded me to not step foot into his father’s house, I did not want to ruin his special night, if me staying away would make him happy, then, I would.

‘’Yeah sure and allow Alison to grace the occasion when you are supposed to sit next to him on the throne.’’ Kira scoffed.

She really hated Alison.

‘’I hate anybody that does not allow me to be with my mate.’’ She pointed out.

‘’Don’t forget that our mate wants nothing to do with us.’’ I reminded her in case she had forgotten.

‘’Oh, he will want us soon, I will make sure of it.’’ I could imagine the smirk on her face.

It was Kira against Alison and Xander now.
