We began giggling as we ran when we successfully got out of school, we slowed down to catch our breath when we were out of sight, I could not stop looking around to make sure that nobody was around us, she seemed unphased like she was not experiencing any bit of fear at all.

‘’It was fun escaping school.’’ I asserted.

‘’I know, right? It was so easy, get ready for the sweetest part of this adventure, want to race?’’ She inquired.

My eyes widened and I started fidgeting when I realized that she was referring to us shifting into our wolf form, I had not been able to summon courage to tell her that I was unable to shift.

‘’I think that is a bad idea.’’ I pointed out, trying as much as possible for my voice not to sound shaky.

She scrunched her brows in confusion and inquired, ‘’Why?’’

‘’We did not bring clothes, if we shift, we will rip our clothes, you don’t want to go back to school naked, that will be very embarrassing.’’ I stated.

She nodded her head in response as she thought about it, ‘’You are right, you know. I should have brought extra clothes.’’

‘’Maybe, if she was smart, she would have suggested you guys taking off your clothes before shifting and putting it back on when you are done.’’ Kira voiced out in my head.

She was partially right but I would not tolerate my wolf insulting my friend, so, I broke the link between us.

‘’So, what do we do now?’’ She asked.

I replied her with a shrugged shoulder, ‘’I don’t know, go back to school and continue this adventure another time when we remember to bring clothes.’’

I made way back to school’s direction and she pulled me back, ‘’Not so fast, young woman.’’

‘’You are older than me with just a year.’’ I rolled my eyes at her and crossed my arms.

‘’Yeah and my brother is older than me with three minutes and he still claimed to be superior.’’ She responded.

‘’That does not even make sense at all.’’ Kira asserted.

‘’Stop it, Kira.’’ I warned her.

‘’Let us at least, explore the woods before going back.’’ She suggested.

I agreed to satisfy her, ‘’Okay.’’

We started walking into the woods as we chatted until we almost got close to the deepest part, I stopped immediately.

‘’Ashley.’’ I called her name softly.

‘’What? Why are you whispering?’’ She asked me.

‘’We cannot go further, there is someone else’s territory, we do not want to be captured by their people, also, we have gone far and I cannot remember the way back home, do you?’’ I questioned as fear started to envelope me once again.

‘’You are right, I did not even notice, come on, let go back, I think I remember the route, I left markings.’’ She stated with confidence in her tone.

I breathed a sigh of relief as we turned back but it disappeared as soon as it came when I saw worry creep on to her face.

‘’Ashley, what is wrong?’’ I inquired as I began to sweat.

She pointed to the ground and started stuttering as she opened her mouth to speak.

‘’The trac-tracks are all go-gone.’’

My heart almost escaped my rib cage when I heard that, we were lost in the middle of the woods with no way back.

Nobody even knew that we were gone because they were all having dinner, gosh, we are literally dead.

I was not going to be petty by putting the blame on her when I told her that we should not come on the so-called adventure because it would not help our situation, we needed to find our way out of here.

‘’Can you mind link Xander and tell him that we are in danger?’’ I asked her.

She shook her head and I instantly lost all hope, ‘’No, he is too far away.’’

‘’But I think he will know that we are in trouble, the twin bond will make him feel uneasy and he might come in search of us, maybe, we should try to get closer to the school while I try to reach him.’’ She stated.

She was right, his twin was not safe neither was his mate even though, he had not accepted me.

He would definitely feel it except he did not give a fuck about whether we were alive or dead.

We started walking when I felt a presence around us, I turned side ways to see a figure behind a tree with a gun pointed at us.

I instantly alerted Ashley, ‘’Hunter, run.’’

He pulled the trigger and fired at us but he missed as we ran, she shifted quickly into her wolf form and urged me to do the same but I was still shy to tell her that I could not.

She transformed back into human form, ‘’What are you waiting for? Shift, right now, so, we can get out of here!’’ She screamed.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I thought that she would abandon me here after I revealed the truth to her, ‘’I can’t, I have never shifted before.’’

‘’What?! You never told me this, if you did, I would have never suggested this adventure in this first place, you know what? Get on me, right now.’’ She ordered.

I climbed on top of her wolf and she bolted off as fast as she could while dodging the hunter’s several bullet, that was until, one touched her and she changed back.

Everything happened in slow motion, she touched her stomach to see blood and I began crying as I feared that she might die and I would be blamed for it.

‘’Ashely?! Please, don’t die on me, someone help!’’ I screamed out at the top of my voice as she coughed out blood.

I gasped for air when I saw the blood, I could not stand it, I feared that I might have a panic attack at this point, my hands were seriously shaking and I wished that I would wake up from this nightmare for good.

I knew that it was a bad idea from the beginning but she did not care to listen at all.

I could hear the hunter’s footsteps approach us and I tried to look for any weapon to use to defend us but I found nothing.

‘’Stay back!’’ I yelled out the warning, hoping that it would scare him but he was unphased by it.

He was almost close to us with his gun pointed at me, this time when a big black wolf with golden eyes chopped off his head with it’s teeth from the body and disfigured the body, it was a terrible sight to see.

I hated the sight of blood…

I retreated back to where Ashley was because I thought that it might be a rogue until he shifted back to reveal a shirtless Xander who said nothing to me but picked his sister and me up and ran back to school with a speed that an ordinary werewolf was not capable of having

I guessed that is why he was fit to be an Alpha.
