SIXTY FOUR

Charlotte

I kept on waiting for him to come even though he already said that I didn't need to. It is already one in the morning and I am still waiting here in front of his room's door. My eyes are getting swollen as I have on crying since earlier.

"Where are you?" I mutter and look down as I embrace myself while sitting on the ground.

"Charlotte." I heard Wayang speak but I didn't bother to look at her. I can't and I don't want to. I don't want her to see me crying like this. "You need to rest, Karsen won't come back."

"Why? How do you know? What do you know? I know he'll come back! Karsen can't see me like this." My voice can be heard that I am furious and I don't know why. I am mad and at the same time, I am hurt. Only Karsen can wash away the pain that I am feeling right. He's the only one I need now and not anyone else.

"Charlotte, you have to listen to me. You have to become stronger, I know how hurt it is seeing the one you love walk away and I keep on telling you that there will always be hindrances to your love story and you both need to conquer it all. I am sorry if I can't help you with anything else, all I can do is to support you. We are prohibited from meddling with people's lives, to help them completely change them. All we can do is to help."

"Why are saying this to me?" I saw her staring at me intently. I know that stare, things must have gone wild now after the revelation that I said to Karsen.

"I can't say it."

"Tell me, Wayang." Both of us were silent. I am still waiting for her response but it seems she doesn't want to tell it. I saw her eyes crying in front of me causing me to feel a pang in my heart.

"It is about Karsen and Kalsey, Charlotte." I clenched my fist, furiously looking at the ground. Did she already do what she needed to do with Karsen? "They—"

She wasn't able to finish her sentence when suddenly we heard footsteps causing the both of us to look. We saw Mr. Valuedo along with Karsen making me get up and run towards where they were.

"Karsen? You are drunk?" I ask and observe him. He is drunk.

"I will help you Mr. Valuedo." I was about to take Karsen's hands when he suddenly pushed me away from him by force which made my eyes widen in surprise.

"Get away from me. I don't need you. Where is she? Where is Kalsey?"

After he mentioned her name, I don't know if I am just hallucinating or dreaming right now. I hope that it is. Why he needed her more than me? Why does he always keep on mentioning Kalsey's name and not me? I am the one he wants, right? Why?

"Let me handle this first, Miss Charlotte. Please rest in your room now. Wayang, take her to her room." Wayang immediately nodded in response while I kept on staring at him until I couldn't see him with my eyes anymore. The door is now locked.

My body dropped to the ground as my eyes widened in surprise. I can't believe it. I can't believe that this will happen. "Charlotte, please. You need rest. You won't be able to do anything if your body is exhausted."

Wayang keeps on begging me to rest but I am not feeling sleepy at all. The pain is the cause to makes me awake. I don't want to leave Karsen's room. I want to stay here. "No, I don't want to, Wayang."

"Then, sorry for doing this, Charlotte." Then she did something causing my eyes to gradually close and making me sleep in just a few seconds.

I slowly open my eyes and all that I can see is the ceiling of my room. I looked around and saw Wayang beside me smiling slightly at me. "Are you okay? Are you dizzy? Tell me what you feel now, Charlotte."

I slowly get up and touch my head when I suddenly feel a headache. "I am having a headache, Wayang."

"Do you want to eat some soup?" Soup. Right, the soup. That is when Karsen promised me, to give me assurance and everything. The time that he got jealous was because of Noah.

"Where is Karsen, is he still in his room?" Wayang's face became colder, she was furiously looking at me.

"Worry yourself first, Charlotte. Your body is getting weak and if you won't rest yourself, you are slowly killing yourself now. I am sorry but I did something to our room so if ever you want to escape to go to Karsen, you can't. I promise Karsen to take care of you if something will happen. Please, stay here. If you are finally fine, I will let you get out of this room and help you with Karsen."

I look at my body and what Wayang had said is really true. I can feel that my body is ready to get weaker. My body is now thin like paper. "I am sorry, Wayang. For making you worry like this."

I heard her let out a sigh and take the bowl of soup on the table. "Eat this, I made that for you. You need to spend in your room for two days."

"T-that's too long."

"It is only the minimum days of rest, Charlotte. I can't let you get out of here after hours. Don't worry, the time here and the time in the outside world is different. Within two days, you need to make your body back, healthy. You hear me?"

I nodded in response and continued eating the soup. "Is Karsen really now forget about me?"

"Not completely but if you won't do some actions to prevent it, yes, he will completely forget about you. That night, all she thinks is that you are his maid, a normal maid. But don't worry, I did something so he can still remember the things that the two of you did as a friend."

I look on the ground and press my lips. That means Karsen only remembers the moment we met, the moment that I haven't confessed my feelings to him. It is better than a stranger to him but that doesn't mean the pain in my heart lessens from what happened last night.
