Chapter 29
Marcella
I was finally happy. I didn't think I was this happy even with Mack. Killian was my everything. A happy sigh escaped me as I looked at myself in the mirror. Killian wanted to take me out for dinner. After ravishing me, we realized we had been at it for hours. We took a nap and woke up to get ready for dinner. I saw a box of this gorgeous silver blue dress and a pair of Jimmy Choos when I came out of the shower.
I swear this man had resources everywhere. After doing some light makeup I found in the vanity, I stood back and admired my reflection. The dress hugged my curves perfectly, the shimmering fabric catching the light in a way that made me feel like a movie star. The Jimmy Choos added an elegant touch, elevating my height and confidence.
As I gazed at myself, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. This journey started with fear, deceit, and death, but now I was content. When I think back to it, I still can't remember when Killian became my whole world, but he was completely mine and I loved everything about him. His strength, his passion, his unwavering support—they had all become the pillars of my existence.
The only dread was Tony. His shadow loomed over us like a dark cloud, reminding me that our happiness was fragile. And the fact that Ana was held bound in our home basement was a constant source of tension. But it was her actions that got her there. Ana's betrayal cut deep, but Killian and I would deal with my sister together. We were a team, and nothing could break our bond.
I was brought back to the present when strong, familiar arms wrapped around me. “You look absolutely stunning,” he whispered in my ear, his breath warm against my skin. He bit my ear gently, sending a shiver down my spine. I leaned back into his embrace, feeling the solidness of his chest against my back.
“Thank you,” I murmured, turning my head to meet his gaze. His eyes, dark and intense, held a thousand unspoken promises. I reached up and ran my fingers through his hair, pulling him closer for a kiss. It was slow and tender, a perfect prelude to our evening.
“We should get going,” he said reluctantly, breaking the kiss but not letting go of me. “Our reservation is in half an hour.”
I nodded, feeling a flutter of excitement. “Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise,” he replied with a mischievous grin. “But I promise you’ll love it.”
Hand in hand, we left the apartment, stepping into the cool evening air. The city lights sparkled around us, and for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of peace. With Killian by my side, I knew we could face anything. Together, we would conquer the world and protect our love from any threat that dared to challenge it.
Killian opened the door to an Aston Martin. It still shocks me how rich he is. The ride to the location was quiet and peaceful and I was glad for it. His hand on my thigh constantly was the best part of this ride for me.
We reached our destination, and I gasped at how beautiful the view was. We had to walk through a small path filled with water up to our ankles to go up the stairs to the most beautiful restaurant i have seen.
I turned to Killian and wrapped my arms around his neck in excitement, “This is so beautiful Killian. I can't wait to try the food here.”
He laughed freely, something he has done almost every minute since we got here. “You will love the food here, You have to try the parmesan crusted filet mignon.”
I raised my eyebrows at him and pulled back to look at him suspiciously. “You were here before?”
His eyes shone with amusement at my question but I was dead serious. “Yes. Many times.”
“Who did you bring here?” I tried to keep my voice as casual as I could but jealous oozed out of my words.
“Marcella, I own this restaurant,” he said with a smirk. My jaw dropped, and I stared at him in disbelief.
“You what?” I exclaimed, my voice a mixture of shock and admiration.
He chuckled, guiding me up the stairs. “I wanted to surprise you. This place is special to me, and I wanted to share it with you.”
We reached the top of the stairs, and I was greeted by the breathtaking sight of the restaurant's interior. It was elegant and luxurious, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of the city skyline. The lighting was soft and romantic, casting a warm glow over everything.
A waiter greeted us at the entrance and led us to a private table near the window. The table was set with fine china and crystal glasses, and a bouquet of my favorite flowers was placed in the center. It was perfect.
As we took our seats, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the effort Killian had put into this evening. He was always thinking of ways to make me happy, and this was just another example of his thoughtfulness.
“What do you think?” Killian asked, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.
“It’s incredible,” I replied, reaching across the table to take his hand. “Thank you for this. It means so much to me.”
He squeezed my hand, his expression softening. “You deserve nothing but the best, Marcella. I want to give you everything.”
“You already do.”
Our waiter returned to take our orders, and I decided to follow Killian’s recommendation and try the parmesan-crusted filet mignon. As we waited for our food, we sipped on a bottle of vintage wine that Killian had selected, the rich flavors dancing on my tongue.
“So, tell me more about this place,” I said, genuinely curious. “How did you come to own it?”
Killian leaned back in his chair, a nostalgic smile playing on his lips. “It’s a long story, but in short, this restaurant was one of my first major investments. I came here to meet with another mafia boss. I saw potential in it and decided to take a chance. Over the years, it’s become one of the most renowned dining spots in the world.”
I listened intently as he spoke, admiring his passion and dedication. It was clear that he took pride in his work, and I felt a sense of pride for him as well.
Our food arrived, and the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, the crust adding a delightful crunch to each bite. Killian watched me with a satisfied grin as I savored the dish.
“This is amazing,” I said between bites. “You were right; I love it.”
“I’m glad,” he replied, raising his glass. “To us.”
“To us,” I echoed, clinking my glass against his.
As the evening progressed, we talked and laughed, sharing stories and memories. For a few hours, it felt like we were the only two people in the world, our troubles and fears melting away in the warmth of each other’s company.
When the meal was over, Killian took my hand and led me to the dance floor. A soft melody began to play, and we swayed together, lost in the music. His arms around me felt like home, and I rested my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes.
“I love you, Marcella,” he whispered into my ear, his voice filled with emotion.
“I love you too, Killian,” I replied, my heart swelling with affection.
In that moment, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together. Our love was strong, and it would carry us through anything.
As the night came to a close, we made our way back to the Aston Martin, the city lights twinkling above us. Hand in hand, we drove through the quiet streets, the promise of a bright future ahead of us.
