54|Still the clumsy chick.-1
"I am here! I am here." I frowned as the voice was not Elliot's. The person ran towards me, huffing in exhaustion. He crouched and panted while I just stared at the mop of blond with confusion. And then, he looked up. My breath hitched. I never said that her breath hitched because of another heartbreak. Maybe it was because of another heartbreakingly beautiful male specimen He was undoubtedly perfect definition of the word perfection even with a few cuts on cheek and eyebrows. His dirty blond hair were messed up and just a tad bit overgrown. His forest green eyes looked at me as if he was trying to remember every detail and when they connected with my blue eyes, a spark travelled from them and I felt my toes curl. He looked at me as if he could see right through my soul. As if he knew the secrets that even I was unaware of. I skillfully broke the spell and averted my eyes but they ended up falling on his perfect heart shaped lips that slowly lifted into a small smirk. 1 word to describe him. Wow. A round of applause for Astrid or Cygnet for noticing a guy in given conditions. "Uh-?" I questioned. "Hey, duckling." He waved me with a cheesy smile and suddenly, I didn't like him anymore. "Who the hell-" "Ian!" I looked back at a happy Alex. "Will you open the door first?!" Rose snapped with a small smile as he rolled his eyes and freed us. "Elliot and rest of my friends are handling the Cross's, we need to run away right now." There were 2 men beside him and on close inspection the three of them looked like they were SWAT or something. He jiggled open the bars and I almost toppled because of my hold on it. "Still the clumsy chick." He tsked and I glared at him. "I play soccer! I am not clumsy!" "Riiiight." "Some things never change." I heard Alex mutter and I turned towards him with a questioning glare. He held his hand up in surrender. "We don't have time for all this, Ian. Let's go." One of the two men pointed out and he nodded. Suddenly things turned serious as the 3 men took guns out of waist band and handed them to Alex, Rose, Zach, Margaret, Beatrice and Asher. "Behind me, princess." "I can protect myself." "I can see that." He retorted sarcastically and I felt like ripping his stupid hair out of his scalp. Thankfully Felix held me as he chuckled. "We know you can, Astrid. But for now, listen to the guy." I huffed and sulked as the green eyed boy smirked at me. "Whatever." I rolled my eyes and gasped when Ian grabbed my hand like it was the most natural thing in this world before guiding me behind his back. I clamped my mouth shut. We hurried past the narrow hallway in right side of the prison I was kept in and after taking a sharp right, we saw a huge metal bar gate that gave a view of outside world. We ran towards it but Ian took an unexpected left towards the stairs. "The door is locked. We have to take the stairs. Stay focused because we are about to enter a warzone!" he yelled. "Take covers as soon as you reach the last step!" one of the men yelled and everyone nodded. "You have to stay with me, Cygnet." My eyes widened. "No! Felix and Liam are armless too! If they get-" "Stop worrying about us for a second, Astrid!" Liam yelled. "Sorry." I mumbled as we kept taking cautious steps. "What did I say about saying sorry?" "Sorry, I forgot." I apologized and then winced at my own mistake. I looked back at Liam and sighed as he was shaking his head with a small smile. "Focus." Ian's hand tightened on my wrist and I bit my lip to hold back a wince. "Dude, you are hurting her." Felix snapped and Ian looked back at my wrist before hastily letting go. "Sorry." he whispered and I nodded. "Here we go." The men with a buzz cut informed just as we were about to enter a brightly lit hallway. We immediately took cover behind the walls next to entrance. From my peripheral vision, I saw Alex nod and hand signal everyone. Margaret, Beatrice, Rose and one of the two men, crouched and took cover behind whatever they could find before getting notice. Sound of gun shots followed immediately and I mentally prayed for all my friends. "Clear!" I heard Margaret's voice after few seconds of silence. "Let's go." Ian took my hand again. "Crouch and follow me." I nodded. Together we all crouched and ran down another hallway as the armed people covered us. Out of nowhere, a group of 10 men popped out with guns and knives from both sides. "Duck!" I heard Asher yell just before the shooting started. I ducked behind a pillar just like everyone. They all started retaliating and in my panicked stance, I saw Felix and Liam behind wooden decorative table. Felix looked torn between picking up the decorative sword while all I saw was the knife clad man approaching Liam's back. "Felix, save Liam!" I shouted with all my might. This was enough for him to quickly grab the sword and take a 180 degree turn with the blade on circumference. The sword slashed the attacker's chest skin and when he whimpered in pain, Felix used a kick that caused the attacker to fall down. I saw his hands shaking terribly. I guess that he never had to use his skills out of championships and hence instead of stabbing his enemy with sword, he kicked him. "You okay?" Felix asked Liam in a breathless whisper and Liam nodded hesitantly. They both immediately looked away. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
