53|Truths and sorries

Tension was sparking the air but everyone stayed silent. I didn't expect anything more until my brother decided to break it. "You know what?! I can't take it! I don't care anymore. I am done hurting you and getting hurt. I am done seeing hate in your eyes for me. It's better to die than bearing this!" Alex exclaimed in pure hurt and passed a frustrated hand through his hair before beginning. I looked up. My eyes found their identical ones and the moment they did, they refused to look away. This however, encouraged him to speak. "It was our 6th birthday and it was your turn to pick the venue for celebration. You chose Disney land." A small smile graced every Law and Arrow's face. "Mum dad agreed and we flew to LA even when we were a week away from dad's coronation." He sighed and passed a hand through his hair. I noticed rest of blood stained plaid shirt around his bicep and leg. "You never liked Crystal or Ian. You were too possessive of me." I almost snorted. I was always possessive of my brothers, wasn't I? "So that day, we had a fight. You didn't want to travel with them and I didn't want to travel without them. I won. At last moment, I got out of car to wait for a new ride to take me, Crystal and Ian." He sighed. "Next thing I know, a Law loyal hid three of us in hotel, saying something about attack. Knights betrayed Law along with Hunter and Cross. Our own cousin helped them." I wanted to defend Elliot but pressed my lips shut. "Dad was a proud prince. Dying in hands of enemy was last thing on his list so he crashed the car from the bridge. Everybody thought that all of us died but word went out that young prince wasn't in the car. They searched for me but uncle Jasper managed to fly me back home. Elliot never let his family leave the hotel, after all. Uncle overheard his phone call where he was telling the enemies about my location and out of fury, he disowned him." My cousins looked away. "I was hidden and protected for 5 years along with Crystal and Ian. We were sent out of Kovorelle by diverting the attention towards a house fire." He sighed. "I never believed that you died, Cygnet. It took Crystal and Ian years to convince me that you died but I never believed it. The small rumour of you being alive made me blow my cover to find you. I-I love you swan. W-Whatever I did, was for your own good." I was silent. Everyone was silent. But eyes, each pair of eye in the room was pleading me. I gulped and looked away. "H-How did I b-became a P-Parker?" It was Asher's turn to speak. "M-Mom was out that day to get her car checked. As you know, she was deeply into politics, she knew about Law. All I know about that night is that I was playing with Aiden and our neighbour came to pick us up saying that mom was hurt. When we reached hospital, she was in ICU because of 3rd degree burns." He took a sharp breath while I couldn't even breathe. "Doctors declared her dead after an hour." I couldn't help. I let out a whimper as Asher sobbed. He immediately got up, stretching his chains and buried my head in his chest as he stoked my hair. "T-They said that she h-had a girl with her in the c-car. We were c-confused. Dad took us t-to see you a-and first thing A-Aiden said was 'is she the girl from mum's tummy?' Dad didn't reply. He l-left us with y-you as he went out to t-talk to cops. Turns out, while trying to dodge a speedy car, mom c-crashed into a tree. D-Dad was heartbroken. I remember how he was sitting in one of the chairs in your r-room trying to figure out w-who you are with lifeless eyes. I and Aiden were still unaware of gravity of situation. I-I out of my joy, p-played mom's last v-voicemails to d-dad from dad's phone." I cried in pain and hugged him tighter. "T-There was panic in her voice. S-She was talking about h-how Princess Orion threw y-you out of t-the car before they turned f-for bridge. She said that Princess yelled a pleading to my m-mom- 'you'll be mother too, save my baby swan.' Mom hid you in her car but you were barely conscious. The fall made you hit your head badly. One of the chasers saw mom and followed her. She was dodging him when she crashed. T-The fire in c-car chased the enemy away. The last one of total 6 v-voicemails was filled w-with her s-screams. Her l-last words w-were 'save her'." That was enough to break me down again as I shattered in Asher's arms. Soon, I felt another set of arms, then another, then another. It was a group hug and every single one had tears in their eyes. How am I supposed to stay mad when they have been through the same thing as me? I know I was hurt but they were broken even before I learned the true sense of this word, yet they spent their lifetime to love me and protect me from dark. How can I hate them? "I-I a-am so-sorry." I whispered and the hold tightened. And just like that, a series of 'we're sorry', 'it's alright', 'not your fault' and 'we'll be fine', started. "It's tomorrow." I whispered in defeat. Suddenly, I was cold. Everyone pulled away. "What's tomorrow?" Felix asked in confusion and I sighed. "They will take us away for the treasure tomorrow." Every eye widened and Alex gulped. "Shit." I have a feeling that he was worried for something else too. "You both just emotionally connected. Shit." "Eh?" "Forget it. We'll be alright." Alex assured with a shaky smile. I nodded gingerly. "W-Where is A-Aiden?" "He was our back up. These people captured us but Aiden and Liz managed to escape." Crystal replied. "Hopefully they will get us back up before tomorrow." Beatrice muttered and everyone nodded. Hopefully he will forgive me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "What is happening?!" Beatrice screamed and Alex tightened his arms around me as I woke up due to gunshots. "I-I have no freaking clue!" Zach covered Beatrice in his arms. "I do." I licked my lips as I connected two and two together. Alex loosened his hold and I slid the keys that Elliot sneaked towards me, out of Aiden's hood. "Is that-" Liam looked at the keys in awe and I nodded. "It is." I opened Alex's handcuffs and shackles and he immediately jumped on his feet to free the rest of us. "Where did you get-" "Elliot." He froze midsentence and mid-freeing Margaret as everyone looked at me as if I lost my mind. I rolled my eyes. "It's kind of depressing that you all have so little faith in him." I sassed and ran towards the bars. I held them tightly as I tried to peep out. I heard a couple more gunshots and saw a few of my guards falling down. I almost threw up at idea of death. Looking around, I saw no more guards. Shouldn't they increase security around the people who are the reason for this attack? But oh well, am I complaining? Nah. "Elliot!" I screamed as I caught silhouette of someone. "Elliot! Is that you?!" "I am here! I am here." I frowned as the voice was not Elliot's. The person ran towards me, huffing in exhaustion. He crouched and panted while I just stared at the mop of blond with confusion. And then, he looked up. My breath hitched.
