Chapter 38
Chapter 39
Brian’s Pov
As I watched her sleep my thoughts crept back to earlier today and how happy she was picking out all of the things for our boys. I smiled at the thought of having two beautiful children with her. I had everything I had ever wanted and it all felt too surreal and I loved it. I wanted it to last forever. I knew that this was only the beginning because once I held those babies in my arms it would be like a dream come to life. A soft knock on the door brought me back.
“ Give me a second.” I said softly so I wouldn’t wake Faith. I pulled on some pants and opened the door to see Marcus standing on the other side.
“ Can you come downstairs with me for a minute to talk?” he whispered.
“ Sure.” I said softly, closing the door. I followed him down to the kitchen and he had coffee ready and poured me a cup. I sat down on one side of the table and he sat across from me.
“ What’s up? Is something wrong?” I asked hoping that my happiness wouldn’t be destroyed.
“ Nothing is wrong necessarily. I came to see if you knew Faith had come to me and asked me to have a threesome with you both once a week.”
I definitely did not know she had asked. I was so confused as to why she would because we were doing great. I didn’t know if I should be hurt or be blessed to have someone who considers how I feel too. “ No, she didn’t tell me. The other night was supposed to be a one time thing and it was hard for her before we did it, but she seemed to really like it after it happened. We agreed because it was a one time thing that we would buy toys and we did. Lots and lots of toys.” I said grinning to myself thinking about how she would use them all.
“ Well after she came to me my wife was kind of relieved because although I can please my wife sometimes the passion dissipates when I haven’t had a little man action in a while because of everything that I’ve been through. If you are willing to accept me into your bed once a week or even once every two weeks I would be grateful. We could even use some of those toys” he said, grinning from across the table in the dimly lit room.
I hated this and loved it all at the same time, but I knew he was right. I didn’t want to just be able to please Faith. I wanted her to feel everything I had to give and I knew she wouldn’t if my mind was somewhere else. “ We can do it. We can start with once every two weeks and go from there. I’m going up to get some rest and I suggest you do the same because tomorrow night we aren’t going to get any.” I got up from the table and went back up to the bedroom to be with Faith.
The next morning I woke before Faith and I just figured she was tired from the day before. I quietly got out of bed still in my boxer shorts and pulled out my guitar. I crept downstairs because it was still early morning and everyone was still in bed. I sat down in a kitchen chair and began strumming my guitar. I wrote down notes on the back of an opened electric bill envelope. Then I played my guitar and sang the words I had written to see if it fit. “ From the moment I knew of your existence I knew my life had changed. The world around me stopped and I knew God gave me the most precious gift. You would have your momma’s eyes and my smile.” Once I was happy with it I took my piece of paper and guitar back upstairs so I could dress and make breakfast for everyone. As I was dressing Faith rolled over and reached for my hand. I took it and kissed it.
“ What would you like me to make for breakfast this morning?”
“ I’m really not hungry. I don’t feel very good.” she said, holding her stomach.
“ Do you need anything?” I asked her as I started to inwardly freak out.
“ Can I just stay up here for a while?”
I climbed into bed next to her and kissed her forehead. She wasn't hot but she was clammy. “ You can stay up here for as long as you need to. After I make breakfast I’ll come back up to check on you and I’ll see if Marcus and Sebastian will cover for my chores. If you feel worse when I come to check on you, we are going to the hospital.”
“ Okay, I’m going to try and get some sleep. I think yesterday took it out of me.”
I left to go downstairs and the only thing I could think of was that we were going to lose our babies again and I couldn’t handle that. I began frying bacon and eggs and violently flipping them as they needed it. My mind was running wild with terror and I started hashbrowns and pancakes. I was deep in my own thoughts when I jumped because Sebastian yelled my name.
“ What’s wrong with you boy? I had to yell at you three times to get you to turn around.”
“ Faith isn’t feeling good today and I just let my imagination run away with me.”
Sebastian put his hand on my shoulder as he stood in front of me and looked me square in the eyes. “ Your wife and children will be okay. They’ve had a long few months and she just needs to rest. You need to breathe and be strong for them… Be strong for her. She needs you right now and she doesn’t need to know how terrified you are because she will just worry. That will be hard on the babies and nobody needs that. You be her rock and right now while she is not feeling well I will be yours. If you need to talk or break down or even if you need to just sit with me in silence I will be there.” He said sincerely.
I wiped the tears from my eyes that were starting to form and hugged him tightly. “ Thank you.” I said as I pulled away. I rubbed the back of my neck feeling awful for having to ask him to do my part of the chores. “I told her I would be back up to check on how she was feeling after I made breakfast. You wouldn’t mind adding my chores to your list would you? I’m sure Marcus wouldn’t mind helping you. I was going to ask him before I went back upstairs.”
“You know I don’t mind. If Marcus can’t help me that’s okay too. Your wife needs you and we are family. We look after each other.” he said.
“ Thanks dad.” I said unexpectedly. I didn’t regret it once I said it, but it was a surprise to me that I had let it slip. He had been as much of a dad to me in the last few months as my own father had been. I knew by calling him that it didn’t mean that I thought less of my own father, it just meant I accepted Sebastian more as my father. After all, he was my father by blood. I looked up at him to see his reaction and he was quickly wiping the tears from his eyes. He patted my shoulder and had a small smile.
“ You’re welcome son. Now I’ll finish this while you go check on Faith.”
