Chapter 37

Chapter 38
“ Well, to be honest we need anything and everything.” I said. “ Hey guys!” I said as Jason snapped Abby into the car seat base in the center of the back seat. He helped Em up into the seat behind Brian so we could see each other and talk and he got in behind me.

“ I’m so excited to be going baby shopping with you, Faith.” Emily said excitedly.

“ Me too. Did Brian tell you what we’ve decided about the names?” I asked as we pulled down the drive to the main road.

“No he didn’t.” I heard Jason say curiously.

“ We’ve decided not to use Brett as a first name, but maybe just as a middle name. We think you should be able to use it if you want. He will always be my dad, but my biological dad is here and we will be using his name and I don’t think it is fair for me to use dad’s name and Sebastian’s too. We were thinking of Sebastian Brett and Brian Harris for our boys' names.” It got quiet in the truck for a minute and then I realized it was because Jason was choked up and trying not to cry.

“ Thank you guys. It means so much to the both of us that you would do that.”

“ It only made sense.” I said. “ He was your dad too and you deserve to be able to use it.”

“ We were having trouble finding a middle name, but now everything is perfect. Our little boy’s name will be Brett Charlie.” Emily said proudly.

“ That’s a beautiful name.” I said happy for them. I placed my hand on Brian’s leg to reassure him he did a wonderful thing. We made it into town in about thirty minutes and found a little boutique on Main Street. It was mainly for kids and babies and I was hoping that they had most of what we needed, but if they didn’t we could either get it next week at my doctor’s appointment or online. When we walked in, a lady by the name of Charlene greeted us.

“ Do you need help finding anything?” she asked.

“ We are actually here for a little of everything.” Brian said. “ My wife is pregnant with twin boys and my sister in law is also having a little boy.”

“May I ask your names?” she asked.

“ I’m Brian and this is my wife Faith.” Brian said, taking a step forward and shaking Charlene’s hand.

“ I’m Jason and this is my wife Emily.” Jason said, shaking her hand.

“ This way my lovelies.” she said as she motioned us to follow. “ I have four cribs to choose from and about as many bassinets. Are you planning for the twins to share a crib?” she asked.

“ I think so.” I said. “ But I want them to have a separate bassinet.”

“ We can do that.” she said, winking. “ I’m going to let you guys look and if you need anything at all just let me know.”

“ Thank you Charlene.” Emily said.

I walked through the isle with the cribs on one side and the bassinets on the other. I wanted cute, but also functional where we could store extra necessities for night time accidents. I didn’t care about having a changing table because I had never had one of those when I had to help with Garret and Jessica. I loved the deep cherry colored furniture the best and there was one that had a mini dresser built into it and I fell in love with it. I then wanted to buy the two tall dressers that matched. I also had thought about cloth diapers, but hadn’t discussed it yet with Brian, but now was as good of time as any.

“ So love…” I said looking at him through my lashes. “ How do you feel about cloth diapers?”

He chuckled and kissed me softly. “ It’s whatever you decide love. The boys will have to have their diapers changed either way. It’s probably healthier for them without all the extra chemicals.”

I kissed him back. “ Thank you.”

“ Have you decided on the bassinets and crib you want?”

I grinned. “ Yes.” I said as I pulled him to the crib I picked out. “ I want this one so we can put things we will need in the middle of the night in the drawers. Then I want these bassinets because they have storage at the bottom and they are collapsible so we can take them downstairs. Then this pack and play for when they outgrow their bassinets. By that time they will be old enough to share a space.”

“ How about we do this? Let’s buy four of the bassinets so we can keep two downstairs and the two in our room. Then get two pack and plays as well so we aren’t having to constantly move everything.”

“ Are you sure we will really need that many?” I asked.

“ I’m sure. I know mom and Natalie will want to help and it will be easier with extras I promise.”

“ Okay we will get the extras.” I said as I moved on to the baby swings. “ I’m assuming we will need four of these too?”

“ Four of whichever you want love.” he said grinning. I knew he was happy, but until this moment I don’t think it set in how happy he really was.

I went around the boutique with Emily and we discussed the safety of everything and what we liked and disliked. She picked out a second breast pump that would allow her to pump when she had to be outside doing chores. I chose that one as well as one I could use as I was inside watching tv that could be plugged in. We looked at clothes and other essentials we would need. By the time we were done shopping we didn’t need anything else unless we found some cute clothes we just couldn’t live without. Jason paid for his and Emily’s things and helped us out to the truck while Brian paid for ours.
