Never to rise again

As Edgar walked through the dimly lit hall ways, Elaine's words echoed in his mind, he had disappointed her to the very lasts without even realizing it. He couldn't shake the intense conflict brewing within him, every step felt heavier, his heart pounding with uncertainty.

He thought of letting his corruption take over but that was going to be him not wanting to face his problems.

Unable to find solace in himself, he called for his only friend, Brandon. Sitting on a bench in the garden, he stared into the distance, lost in his thoughts.

The moon cast a faint glow, illuminating his troubled expression.

Elaine's words replayed like a broken record. “Strength isn't measured by how harshly we punish others, Edgar. It's measured by our ability to forgive and find a better way forward. And if you are unable to understand this, you are already weak Edgar” Her words pierced through his very soul challenging the very foundation of his beliefs.

The weight of his guilt for what he had done to Jon and the truth that Elaine had revealed clashed violently within him. It felt like a battle between two sides of his own soul, tearing him apart. How could he choose between his mate and his own principles?

With a heavy sigh, Edgar realized that he couldn't ignore this conflict any longer. He needed to confront the truth, face the consequences, and make a decision that aligned with his own moral compass and at that point he needed Brandon.

“Why would you call me out her by this tine of the night? Do you plan to imprison me too?” Brandon said as he walked closer to the bench and had a sit.

“I have made a really mistake Brandon, one that I cannot take back” Edgar said staring into a blank space.

“Yes, you have and I am supposed to hate you for it but I don’t instead my mind only sees it from your point of view” Brandon said and Edgar turned to look at him.

“Really Brandon? You understand why I did what I did?” Edgar said with furrowed brows.

“No,I don’t but I forgive you regardless. You’re the last person I trust in this world, I can’t live with knowledge that we are both bearing grudges” Brandon said rolling his eyes.

“Thanks Brandon” Edgar said with a warm smile om his face.

“I may have forgiven you but your wife is still mad at you, you neef to fix your shit” Brandon said.

"Brandon, I did so much wrong. I hurt Elaine. I can't bear the thought of losing her. What should I do? How can I fix this?" Edgar pleaded, his voice trembling with desperation.

Brandon's expression softened, his eyes filled with empathy. "Ed, I know you didn't mean to hurt her, but the first step is to acknowledge your mistake. Talk to Elaine , pour your heart out, and let her know how truly sorry you are. Show her that you understand the pain you caused and that you're willing to do whatever it takes to make things right. It won't be easy, but she will hear you out because of the love you both share”

Edgar nodded, his resolve growing stronger. "You're right, Brandon. I can't run away from this. I need to face the consequences, I hope she sees my genuine apology."

Brandon placed a reassuring hand on Edgar's shoulder. "Anytime, Eddy. Remember, we all make mistakes, but it's how we grow from them that truly defines us. I believe in you, my friend. You've got this."

As Elaine returned to her chambers, she couldn't help but feel a mix of anger, betrayal, and sadness. She sat down on a chair in her room and was deep in thought about what Edgar had done to Jon and Donald. The fact that he changed from the man she loved into w stranger in this particular matter, made the situation even more painful and unbelievable.

She stared out the window, watching as the moonlight on the courtyard below. It was in this moment of solitude that Elaine realized she had to tell to the other members about what Edgar had done not to tarnish his image but is of justice and the kingdom they both loved.

She pulled out a piece of parchment and began writing a letter to Edgar. She poured her heart into every word, expressing her disappointment and urging him to reconsider his decision to keep Jon imprisoned.

She called for a guard who helped her deliver it to Edgar. She knew that this conversation would be difficult, but she couldn't let fear hold her back.

Elaine took a deep breath and reminded herself of her duty as the ruler. She would fight for what was right, even if it meant challenging her own mate. She prepared herself for the new changes that will soon be happening and ready to face the consequences.

Little did she know, this would be the turning point in her reign, where she would have to make tough choices and prove herself as a just and fair leader unlike Edgar.

Edgar walked slowly through the halls, he wanted to make sure that Elaine was alright. As he got closer to his room, he knew that she was picking up his scent already.

“The Lady Elaine commands that no one enters, not even you”the guards that stood at the door said to Edgar when he got to the door of the room.

“I need to see her, it’s important” Edgar said but they didn’t allow him pass.

“I’m sorry my Lord” one of the guards replied and Edgar felt shame as he had just cleared the rumors that must have been flying around.

“Elaine!! Elaine!!!” Edgar said slightly increasing his voice to make her hear him from inside the room.

“Let him in” she said from inside the room and the guards stepped out of the way and let Edgar.

“What is it Eddy?” Elaine said as she stared into the space from the window.

“Elaine.. I’m here to apologize for everything I’ve done” Edgar said with a soft tone but there was no response from her.

“I have done so many things…” Edgar started when she cut his words short without any warning.

“I don’t want to hear whatever you have to say Edgar, you did what you did and you’ve claimed to be right. The Edgar I got married to would never be so ignorant and heartless” Elaine said turning to face him.

“I was just wrong in my judgements and it cost the life of a man that wasn’t meant to be punished” Edgar said trying to explain himself.

“Who are you?” Elaine said and there was silence in the room for a while and it was broken by a menacing laugh by the person who turned into another figure which wasn’t Edgar’s body.

Meredith lifeless body laid on the cold, hard ground as she anticipated her death. She drifted slowly inti a dark ethereal space and a voice spoke to her.

“The dead may live never to die again” the voice said the first time in a loud tone and she looked around to see if she could tell where the voice came from but she couldn’t find it.

“The dead may live never to die again” the voice said again and Meredith replied this time.

“Who are you? What do you mean by…” she wasn’t able to complete the statement when she heard the voice say again.

“The dead may live never to die again”

“I think it’s time to get back and complete my mission I was fulfill g before you dragged me here” she said with a stern look on her dead like skin.

“You have no war to fight again because the war is over” the voice replied.

“What does that mean?” Meredith said squinting her eyes in curiosity.

"The dead may live never to die again," the voice echoed once more. "It means that your mission is complete, Meredith. There is no more war to fight. You can rest now."

Meredith's curiosity grew even stronger. "But what happened? How did the war end?" she asked, her dead-like eyes filled with anticipation.

The voice spoke again, its tone filled with a sense of peace. "The forces of light triumphed over darkness. Love and unity prevailed, bringing an end to the conflict. You played a crucial role in this victory."
