Fell
Edgar sat in the garden as he was lost in thought about what Brandon told him to do,he loved Elaine more than anyone and would not want to loose hee so easily. His mind drifted to the days when they both first met each other. The spark that was already ignited kept growing and drawing them more closer to each other.
He remembered when he fought the human hounds and she stayed up all night waiting for him to come back safe to her, he also remembered the way she burned out mountain ash from his insides fearlessly, which was something no lady ever had the confidence to do.
He also thought about the time she stood up for herself before the elders of the pack when Skylar tried to make her his prisoner. Elaine was the most beautiful woman he had laid his eyes on and she was his wife.
Nothing could come between them, not even the past and all the mistakes and regret that came with it.
He made up his mind and stood up from where he sat, he took in a deep breath and was about to walk when he felt a prick of pain in his chest, he immediately knew that it was a way of telling him that Elaine was in danger
Edgar's heart raced as the pain in his chest intensified. He knew deep down that something was wrong with Elaine.
He swiftly raced towards the room she stayed in, his hands and feet trembling with worry. "Elaine, are you alright? Are you in there?" he said urgently, his voice filled with concern.
As he waited anxiously for her response, he couldn't help but recall all the moments they had shared together, their love and unwavering bond. He knew he would do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant facing the darkest of dangers, so he braces himself up for whatever it was that was going on inside the room.
“I’m alright, just leave me alone” she said and relief washed over him, but a lingering sense of unease remained.
"Please open up the door for me Elaine . I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you, I want to see for myself that you’re doing okay" he pleaded, his voice filled with both fear and anxiety
"I promise, Edgar, I’m doing alright and I’ll not do anything to endanger myself” Elaine said.
Alexander stopped for a while and thought of what she just said, and while his thought kept running deep, he heard a thud from inside the room like there was a fall of something really heavy.
With a mix of worry and fear, Edgar pushed open the door, revealing Elaine lying on the floor. He rushed to her side, his heart pounding in his chest, he couldn’t loose her like this not now that he needed her the most.
"Elaine, Elaine what happened? Are you hurt?" he said, his voice filled with concern as he shook her unconscious body violently.
The guards taht stood at the door rushed inside to see why Alexander was shouting and when they saw Elaine on the ground they didn’t know who to hold responsible for her condition.
As he knelt down beside her, he noticed a faint glow surrounding her, indicating that a spell had indeed been cast on her. His mind raced, trying to figure out how something of that manner happened to her and how he was unable to see it coming.
Edgar gently lifted Elaine off the floor, cradling her in his arms. He carried her to a comfortable spot in the room, making sure she was relaxed.
“Go get me Brandon” Edgar said and one of the guards ran out of the room hastily. The other guard stood at a place as his eyes were fixed at a particular spot, Edgar didn’t notice this for a while until he turned to look at him for a while.
“Who are you?” the guard said as soon as he came out from the daze.
“What do you mean by that? You know exactly who I am” Edgar replied.
“Few moments before you came here, Lord Edgar was here and the Lady Elaine welcomed him in” the guard spoke, he too was put under a spell and seemed very unsure about what he was saying and just then Brandon walked in with the other guard.
“What happened here? What’s wrong with the queen” Brandon said when he walked into the room to see Edgar’s gaze focuses on the guard that seemed extraordinary in his behaviors.
“Who are you?” The other guard said behaving the same way as the first while he stared at Edgar.
“Why are you both asking me that? I am Edgar” he replied already irritated by the question.
“What are you doing here?” The guard asked and Brandon’s curiosity grew.
“I came in here when I heard my wife fall” Edgar replied with irritation in his voice as he only hoped that he could get some answers out of this endless questioning.
“She never let you in here, she told you to go and leave her alone” the guard said and Edgar was beyond confused about what was going on.
"Brandon, something is not right. These guards seem to be under a spell, and they claim that Elaine never let me in. We need to find out who did this and why." Edgar turned to Brandon looking confused, his eyes searching for answers.
"You're right, Edgar. This doesn't make any sense" Brandon said as he thought deeply about what was happening.
“I cannot risk having them both in here with my wife, I’ll stay here myself and no one else is allowed in here except from you Brandon” Edgar said as he looked at Elaine who was in deep sleep since after the fall.
“Yes My Lord” Brandon said in a low tone as his mind ran wild with thought of how this was even possible in the first place.
Brandon walked out of the room with the guards following him closely behind and as soon as the door of the room was shut, he turned to them to question them.
“What can you remember from this evening up until now?” Brandon said to the first guard looking him straight in the eye, the guard found it difficult to maintain eye contact but they seemed to be lost in another universe.
Edgar heard Brandon groan in frustration from inside the room and walked towards the door, he opened it and stood at the entrance folding his arms
“This situation is getting worse by the minute! I can't believe these guards are acting like they're in a trance or something. We gotta figure out what's going on!" Brandon said to Edgar as he held his head that was beginning to hurt from the stress of nothing productive coming out of the guards since they stood there.
“And why is that happening? I thought that they had an idea of something” Edgar said with furrowed brows.
“I don’t think so Eddy, this is unlike any level of confusion I have ever seen” Brandon replied as he stared and the guards that just stated at them unreasonably.
“
"Yeah, it's like they're stuck in another dimension or under some kind of spell," Edgar agreed, frustration evident in his voice.
Brandon looked at the guards, hoping to get some answers, Edgar stood still for a while he closed his eyes gently and stayed that way for a few minutes not moving an inch.
“Who was in charge? Did anyone strange come by?" Edgar said as his corruption took over his body and his eyes turned entirely black.
The guards blinked, their eyes slowly refocusing like they were returning to this world they seemed yo not be living in for the past few minutes.
“I.. I don't remember much," one guard stammered.
“Tell me whatever you can remember that you think would be of any help” Edgar said as he stared intensely at the guard.
"There was another person that came here…" the guard said stopping to recall carefully.
“Who was it? Who was this person? Why were they here?” Brandon said gently to them.
“
It was you, Lord Edgar” the guard replied.
“You came earlier before and you were here again even when we never saw you leave the room” the other guard replied ans Edgar was left contemplating.
Brandon and Edgar exchanged worried glances. "Another Edgar? This just keeps getting more mysterious" Brandon muttered very much surprised and confused .
"We need to find out who's behind this amd what they stand to gain, tjis must be part of Damien’s plan. Get to the bottom of it and inform me” Edgar said with almost a whisper as this information sent shivers down his spine, so many things could ho wrong if some evil person were out there wearing his face amd pretending to be him.
"Absolutely, my Lord. I will make sure I uncover the truth” Brandon replied.
“I need this done discreetly, nothing goes out of the city walls” Edgar said.
“Yes My Lord” Brandon replied.
