Chapter Thirty

“We’re going home, NOW!” Freyja exclaims “I don’t care if they realize that it is you anymore, we’re leaving as soon as we can!”

“Frey, calm down!” I try.

“No, Fuck that! Your life is in danger, and I’m tired of you continuously putting it in even more danger just because you want to keep the rest of us safe.” She growls lowly looking me directly in the eyes.

I flinch at the determination in her eyes “Alright, we head home now.”

She grabs my wrist and drags me through the sea of high school students as we rush towards the front of the school, the moment we reach the exit we’re hit with icy cold air that freezes our lungs as we run towards the parking lot.

“I need to call mom and tell her that our plans need to be moved up.” Freyja says as she grabs her phone and starts dialing Berik. “Mom, we need to move our plans up to now, right now!” She says. “No, just trust me, we’ll be home soon.”

I roll my eyes as we all file into Addam’s SUV, Freyja sits on Justin’s lap next to the passenger back window, Cherie on Nik’s in the middle and I sit on the driver’s side. “Seriously, Freyja!” I exclaim making everyone look at me.

“Seriously, what?”

“Freaking out like this isn’t going to help any of us.” I explain reasonably.

She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly and looks at me “How in the hell are you so damn calm? It’s YOUR life on the line here, and you’re being calm, cool, and collected!” she says, enunciating the word ‘your’.

I look at her and sigh “I don’t know to be completely honest, I just know that if we start panicking we are definitely going to draw attention to ourselves and possibly alert those who are looking for me to my exact location.”

She bites her bottom lip and holds back a sob. “I know, you’re right, but I can’t help it. I remember how you were when you first came to us! You were so broken and in need of someone to be there for you. I guess I just became really protective of you.”

I look at her and clench my jaw “I appreciate it, I truly do! You’re right I was broken when I came to live with you and mom, but I don’t want history to repeat itself, and I feel that if we draw attention to ourselves, that is exactly what is going to happen. I don’t know what I would do if something were to happen to either you or mom.”

She snuggles into Justin “I completely understand, I just want to make sure nothing happens to you.”

I smile and look out the window as the trees blur past us, I see a pair of glowing amber eyes peeking out from the darkness, I sit up in my seat and try to find the eyes that peered out from behind the trees but when I don’t see them again I decide that maybe my brain is playing tricks with me.

“We’re home.” Addam’s voice brings me out of my inner thoughts.

We all file out of the SUV as Berik and Fenirick run up to us. “Oh thank the heavens!” Berik breathes as she pulls me into a hug. “Everything is ready, Fenirick has stocked the RV with everything we may need.”

“I would also like for everyone who is going on this road trip to leave their cell phones with me, especially you Falencia, we don’t need people being able to track you electronically. You may take your laptops and tablets, we made sure to encrypt them to where they won’t be traceable.” Fenirick says.

Everyone else groans but I happily hand over my phone “It’s not like we’re really going to need it.”

“But how am I supposed to take selfies of me and Justin along with pictures of everything during our road trip?” Freyja pouts.

I roll my eyes, “I was going to wait until graduation to give this to you, but since our timeline has moved up, I’ll have to give it to you a little early.” I look at Berik, “since everything got packed and put up in the RV could you show me where my belongings got put?”

Berik leads me to the RV, it is a double decker trailer with a cab pulling it, the bus is absolutely gorgeous, the outside is a sleek black with silver streaks going down the sides, the inside is just as nice if not more luxurious, the couches in the lounge area are pure leather, there’s an electric fireplace under the 75’ TV that is built into the wall, the countertops in the kitchen are pure grey marble granite and has stainless steel appliances, the master bedroom is at the back with it’s own bath/shower area, hidden behind a closet in the hall between the bedroom and the kitchen is the washer and dryer. “WOW!” I exclaim as Berik smiles and leads me up the staircase to the upper level of the trailer where there are five more bedrooms along with another lounge area that has game consoles hooked up to a 75’ TV there is a leather couch up against the wall opposite the TV, bean bags are also set up around the front of the TV.

“Your room is the first door to your right, everything is already set up for you.” Berik explains showing me to my room, inside it has a queen-sized bed with all of my bedding already put on it, there’s a 55’ TV mounted to the wall just above the built-in dresser, there’s a small indent in the wall closest to the door that opens into a closet where all of my clothes are already hung up. “The bedroom next to yours is Freyja and Justin’s, across the hall will be Addam and Dafne, the one next to them is Nik and Cherie, and then mine is at the end of the hall. Fenirick will be in the master downstairs. There is another full bathroom situated just across from my room for everyone to use.”

“This is absolutely amazing! This must have cost a fortune!” I say in amazement still taking in everything.

“It did, but it was worth it, especially if that means that we can stay on the road and not end up getting caught by anyone who is possibly tracking you.” Fenirick says as he leans against the frame of my doorway.

I smile at him and find the present I got for Freyja sitting at the bottom of my closet “I’m glad that you put this in my closet.” I tell Berik.

“I had thought about putting it on her bed at first, but I figured that you’d want to give it to her in person.” She replies.

I smile and nods at her “Yeah, I wanted to give it to her in person, thank you for thinking about that!”

I hear loud talking, whistling, and sounds of footsteps coming onto the bus as I walk out of my room with the gift in hand.

“This is absolutely amazing!” Freyja says in awe.

“It really is, it has everything we could ever want or need.” Addam says. “Dad and I went to the dealership earlier this week and had it custom made, there is a bottomless water tank and water heater stored in the bottom of the trailer in a storage-type container, so you don’t have to worry about running out, even if we’re on the road, the toilets are set up in a septic kind of way, so every night when we stop, we’ll have to empty it.”

“There is even Wi-Fi set up, you’ll be able to get online, the only rule is that if you’re checking your social media is that you don’t use the location. We are wanting to make sure that whoever is tracking Falencia isn’t able to find her.” Fenirick states. “You can also do online college classes if that is something you decide that you want to do.”

I look around at the place that is going to be my new home for the foreseeable future “So is it just us going or are you planning on having people following behind us or something?” I ask as we hear alarms start to go off around the pack.
