Morgana's Plan
Morgana's Plan
Morgana's POV
The crystal ball broke against the stone wall, sending sharp pieces flying everywhere.
"She escaped!" I screamed, my voice echoing through the underground room. "How did that worthless slave escape?"
My followers cowered in the darkness, none of them brave enough to meet my eyes. Good. They should be afraid.
For twenty years, I had been hunting the last StarBlood wolf. Twenty years of looking, planning, and waiting. And now, when I was so close to finishing my ritual, she had slipped through my fingers like water.
"High Priestess," one of my slaves whispered, "Marcus is here to see you."
I turned around slowly, my red eyes sparkling in the dim light. "Send him in."
Marcus stumbled into the room, his clothes torn and dirty. There were claw marks on his face, and he was breathing hard like he'd been running for hours.
"She's gone," he panted. "The Phantom Alpha took her."
I felt my power surge with anger, making all the candles in the room flash. "Tell me exactly what happened."
Marcus fell to his knees, shaking. "I had her in the cells, just like we planned. But someone helped her escape. An old wolf named Elder Thorne broke the locks with magic."
"And you let an old wolf outsmart you?" I asked dangerously.
"I killed him!" Marcus said quickly. "But by then, she was already in the Shadowlands. When I followed her, the Phantom Alpha was there. He... he was stronger than I expected."
I walked over to my altar, where dozens of jars filled with Lyra's blood sat waiting. Each drop was precious, gathered over three years of Marcus's fake relationship with her. But it wasn't enough. I needed more. Much more.
"Do you know what you've cost me?" I asked, picking up one of the bottles. The blood inside glowed slightly silver, proof of its StarBlood heritage. "This girl isn't just any wolf. She's the key to everything."
I turned to face my gathered followers - wolves from different packs who had sworn loyalty to me in exchange for power. They watched me with hungry eyes, waiting to hear how they would gain from my success.
"Brothers and sisters," I began, my voice carrying the authority of centuries, "the time has come to reveal the truth about our mission."
I held up the vial of Lyra's blood, letting its silver glow light my face. "For too long, the werewolf world has been controlled by weakness. Alphas who care more about protecting the weak than growing their power. A Celestial Court that preaches balance and kindness."
Murmurs of agreement spread through the crowd.
"But I have discovered something that will change everything," I continued. "The StarBlood wolves weren't just strong - they were the original rulers of our kind, chosen by celestial magic itself. Their blood doesn't just heal. It can change reality."
I walked to the middle of the room, where ancient symbols were carved into the floor. This ritual circle had taken me decades to perfect, copying it from texts I'd stolen from the Celestial Court's banned archives.
"In seven days, during the blood moon, I will perform the Ascension Ritual," I stated. "Using the StarBlood I've gathered, I will become the first wolf to transcend our natural limitations. I will become eternal, all-powerful, and the rightful empress of every pack in existence."
The wolves around me started talking excitedly. This was what they'd been waiting for - the promise of sharing in ultimate power.
"But High Priestess," one of them dared to ask, "what if the blood you have isn't enough?"
I smiled, and several wolves stepped back nervously. "That's why we're going to get more."
I moved to a big map spread across a stone table. Red marks showed the sites of different packs, but one area was circled in black ink - the Shadowlands.
"The Phantom Alpha thinks he can hide her from me," I said, running my finger over the marked spot. "But I know exactly where his little refuge is. Haven's Rest, they call it. How touching."
Marcus looked up from where he was still kneeling. "You want to attack the Shadowlands? But the tales say-"
"The legends are stories told to keep cowards away," I snapped. "Yes, the Shadowlands are dangerous. But not for wolves with the right preparation."
I pointed to a group of my most trusted followers. "Show them."
They stepped forward, and I could see the other wolves gasp in shock. These weren't normal monsters anymore. Their eyes glowed red like mine, their skin was pale and cold, and when they smiled, their teeth were longer and sharper than any wolf's should be.
"I've been experimenting with the StarBlood," I explained happily. "Small doses, mixed with ancient magic, can enhance a wolf beyond their natural powers. These warriors are faster, stronger, and feel no pain or fear."
But I didn't tell them the full truth. The enhanced dogs were also slowly dying, their bodies burning out from the corrupted magic. They had maybe a month left to live. But a month was all I needed.
"How many can you create?" asked one of my leaders.
"Enough," I answered. "But the real edge isn't numbers. It's knowledge."
I walked over to another table where papers were spread - reports, maps, and detailed drawings.
"For months, I've had spies watching Haven's Rest. I know their habits, their defenses, their weaknesses. The Phantom Alpha is strong, but he's also predictable. He cares too much about saving others. That caring will be his downfall."
I picked up a detailed drawing of Haven's Rest, showing every house and pathway. "We won't just attack them straight. We'll make them come to us."
"What do you mean?" Marcus asked.
I smiled again, this time with real pleasure. "We're going to take prisoners. Not from Haven's Rest - they're too well protected. But from the packs close. Innocent wolves who've done nothing wrong."
The room fell silent. Even my most loyal fans looked uncomfortable.
"You're going to use innocent people as bait?" one of them whispered.
"I'm going to do whatever it takes to complete my destiny," I said firmly. "Every great leader in history has had to make tough choices. This is mine."
I moved back to the ritual circle, putting the vial of StarBlood at its center. "When the Phantom Alpha comes to help the innocents, we'll be ready. And when he brings Lyra with him - because his good heart won't let him leave her behind - we'll take her."
"What if she's learned to use her powers?" Marcus asked nervously.
"Then we'll drain her slowly instead of quickly," I answered. "Fear and pain actually make StarBlood more powerful. The more she suffers, the stronger the process will be."
I could see some of my followers swapping worried glances. They were starting to understand just how far I was ready to go.
"High Priestess," one of them said slowly, "what happens to the rest of us after you become all-powerful?"
I turned to look at him, my red eyes burning. "Those who serve me faithfully will be rewarded with power beyond belief. Those who betray me..." I let the threat hang in the air.
"But there's something else you should know," I continued, my voice dropping to a whisper that somehow carried to every corner of the room. "The ritual needs more than just StarBlood. It takes a sacrifice."
The quiet that followed was deafening.
"Not just any sacrifice," I said, enjoying their fear. "It takes the willing death of someone who loves the StarBlood wolf completely. Someone who would die for her without doubt."
Marcus's face went pale. "You mean..."
"I mean the Phantom Alpha himself," I finished. "When he comes to save his dear innocent wolves, when he brings his beloved Lyra, I'll force him to choose. Her life for theirs. And being the noble fool he is, he'll choose to sacrifice himself."
I began to laugh, the sound booming off the stone walls like the cry of a hunting bird.
"Don't you see how perfect it is? His love for her will be the very thing that kills them both. And from their ruin, I will rise as the goddess I was always meant to be."
Lightning flashed outside, illuminating my face through the chamber's small windows. In that moment, I looked exactly like what I was - a predator who had finally caught her prey.
"Prepare the enhanced warriors," I ordered. "Send scouts to discover which pack has the most children. And Marcus..."
I turned to face him with a smile that made him shiver.
"Get ready to see your precious fake mate one last time. Because in seven days, she's going to die screaming your name."
Thunder crashed overhead as my followers scattered to carry out my directions.
Soon, very soon, the red moon would rise.
And when it did, I would become the most powerful wolf who had ever lived.
Even if I had to burn down the entire world to make it happen.
