Chapter 319 Jada Apologizes

Chapter 319 Jada Apologizes

"It was you! You put Mrs. Mellon's diamond ring in my bag!" Jada pointed at Nora accusingly, completely losing her composure.

That's right!

It was her!

Earlier, she had gotten close to Nora and stuffed the diamond ring into her bag.

But then Nora had squeezed back over, staying right by her bag. At the time, Jada didn't understand why, but now it all made sense!

Nora's face turned cold. "Jada, I just got to the restaurant and you called me over. Then you insisted I stole Mrs. Mellon's pink diamond. I don't understand what you're trying to do, but this hotel has security cameras. Just check the footage to see if I really just arrived at the hotel. Check the hallway cameras to see if I went to the restroom or not."

Some lessons, once learned, were enough.

Back at the York family, Jada had tried to frame her multiple times.

At first, Nora hadn't been on guard because Jada was young, and she thought she was just a bit rude.

But after that incident in the garden, Nora realized that Jada was truly malicious.

Someone who was always sarcastic to her suddenly being so friendly today—how could Nora not be on guard?

Jada's face turned extremely ugly.

Everyone else figured out what was going on too.

They weren't fools. Jada had insisted on searching someone's bag, and the pink diamond ended up in her own bag—she had shot herself in the foot.

Brenda held her recovered pink diamond, looking at Jada with cold eyes. "I've heard rumors that the third daughter of the York family has a habit of stealing. Today I've seen it for myself."

At these words, Jada's face went pale. She couldn't save face no matter what. Her face flushed red, and she tried to walk toward Electra.

"Stop right there!" Brenda called out to Jada. "You stole my pink diamond and wrongly accused Nora. After doing something so disgraceful, shouldn't you apologize to both of us?"

Jada gritted her teeth, feeling utterly humiliated.

She regretted it.

If she had known it would turn out like this, she should have just thrown the pink diamond in the restroom. Now everyone in the room had seen Brenda's pink diamond in her bag. She couldn't explain her way out of this.

"Mrs. Mellon, I'm truly sorry." Electra stood up and came over to apologize. The diamond ring had been found in Jada's bag—there was no way to explain it away now. She walked over to smooth things over with Brenda. "Jada is too young and doesn't know better. She's just mischievous. Maybe she likes Nora and wanted to play a game with her."

"Mrs. York, does your family express affection by framing people?" Brenda asked Electra.

Electra's face stiffened.

Just then, the private room door opened.

The handsome and upright Steven stood outside. He had heard about this as soon as he arrived at the hotel and rushed over to handle the situation.

Unexpectedly, by the time he got there, things were already mostly resolved. Nora was fine, but Jada had become a laughingstock.

Steven looked at Nora.

She looked back at him, her eyes sparkling, as if to say, "See, I can handle problems too."

Steven was slightly surprised, gazing at Nora deeply.

Nora was gentle and kind, but that didn't mean she wouldn't fight back. On the contrary, she had always been clever. If people didn't bully her, she wouldn't make the first move, but if they did bully her and she caught an opportunity, she would definitely get her revenge.

"What happened?" Steven walked over and stood beside Nora, asking her while putting his arm around her waist, clearly showing he was ready to stand up for her.

Jada's body stiffened. She had always been afraid of Steven, and now with him staring at her coldly, she was so scared her hands were shaking.

Brenda saw that Steven was quite protective of his wife and smiled at him. "Earlier, my diamond ring went missing. Jada said Nora stole it, but then we found my ring in Jada's bag. Mrs. York said that Jada likes Nora and was just playing a joke on her."

After Brenda finished speaking, Electra's face turned dark.

"Jada, apologize to Mrs. Mellon and Nora." Electra clenched her hands at her sides and told Jada to apologize.

"Mrs. Mellon, I'm sorry. Nora, I'm sorry." Jada apologized without any hesitation.

"For something this serious, is just saying sorry enough?" Steven's handsome face beneath his short hair looked menacingly gloomy.

Jada's heart tightened.

Electra had already slapped Jada—this was the quickest response she could make after assessing the situation. She glared at her coldly and said, "You don't know how to behave at all. Get out of here now. I'll deal with you later."

Jada quickly left.

At the door, she covered her face, hatred crawling across her features beneath her long hair.

Nora, just you wait!

"I apologize for making you all witness this. It's my fault for not raising my daughter properly. I'm truly sorry..." Electra bowed apologetically to the ladies in the private room.

She showed the most gentle and conciliatory attitude, making it hard for anyone to hold a grudge against her.

---

Steven and Nora left the room and went to their reserved private room.

"Sorry I arrived too late just now." Steven looked at her, his eyes showing some guilt.

Nora shook her head. "It's fine. I'm actually in a pretty good mood."

Getting back at Jada on her own made her feel great.

"Were you scared just now?" Steven asked her in a low voice.

"A little at first, but once I figured out what Jada was trying to do, I wasn't that scared anymore." Jada was young and didn't have that much cunning. She only thought of petty schemes. As long as Nora was a bit on guard, she basically wouldn't fall for them.

Steven patted her head. "As long as you stay calm, you can always spot the other person's mistakes."

Nora nodded.

Suddenly, the private room door opened. A server brought in an expensive bottle of wine and said to Nora, "Ms. Adams, this is red wine from Mr. Mellon."

At this point, Steven frowned.

The server continued, "To thank you for helping his wife find her wedding ring."

So the wine was to thank Nora.

Steven's expression improved considerably.

Nora smiled, and then the private room door was pushed open by a slender hand. Brandon walked in with Brenda.

The two approached.

Steven stood up calmly and shook hands with Brandon. "Mr. Mellon."

The two had worked on some projects together and were business partners.

"Mr. York." Brandon shook hands politely.

Brenda walked over, placing her delicate hand on Nora's shoulder, smiling. "I lost my wedding ring earlier and was in a bad mood. Haven't eaten yet. How about we have dinner together tonight?"

"Sure." Nora had always liked Brenda, and she had just stood up for her. She smiled and said, "Let us treat you."

"I'd be happy to accept." Brenda sat down.

Brandon was a devoted husband and sat down beside Brenda, handing her the menu.

Brenda ordered a few dishes she liked, then propped up her chin and asked with a smile, "Nora, how did you figure out that Jada stole my diamond ring?"

At this, Steven looked somewhat surprised. "So you knew all along that this would happen?"

Nora smiled.

Brenda said, "I was confused at the time. When Nora came in, she suddenly pinched me. I thought it was an accident, but later when Jada mentioned calling the police, Nora quietly pinched me again, as if to stop me from objecting. That's when I started to understand."

When they talked about calling the police, Brenda had actually been a bit hesitant because she knew Nora and didn't want to make things bigger. But Nora came over and squeezed her hand.

At that moment, Brenda had a sudden realization, so she played along.

Nora took a sip of water and said with a smile, "Because when Jada pulled me in the hallway, she kept grabbing my bag really hard. I felt something was off, so I reached in to feel around, and I touched a round ring. At first, I didn't know it was your wedding ring, but later in the private room, when I heard those ladies saying your ring was missing, and remembering that Jada has a habit of stealing, I pretty much figured out what Jada was trying to do."

Steven had told her about Jada's stealing habit—she wanted to take whatever she liked.

Connecting these two things, Nora had guessed most of it.

"You're pretty smart." Brenda smiled with her eyes. "But there's one thing I'm curious about. Since she already stole it, why didn't she just take it away? Why frame you instead?"

Nora thought for a moment. "Maybe after she stole it, she realized this ring is one-of-a-kind. She couldn't wear it out to show off even if she took it. Plus, this ring is very expensive. If it went missing, there would definitely be a jewelry theft case. She was probably afraid of getting into trouble."

"That's probably it. After this incident, her reputation is ruined." Brenda smiled charmingly.

Brandon turned to ask her, "Should we pursue this matter?"

"Forget it. We have some business dealings with York Development Group, and she already apologized publicly. Going after her privately would make us look petty." Brenda said.

Steven replied coolly, "It doesn't matter to us. If Mrs. Mellon is still upset, taking it out on her wouldn't be a problem."

Unexpectedly, he was adding fuel to the fire.

Nora wanted to laugh but pressed her lips together.

"If you want to laugh, just laugh. Why hold it in?" Steven glanced at her.

Nora pressed her lips. "Can't be too mean."

The next day, news about Jada stealing Brenda's diamond ring hit the trending searches.

Like a bolt from the blue, it made Doyle's face darken.

"What's going on?" Doyle threw the newspaper on the desk and stared quietly at Electra's gentle face. "Jada stole Mrs. Mellon's diamond ring?"

Electra glanced at it, feeling as uncomfortable as if she'd swallowed a fly, and said weakly, "This is a misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding?" Doyle's face turned dark, his voice cold. "Without evidence, why would they put this story in the news? Do you think I'm a senile old fool?"

Seeing she couldn't fool him, Electra lowered her eyes and said delicately, "Jada is just young and doesn't know better..."

"Being young is no excuse." Doyle was very angry. "She's 19 years old, still stealing from people, and it's all over the trending searches. What a disgrace."

Jada was raised by Electra, so when problems arose, Doyle came to question Electra.
