Chapter 320 Raina Wants to Live at Steven’s House

Chapter 320 Raina Wants to Live at Steven’s House

Electra knew Doyle's personality well. Seeing he was angry, she reached out and gently pressed her hand on his shoulder.

She was charming and attractive, always wearing light-colored dresses, looking as gentle as moonlight.

Doyle glanced at her. Her pitiful appearance instantly reminded him of that woman with the cold expression.

Serena.

Counting carefully, Serena had been dead for over twenty years.

Thinking of her, Doyle's chest felt heavy and uncomfortable, and he suddenly lost focus.

"Doyle." Electra's voice was soft and gentle as she whispered, "I know I wasn't born into a good family. My mother didn't know how to raise children. I didn't get a good education. I'm not as excellent as Serena..."

"But I've tried my best. Maybe it's because I had a hard time as a child that I've been a bit too lenient with Jada."

After saying this, Electra started crying.

Seeing her cry so pitifully, Doyle's expression softened. "Alright, stop crying. I'm not blaming you. I'm just frustrated seeing this family falling apart. Look, Steven has no family affection in his heart, Andrew never comes home and acts like he doesn't care about anything, and now Jada has turned out like this too. Your way of raising children does have some problems."

"I know." Electra softly admitted her mistake. "It's my fault. I don't know how to raise children."

She cried like a pear blossom in the rain.

Doyle looked at her.

Electra climbed onto him like a snake, sitting on Doyle's lap and kissing his cold lips. "Doyle..."

She collapsed into his arms. Due to years of maintenance, she looked like a woman in her thirties with lasting charm, her eyes clear and charming like a beautiful rose.

Doyle froze for a moment, then held her waist. "Serena..."

Electra's body stiffened, but she pretended not to hear, leaning close to Doyle's ear and calling to him sweetly, "Doyle..."

Doyle's eyes darkened as he touched her face...

Nora finished making breakfast and went to the study to call Steven.

"Breakfast is ready."

He was already up, wearing a dark shirt, sitting elegantly and calmly behind his desk browsing the computer.

Seeing her push open the door, he said, "Come here."

Nora walked up to him, and he naturally reached out and pulled her onto his lap.

Nora gasped in surprise. "What are you doing? It's early morning."

"Look at this." Steven tightened his arm around her slender waist, making her look at the computer.

Nora glanced over. On the computer screen was clearly Jada's scandal - the story of her stealing Brenda's diamond ring had been exposed online.

Now people online were discussing her with great interest.

[This is hilarious. I didn't expect rich people to like stealing things too. What an eye-opener.]

[And she tried to frame someone else, but it backfired on her.]

[I heard she often steals things from her classmates, but people are afraid to speak up because she's a socialite.]

Jada had become a joke online.

Nora raised her eyebrows and asked Steven, "Did you do this?"

"Brandon did it." Steven glanced at her. "To get back at her for what happened yesterday, for Brenda's sake."

Nora nodded. "Mr. Mellon really spoils his wife. But Jada brought this on herself. Of all things to steal, she had to steal someone's diamond ring."

Steven hummed in agreement.

Nora said, "Breakfast is ready. Let's go eat."

"Okay."

The two of them went out to eat, holding hands.

While eating, Olivia called. "Nora, I'll be arriving in South City tonight."

Olivia was holding her phone, wearing sunglasses and pulling her luggage as she walked into the airport.

"Did you have a good time?" Nora asked her.

Olivia smiled. "It was alright."

As she said this, Alton and his assistant walked past her carrying luggage.

"Mr. Bridges, it's Olivia," the assistant reminded Alton.

But Alton acted as if he didn't see Olivia, casually looked away, walked past her, and went through the gate.

Olivia lowered her eyes.

This was for the best.

From now on, they'd draw a clear line and have no more involvement.

"Coming back tonight? Want to have dinner together?" Nora invited Olivia.

Olivia thought for a moment. "Sure, let's see what time I arrive tonight. If there's enough time, let's have dinner together."

"Is Olivia coming back?" Steven asked her, his light voice sounding pleasant.

"Yes, she said she'll arrive tonight. I invited her to dinner."

"Are you eating out?" Steven said. "Should I book a restaurant?"

"Let's eat at home. I don't want to eat out every day."

"Okay."

After breakfast, Steven went to work.

Nora walked him to the door and watched him get in the elevator before smiling slightly and going back inside.

She spent the whole day working on her online store on the computer. She'd be going back to work tomorrow, so today she needed to print out the orders first.

After a 10-day break, over four hundred orders had piled up.

She printed them all out, made herself a cup of coffee, and sat in front of the computer watching two episodes of a TV series.

Compared to being on vacation, she preferred this relaxed and stable work routine.

In the afternoon.

The doorbell rang.

Nora thought it was Olivia, thinking she'd come back quite early.

She walked over and opened the door.

Outside stood the Adams family and Kai's family.

"What are you doing here?" Nora was wearing a fresh-looking dress, her long hair hanging over her shoulders, her complexion looking good.

Kai glanced at her, his heart stirring again. He smiled and said, "Well, Stella and I are going back to our hometown tonight, and we wanted to come see you guys before we left."

See them?

Nora was puzzled. If they were leaving, why did they need to come see them?

Wayne said, "Kai wanted to come thank Steven. Those funds that Steven said would drop have been falling like crazy these past few days. Good thing Kai withdrew his money in time, or who knows how much he would have lost."

"Yes, yes, we really have to thank Steven this time." Kai smiled. "Is Steven home?"

Nora said, "He went to work."

Kai nodded.

"Come in, come in, everyone come in." Wayne ushered everyone inside.

Raina walked in last, carrying several bags of gifts. She said to Nora, "Nora, these gifts are from our family to thank Steven. Please tell him later."

"Oh, you shouldn't have. That's not necessary." Nora smiled politely and tried to push them back.

But Raina insisted on giving them, placing the bags of gifts on the table.

Wayne said, "Nora, go wash some fruit for Kai and the others."

With Steven not home, Wayne treated the place like his own home, ordering Nora around without any hesitation.

Nora felt a bit helpless but opened the refrigerator and took out some fruit.

The group sat in the living room chatting cheerfully.

Stella said proudly, "Our Raina got her job offer. She's joining York Development Group, one of the Fortune 500 companies."

"York Development Group? Isn't that the same company Steven works for?" Tanner spoke up.

Raina was very surprised. "Really? Steven also works at York Development Group?"

"Yes." Tanner nodded. "He's even a manager."

"His salary must be pretty high then, right?" Raina glanced at Nora.

Nora didn't know how to answer.

York Development Group belonged entirely to the York family, but Nora couldn't say that.

Tanner said, "I heard his salary is like tens of thousands of dollars a month."

Hearing this, Raina's eyes lit up. She glanced at her mother - she knew she hadn't misjudged him. Steven not only came from a good family but also had a very promising career.

"Tens of thousands of dollars a month, that's pretty good." Raina praised.

Tanner asked her, "What about you? What's your salary package like?"

Tanner worked in South City and knew that York Development Group was the ideal company that all working people aspired to join. He said, "I heard that salaries at York Development Group start at ten or twenty thousand dollars, there are free shuttle buses for commuting, the cafeteria is free and the food is amazing, plus the building has 101 floors, the work environment has great views, and you can even keep flowers and cats. It's a company with amazing benefits."

Raina smiled sweetly and said, "My salary isn't as high as Steven's. I applied for project management, 25K a month."

"How much is 25K?" Wayne didn't understand.

Tanner answered him, "Twenty-five thousand dollars a month."

"Twenty-five thousand dollars a month?" Wayne was envious. Raina had just graduated and was already making over twenty thousand dollars, while Nora had been working for so long and only made a little over ten thousand dollars a month. Wayne smiled and said, "Raina, you're really successful."

"It's okay." Raina's eyes and eyebrows were full of pride.

She had a master's degree, so naturally her salary package was better. But Steven was doing well too - he'd already become a manager at the company. If she and Steven got together in the future, they'd be working at the same company and could go to work together every day.

As they talked, the conversation turned to where Raina would live.

Kai and Wayne exchanged glances.

Wayne said to Nora, "Nora, here's the thing. Kai and Stella are going back tonight, but they're worried about Raina. They want Raina to live with us."

At this point, Nora looked up.

Why were they telling her if Raina was going to live with them?

Wayne continued, "But we don't have an extra room at home. So I was thinking, the house you and Steven live in has an extra room, right? How about this, Nora - you and Steven take the master bedroom, and let Raina have the second bedroom?"

Nora frowned slightly when she heard this. So this was the real purpose of their visit?

They didn't even call first to ask, but deliberately came over in person to bring it up, so she'd feel too embarrassed to refuse?

"Nora?" Seeing that Nora hadn't responded, Wayne called her again.

Nora looked up. Raina was looking at her with expectation in her eyes.

Nora calmly looked away, her face showing no smile. "Sorry, I can't agree to this."

No one expected Nora to refuse.

The living room suddenly fell silent.

Wayne frowned, but before he could speak, Raina spoke first. "Nora, what do you mean by this? Are you looking down on me?"

"This isn't about looking down on anyone or not." Nora's attitude was neither cold nor warm. "You didn't even call first before coming over. This puts me in an awkward position."

Her refusal was already very clear.

Raina's face looked unpleasant as she turned to look at Stella.
