Chapter 135 Steven Considers Chris a Rival in Love
Steven bent down and picked up the rabbit hair clip from the floor, playing with it in his hand.
"Where are these things going?" Steven asked the female employee.
The employee answered nervously, "Mr. York, these are samples the jewelry design department just made today. They need to be sent to the designer for review."
Steven nodded, "I'm taking this rabbit hair clip. Let her know."
"What?" The employee was confused. Why would Mr. York want a rabbit hair clip?
Although it was pretty cute, it wasn't high-end jewelry - it didn't match Steven's status at all.
At the hospital.
Olivia was already awake. She looked at Nora and asked, "Willie just came to see you?"
"Yes, about the shop." Nora was cutting an apple for Olivia. "Good thing we signed that agreement. From his tone just now, I could tell he's having some regrets."
Olivia ate a piece of apple and said, "That's just how they are - they won't do any deal that loses them money."
"Well, I'm not stupid either," Nora complained. The Reed family members wanted to treat people like fools? Dream on!
Did they think only their family was smart?
While Nora was chatting with Olivia, her phone suddenly buzzed. It was a message from Andrew.
Andrew: [I've confirmed, Ms. Adams. Mr. Wood will be returning to his country in two days. Would you have time tomorrow to show him around the city?]
Nora thought about it - she should at least host him properly, so she agreed.
Nora: [Sure, does Mr. Wood have anywhere specific he wants to go?]
Andrew: [Yes, he wants to go to Cloud Mountain.]
Nora: [No problem.]
Cloud Mountain was a famous attraction in South City. However, she had never been there - she'd never been to any attractions that cost money.
She was poor when she was in school, then busy starting a business with Willie, and later all her money went to treating her grandfather's illness. She'd lived this long without really going out to have fun.
After sending the message, she went online to check ticket prices for Cloud Mountain.
Then she took the initiative to buy three tickets.
When taking clients out, of course, she couldn't be stingy - she had to make sure the client had a good time!
Time quickly slipped away to evening.
Before getting off work, Steven called Nora, "Are you at the hospital?"
"Of course I'm at the hospital." Nora answered sweetly, "Where are you?"
"Just got off work." Steven looked at the rabbit hair clip in his hand, put it in his pocket, and walked out of his office.
James followed beside him.
Steven asked, "Nora, what do you want to eat tonight?"
"Are you coming to the hospital?" From that one sentence, she could tell he was coming. Nora felt happy.
"Yes, I'm going to check on Olivia," Steven answered.
Nora thought he was lying. When Olivia was hospitalized for so many days before, he wasn't this attentive. Now that they'd made up, he was coming right after work.
Her heart felt sweet. She lowered her lashes and said, "Okay."
"Good." Steven responded, then turned to instruct James, "Get some ingredients ready for me and have them sent to the hospital."
In less than thirty minutes, someone came knocking with the ingredients.
Even the pot and stove were provided.
"Oh my god! We're cooking here?" Nora took the items inside.
"What is it?" Olivia asked from the hospital room.
"Hotpot." Nora put the things on the table. "Should be from Steven, but Olivia can't eat it - you'll probably have to stick with the nutritional meals."
"It's fine, you guys eat."
"Okay." Nora took out her phone to call Steven. "Did you order the hotpot?"
Just to be sure, she had to ask.
"Yes, mild-flavored hotpot. I asked Chris, and he said Olivia can eat it too." He specifically chose mild-flavored hotpot.
"That's great. When will you get here?" She missed Steven a bit - they really couldn't be apart now.
"I'm at the hospital, just parking. I'll be right up."
"Okay," Nora responded and put her phone aside, taking everything out.
Olivia glanced over and smiled, "New phone? From Steven?"
"Yes." Nora smiled sweetly. "My phone broke, so Steven bought me a new one."
Olivia sighed and said, "I was with Willie for 6 years, and he didn't give me as much as you've gotten from Steven in such a short time. Gold, phones - Steven really cares about you."
Nora felt happy, "Two pieces of gold! He also bought me a computer, clothes..."
Nora counted them off like treasures.
Olivia couldn't stand her showing off and told her to hurry up and pour out the soup and plug it in to get ready.
Suddenly, the hospital room doorbell rang.
"Olivia, I'll get it." Nora thought Steven was back and ran excitedly to open the door.
But it was Alton.
He was holding a tray and said with a smile, "The nurses downstairs were busy, so I came to deliver your meal."
"Mr. Bridges, it's you?" Nora quickly let him in. "Come in."
"Okay." Alton brought the nutritional meal inside.
Olivia's nutritional meal was different from others' - Alton had specifically arranged for it to be made with proper nutrition.
He put down the nutritional meal.
Olivia sat on the hospital bed and nodded at him, "Thank you, Mr. Bridges."
"No problem." Alton looked at her quietly.
Nora seemed to notice something, but also seemed to notice nothing.
She tried to smooth things over, "Mr. Bridges, we're having hotpot tonight. Want to join us?"
"You guys?" Alton frowned and looked at Olivia. "Can Olivia eat hotpot?"
"Dr. Green said she can. Steven's coming too."
As Nora was answering, Steven arrived.
"He's here," Nora said to Alton with a smile.
Steven was a bit surprised to see Alton, "What are you doing here?"
"The hospital was too busy to deliver Olivia's meal, so Mr. Bridges helped bring it up," Nora answered for him.
Steven raised an eyebrow, looking at Alton with meaningful eyes.
Alton didn't explain, his expression completely open.
"Steven, come help." Nora couldn't manage alone and called to Steven.
Steven took off his long coat, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and stood beside her. "What do you need help with?"
"These vegetables - they all need to be washed." Nora didn't notice the vegetables were in fresh-keeping bags and thought they needed washing.
Steven tapped her forehead with his bent finger, "Nora, didn't you see the vegetables are in fresh-keeping bags? They're already washed."
Nora was confused, "What? They're already washed? I saw them in bags and thought they needed washing."
"Then we can eat them right away!" She looked at Steven. "Where are the bowls?"
"Didn't they send disposable tableware?"
"Let me check." Nora checked the bag - there really wasn't any. She frowned, "No, there isn't any."
Steven fell silent.
He was about to make a phone call when Alton finally found a chance to speak, "Wait, let me say something. The hospital has tableware. I'll have the nurses bring some over."
Their atmosphere right now made it hard for others to join the conversation.
Alton had been sitting there for a while without finding a chance to speak.
This hospital's recovery area had a kitchen.
"The hospital has tableware?" Nora turned to ask Alton.
"Yes." Alton made a phone call, and soon a nurse brought over several sets of tableware.
Nora found it strange and asked, "Mr. Bridges, didn't you just say the hospital nurses were too busy right now?"
Alton was caught. His expression was a bit awkward.
Steven couldn't help but laugh.
He knew it - Alton had ulterior motives.
Nora glanced at him, "Steven, what are you laughing at?"
"Nothing." Steven didn't say anything. He just saw through Alton's intentions.
Olivia didn't notice anything.
She didn't think someone like Alton would be interested in her - she was a woman who'd been married for years and had even been pregnant.
And Alton was a famous lawyer who also owned a large hospital, and drove a Rolls-Royce.
How could such a wealthy person be interested in her?
If he were interested, it would only be to play around.
The three of them sat at the dining table eating hotpot. Olivia didn't come over - she sat at the movable table by her bed, eating her nutritional meal.
"Time to eat!"
Nora called out and ladled a bowl of chicken soup for Olivia.
The nutritional meals weren't very tasty - they just looked pretty on the plate but had no flavor at all.
Nora had eaten one meal with Olivia at lunch, and it was as bland as water. She thought it tasted terrible.
So really, women eating nutritional meals had it rough.
"This soup tastes so much better." Olivia had been eating flavorless food for ten days and was really suffering.
Nora smiled, "Olivia, if you want more, I'll get you another bowl."
"No thanks, the hospital will probably send over sweet soup later anyway." Nutritional meals came eight times a day, and you could have extra whenever you were hungry.
"Okay, I'm going to eat then." Nora walked to the dining table.
The two men were sitting at the table eating hotpot.
Just as Nora was about to sit down, the doorbell rang again.
"I'll get it." Since she hadn't sat down yet, she walked over to open the door.
Outside was Chris.
He leaned lazily against the doorway, raising an eyebrow at Nora, "I heard Steven and Alton are both here?"
"Yeah, we're eating hotpot. Dr. Green, want to join us?"
Chris covered his stomach and said, "Never mind, my gastritis has been acting up lately. My stomach's bothering me, so I won't eat. I just came in to say a few words to Alton."
Chris was here to find Alton.
Nora invited him in.
Steven's gaze immediately turned over, carrying some wariness.
Chris's eyes met his, and he smiled.
Ever since eating at Riverside Apartment that time, Steven had been looking at him with daggers in his eyes, all dark and gloomy.
Chris found it amusing just thinking about it.
Steven completely didn't understand his good intentions - he was just trying to help them out because he saw that Steven was being cold, but Steven treated him like a potential rival.
