Chapter 122: Don't Pay Attention to Him Anymore
Nora was so scared that she dropped her phone and broke it!
Although she'd had this phone for over three years and had always taken good care of it, seeing that crack appear made Nora's heart ache.
And now the screen wasn't as clear anymore.
"Just go buy a new one," Steven said sarcastically.
After all, didn't she love swiping his card? Go ahead and swipe it, so she wouldn't feel like she was losing out being with him.
Nora frowned and looked at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
She was already angry inside - treating her like that last night, and now speaking to her in this sarcastic tone.
Steven leaned against the wall in a lazy posture, but his eyes were angry with a cold edge. "Did I say something wrong? Don't you buy whatever you want?"
His gaze fell on the box of supplements on the dining table.
This was what she spent money on yesterday?
And she said she was living frugally?
Seven or eight thousand dollars worth of supplements, just bought like that. He'd been such a fool before, actually believing Nora's words.
She didn't just want to fool him; she wanted to fool Andrew, too.
No wait, probably not just that - there was Philip too!
Sure enough, the best hunters always appear in the form of prey.
Acting all innocent, wasn't it all just to make more money?
Nora understood, her face paling. "You think I'm spending too much of your money?"
"Aren't you?" he shot back, his tone full of sarcasm. "I'm not wrong about you, Nora. You're just a 'Gold Digger.'"
In that instant, all of Nora's anger rushed to her head. She didn't know why, but she suddenly felt so irritable!
Like a ball of rage was stuffed inside her chest.
Nowhere to vent it.
So heavy! So stifling! So oppressive!
Before, when they had no feelings for each other, and Steven said things like that, she could understand it, because she and Steven weren't close!
But now they were truly husband and wife - how could he think of her this way?
Calling her a 'Gold Digger'?
Nora was furious!
She walked into the bedroom, roughly pulled two cards from her bag, and threw them hard at his feet. "Get out!"
After yelling, she slammed the door shut with force.
The door closed in front of him. Steven's eyes darkened as he grabbed the doorknob. "Nora, who gave you permission to slam the door? Open it."
Nora lay on the bed, burying her head under the covers.
Not saying anything, ignoring him!
"Nora!" Steven was still turning the doorknob, the fire inside him building higher. "Open the door!"
"You get out!" Nora threw a pillow at the door.
"I said open the door!" Steven's brow furrowed.
Nora still ignored him.
Her head buried under the covers, she kicked her feet in anger.
She wasn't going to deal with Steven anymore.
Before, she thought he was pretty decent and quite considerate, so she wanted to be with him properly, but the things Steven said when he got angry were too infuriating!
She wasn't a doormat - what right did he have to hurt her with his words like that?
She regretted sleeping with him. She'd given herself to him too easily, and now he didn't cherish her at all!
Nora cried in anger.
After a while, the noise outside the door stopped.
Steven had probably left.
Nora lay quietly on the bed, tears streaming down.
Finally, unable to breathe under the covers, she threw them off, still angry, and kicked the blanket off the bed. She felt completely irritable!
Slept with him - she'd just consider it a mistake and move on!
Nora was so angry she didn't even want to stay home. She changed clothes and decided to go to the hospital to see Olivia.
Opening the door, Steven was already gone. He hadn't picked up those two cards on the floor - they were still lying there.
Nora acted like she didn't see them.
They were his cards anyway!
She went to the hospital to see Olivia.
Olivia was in the hospital room talking to a police officer.
Nora's heart tightened. "Olivia, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, don't worry." Olivia patted her hand. "I called the police."
Olivia told the officer what she wanted. After taking notes, the officer told her they would investigate the Reed family and resolve the case as soon as possible.
Only then did Nora learn that they'd found the person who pushed Olivia.
After the officer left, Nora asked Olivia, "The person who pushed you that day was Willow?"
Nora had met that old woman Willow once - she was Eleanor's aunt, spoke in a sharp and mean way, not a kind person.
"Yes." Olivia nodded. "Willie told me to let it go. I don't know what he's thinking - this is his child too, and he's just not going to pursue it."
Nora was speechless hearing this. "Olivia! Don't listen to him. If it should be pursued, pursue it."
"I'm definitely going to pursue it." Hatred flashed in Olivia's eyes, but afraid of scaring Nora, she said softly, "Nora, I've already asked Mr. Bridges to help me handle this. For now, don't confront the Reed family, so they don't catch you in any way."
"Okay." Nora listened to Olivia. Since a lawyer was involved, that was definitely better than her handling it without knowing the law.
Olivia said, "I'm going to make sure Willow goes to jail!"
Nora supported Olivia. "People who do wrong should go to jail. It's a warning too, otherwise they won't reform."
"Did Steven bring you here today?" Olivia noticed Nora's expression wasn't quite right and asked.
"Yes." Nora didn't want Olivia to worry, so she lied.
Olivia didn't think much of it. They chatted all afternoon, then Nora went home.
There was no food at home. Nora didn't feel like grocery shopping either - she wasn't in the mood.
She lay listlessly in her room. With no one else home, as daylight faded, it became very quiet.
The whole house felt empty.
She turned on the lights, then started the robot vacuum, so there would be at least some sound in the house.
She lay on the sofa watching movies.
Usually, they would sit here and chat.
Now she was alone. She listlessly changed channels, feeling too restless to focus, curled up and staring at the balcony.
After ten o'clock, she thought about it and decided to call Steven.
Although she didn't want to deal with him, they were married after all. She didn't want Steven to spend the night out.
Men who spend nights out are more likely to cheat.
She dialed the number, waiting nervously, but Steven didn't answer at all.
The ringtone ended.
Nora didn't have the courage to call a second time.
Her heart sank to rock bottom.
Being a wife to this extent, she felt pretty pathetic.
She went back to bed hugging the covers, her eyes heavy in the darkness, not sleepy at all.
Maybe they just weren't right for each other after all...
Steven didn't come back all night. He stayed at the office.
Nora slept until noon the next day with dark circles under her eyes. She'd had dreams all night and hadn't slept well at all. Now her face was pale.
To not be disrespectful to the client, she put on light makeup.
At one-thirty, Nora met Andrew at The Fisherman's Catch.
Andrew stood lazily at the entrance of The Fisherman's Catch.
From a distance, he saw a woman in an oversized black windbreaker and leggings getting out of a taxi.
She had a great figure, carrying a large square bag.
A breeze passed by, her long hair slightly messy, her skin clean, red lips sexy - very beautiful.
