Chapter 109 Tanner Beat Up Willie
Nora didn't refuse. Right now, she needed his embrace, needed some warmth and comfort.
Nestled in his arms, neither of them spoke, just sitting quietly.
It's so good to have him here.
Otherwise, she might have had to face everything today alone. Her parents at home were practically useless; couldn't count on them at all.
Thank goodness she still had Steven as her support.
After holding each other for a while, Nora's phone rang. It was Tanner calling.
"It's my brother Tanner," Nora told Steven before answering the call.
"Nora, I heard Olivia lost her baby?" Tanner, having learned about Olivia losing the baby, was on the subway heading to the hospital. He was coming after work.
"Yes," Nora responded.
Tanner said, "Is it Mary's Hospital? I just got off at the station. I'll be at the hospital soon."
"Okay, I'll wait for you." Nora hung up and told Steven, "Steven, Tanner's coming. He's coming to see Olivia."
Steven nodded, "What about Willie's family? Something this serious happened, did they come?"
"No sign of them, just Willie came alone." Nora hated the Reed family to her core. They were all so bold when causing trouble, but when something really happened, they all hid and didn't dare face it.
"Steven, you should head back. Tanner's coming, I'll go to the entrance to meet him."
"Okay, call me if anything comes up." Steven touched his wife's head, "Don't cry anymore, or your eyes will get swollen. Call me when you're ready to go home later, and I'll come pick you up."
"I might need to stay overnight to look after her." Nora walked out of the hospital with Steven, "If no one's watching over Olivia tonight, I'll stay with her."
"Okay." Steven knew how close the sisters were, so he didn't say anything more. He got in his Audi and left.
Tanner arrived and called Nora at the hospital entrance.
Nora met up with him, and they walked into the elevator together.
Tanner was about 6 feet tall, wearing a plaid shirt with a backpack on his shoulder. "How's Olivia doing now?"
"She's out of danger," Nora told him everything that happened last night.
Hearing that Olivia almost had her uterus removed, Tanner froze. "It was that serious?"
"Yes, thank goodness they saved her."
They reached the 13th floor.
The nurse didn't want to let so many people in. After much pleading, the nurse said they had to leave within half an hour.
They entered the ward. Olivia was staring at some point in the room, expressionless, looking like she had no will to live.
"Olivia, Tanner's here." Nora brought Tanner into the room.
Tanner walked over to look at Olivia.
Seeing her own family, Olivia started crying again, the kind she couldn't control, tears streaming down continuously.
Seeing Olivia bullied like this, Tanner was filled with anger. He frowned, sat for a while, then left in silence.
Nora didn't know where he went. Her mood was pretty heavy, too.
Tanner went to the Reed house.
He stood at the front gate frantically pressing the doorbell, filled with rage.
Willie came to open the door. Seeing Tanner, he felt inexplicably scared. "Tanner..."
Before he could finish, Tanner punched him in the face.
Willie's face was instantly badly bruised. His eyes widened in pain!
"You bastard!" Tanner kicked him down. "Olivia's been with you for years, and this is how you treat her."
Willie fell to the ground. The Reed family heard the commotion, and all ran out. "Tanner! What are you doing!"
Seeing four or five people coming out, Tanner quickly turned and ran.
"Willie!" Bianca ran to Willie.
Willie clutched his aching cheek, his whole face dark with anger. "Call the police!"
Around eleven o'clock, Nora's phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and saw it was Marcella calling!
"Hello," Nora answered. "Mom!"
"Nora, something's happened!" Marcella said tearfully, "Tanner's been detained!"
Nora was shocked. "What happened? Mom, don't panic, tell me properly."
"Tanner went to the Reed house tonight to find Willie and stand up for Olivia. They say he beat him up. Now the Reed family called the police, Tanner was taken to the police station, and they won't let him out on bail..."
Nora was stunned.
So when Tanner suddenly left earlier, he went to beat up Willie?
Marcella cried, "Jasmine is still recovering. How could Olivia let Tanner go beat up Willie? Now Jasmine's throwing a fit at home. Her son just got out of the hospital, we can't leave him alone... How could this happen..."
The Adams family's situation was going from bad to worse.
Nora didn't dare let Olivia know about this. Coming out of the ward, she ran right into a wall of flesh.
It was Steven.
Nora was knocked back a step.
Steven reached out, one hand around her waist, the other protecting the back of her head to keep her from hitting the door behind her.
Nora looked at him gratefully, pulled away his hand, and continued talking to Marcella. "Mom, don't worry yet. I'll go to the police station now and see if I can get Tanner out on bail."
"They won't let him out! Your dad went, and the police station won't allow bail..." Marcella complained while crying, "If he's detained, it'll definitely be ten days to two weeks. What about Tanner's job? The company will definitely find out he got involved in a criminal case. He has a kid to support, and the rent alone costs a lot each month... What are we going to do!"
Nora felt heavy-hearted. "Let me go see first."
Listening to Marcella complain was pointless. Better to see what could be done to solve it.
Nora hung up, looking frustrated.
Steven asked her, "What happened?"
"Tanner went to find Willie tonight and beat him up. Now he's been detained. My dad went to bail him out, but the police station won't allow it." Nora briefly explained to Steven, anxious to leave.
"Steven, I need to go to the police station now. There's no one here with Olivia. Can you watch over her? I'll come back as soon as I'm done."
She had just taken a step when Steven pulled her back.
Steven held her in his arms, looking at her. "Don't panic first, listen to me."
"Tanner's been detained, how can I not be anxious?" Nora was panicking inside, very worried.
Steven said in a low voice, "If the police station won't allow bail, it won't help if you go. You need to get a lawyer."
Nora paused.
Steven said, "You stay here and take care of Olivia. I'll handle Tanner's situation for you."
Having him take care of Olivia wouldn't really work, but bailing someone out was simple for him.
Nora was slightly stunned. "Steven, you can handle it?"
"Did you forget? Alton is a lawyer."
"Yes, he is a lawyer. I just feel bad always troubling him..."
Steven said gently, "It's okay. He's my good friend. If he helps me, I'll naturally repay him in other ways. We have a good relationship."
Nora nodded.
Steven took out his phone and called Alton.
Alton was drinking at a club and didn't want to go at first, but when he heard it was Olivia's brother, he agreed to go.
