Chapter 46 46

Chapter 46 46
Third Person POV
Thalia paced back and forth while she thought to herself; she hadn't been able to reach him for the past twenty-four hours, and although she had called him severally, he wasn't picking up his phone.
She looked for her bag and brought her phone, failing his number once again. The phone rang for a few moments, but there was no answer. She got even more frustrated.
She couldn't know what actions or decisions he had decided to make, especially after what happened on the night of the mating ceremony.
"You need to calm down," Elara said as she watched Thalia pace about the room, but Thalia couldn't calm down; she needed to understand the situation before she could make the next move.
"I can't calm down," she said. "He should have called me by now; this is taking too long." She sat down on her bed as she buys her lip in frustration.
"Do you think that maybe he wasn't aware of what Draven  planned?" Elara asked her, and Thalia thought for a bit; to her, it seemed entirely possible; in fact, it even made more sense that way.
"Maybe, maybe not," Thalia replied, then called his number once more. His number rang in silence, and with no one picking up, she knew she had to act fast; it's either something dangerous had happened to Adrian or she was actively avoiding her.
She remembered how she had lashed out at him violently, blaming him for everything that had happened—the disgrace, shame, and embarrassment—but now she regretted it deeply; she needed him back and fast.
"Do you think we were a little bit too hard on him last night?" Elara asked as she played with the ring in her marriage finger.
"I think so too." Thalia feigned sadness; she picked up her phone and called his number for the last time; if he didn't pick up, then she would take drastic actions on her own.
She couldn't lose her position as of right now; she needed sure footing. She looked at the phone as it rang, praying he would pick up at least once, but no, nothing happened. She sighed deeply and stood up to leave the room.
"Where are you going, Thalia?" Jenna asked, looking a bit surprised; she hadn't expected her Thalia to just stand up and leave while they were having such a difficult time.
"I'm just going to catch some air; I'll be right back." Thalia lied as she stepped out of the door. She walked into her room and shut the door tightly closed.
When she was sure no one had followed her, she called another number, belonging to another man, whom the person picked up at the first ring. "Good day, Thalia, how can I help you today?" A man's voice sounded from across the line.
"Hey Rob, I called because I need a little help from you," she replied. "Sure thing, name it."
"You're familiar with the Diamond pack, right?" She asked carefully; everyone at least had heard about the name once, especially news reporters. “Yes, of course, did something happen?" The man asked.
"Well, I have a scoop, but I want everything about me to remain anonymous," she said calmly. Now that she's started, there's no going back.
"Of course, completely anonymous," he replied excitedly, "so give me the juice."
"Alpha Draven is back to his pack, and he married the ex-fiance of his own nephew, Hazel," she said calmly. She knew there would be repercussions of what she was doing, but she couldn't care now.
She could hear the pen scribbling down the words of everything I had said, but then I continued. "Alpha Draven, Adrian, rejects his uncle's marriage but takes Thalia Labrinth of the Labrinth family to be his fiance."
She paused for a bit, wondering if she should add a certain clause, "Hazel is the step sister of Thalia." She finished calmly. She could hear the man whistle on surprise from the phone.
"That's really a lot, but a terrific scoop," the man complimented her. "No source name, anonymous," she reminded the guy; he answered in understanding and cut the call.
Now what she had to do was wait; once this scoop becomes out of proportion, Adrian will have no choice but to take me seriously, she thought. She opened back her room door and found her way to her mother.
She couldn't tell her mother what her plans entailed; she never told anyone her plans; it was to ensure the success of the plan, and not things were finally going her way.

Hazel watched Draven  mleave the room; she felt so helpless knowing that all she could do was wait for him; she couldn't help him or anything of the sort; she desperately hoped he would keep his word to her and not leave her alone.
After he closed the door, her attention turned to Noah, who simply stood where he had been. He turned his attention to Alice and looked at her for a bit before turning to face Hazel.
"Don't worry Noah, Adrian is fine," she said to ease his mind, just in case he had been thinking, because that was the reason why she had come all the way here in the first place.
Noa nodded his head and greeted Sara, who sat in her seat smiling smugly at Draven. She felt uncomfortable at the weird smile, but deep down she knew why. If Alice hadn't shown up when she did, then maybe something...
"May I go see Master Adrian?" Noah said as he sensed the tension in the air. Hazel nodded at him and walked away. Now it was just the three women left in the room.
"You have really bad timing, Alice," Hazel said in a rough tone, but Alice simply scoffed at her while she held her bruised neck. Hazel looked closer at her back and saw some claw marks at the sides of her neck; she quickly approached her.
"Here, let me see that," she said. Alice pulled away surprised. "No, I'll be fine," she replied.
"Alice, let me see that," she demanded. Alice looked from Draven to her mother. Sara nodded gently. Alice lowered her hand and let Hazel check out her neck.
Hazel looked at her neck for a few moments before looking at Alice with an apologetic face. "I'm sorry, Alpha Draven has been a bit wonky of late," she said, not wanting to go into details about why he did that.
"Don't bother, I'm well aware," Alice replied. Hazel looked at her surprised then looked at Sara; she had thought it was supposed to be a secret, so why did Alice know?
"I'm not stupid, you know?" Alice cut her off from her thoughts. "I saved the other one after only because mother sent me too," she continued. Hazel stopped herself from talking and flushed at herself.
"Sorry, I didn't realise," she said, then what Alice said suddenly hit her, "Wait, that was you? The wolf with the red fur?" She asked surprised; she hadn't wanted to accept it, but now it was quite obvious.
Alice gave her a disdainful look and flung her hair in Hazel's face. "I thought it was already so obvious; my hair and fur are the same colour," she said, but Hazel wasn't bothered by that.
She had more questions she wanted to ask. "How did you do it?" Hazel asked curiously. "Do what?" Alice asked her, confused. She had looked at her, cocking her head to the side.
"That thing you did where to disappear and appeared beside Adrian and disappeared with him; I couldn't even see you," she said excitedly all of a sudden, as though she had forgotten everything that had happened of late.
"Oohh," Alice said, looking around uncomfortably. "I've just been able to do it," she replied. "Could you teach me?" Hazel asked hopefully; she imagined she'd be useful if she could do something like that.
"Of course not; that's my trait; it can't be taught if learnt," she stated. "The same way there are certain things only you are capable of, I can't also do them," she said.
Hazel felt slightly disappointed, but she hadn't expected much to begin with. Just as she was about to ask another question, Noah climbed up from the basement with an impassive face.
Hazel tried to pay attention to him. "Is he okay?" She asked Walter. "He's kicking quite well and cursing a lot, at the red head, I presume," he said, looking at Alice. Hazel noticed her lips tug a little at the side.
"What are you going to do now, Noah?" Hazel asked. "Just to carry out the Alpha's orders, Luna," he said casually, then tired to Alice and offered his hand.
"If you would, we have much to discuss," he continued. “Perhaps in a more private place," he added. Alice looked at him for a few moments, then smiled.
In less than a breath, there were both outside in the sun, somewhere in the meadows. "What do you need me for?" Alice asked curiously.
"To spy on the Labrinth family," Noah responded.
