Chapter 45 45
Third Person POV
"Excuse me?" Hazel blurted out with a shocked expression on her face. She looked back and forth between Sara and Draven as neither said anything.
She had known that eventually something like this would happen, but her finding out like this was unprecedented. She looked back at Draven; this time he held her gaze; he didn't look away but leveled his eyes directly on her.
She felt a shiver run down her spine as she pushed away the lewd thoughts that flooded her mind. "Are you sure this would work?" Alpha Draven asked Sara after looking away from Hazel.
He held his hands together whilst deep in thought. After what had happened to him this morning, he wasn't ready to take any chances that might result in him harming anyone else.
The feeling he felt back then was similar to how he felt years ago while he hunted down The Fang. He looked towards Hazel, who seemed to be clattering nervously in her sleep.
He could understand what she felt; she wasn't ready for anything of the sort, and yet Sara just tells them that the only way for him to completely break his curse was for them to have sex.
Alpha Draven deeply felt that if he was going to ever have sex with Hazel, then it would be of her own volition, not because it was the only way to save him.
He knew he had done a lot of rotten things, but this wasn't something he could bring himself to do, even at the expense of his own life, and it certainly wasn't the reason why he married her, but now the lines were getting blurry.
"Are you certain this is the only way to completely break the curse?" He asked Sara; she looked at him with a strange smile on her face. He knew she was enjoying it—the tension, the moment, and how uncomfortable it made Hazel feel.
He almost felt annoyed, but he knew Sara wouldn't be up to something like this as a joke. "Unless you're willing to carry out the ritual we did earlier?" She asked cautiously.
"No," Draven shook his head in refusal. Scenes from that day passed through his mind; he couldn't put her through that danger again, especially knowing that she might die or lose the chance to be a mother ever again.
"Her blood has been shed for the ritual; by both of you becoming one, it would completely break the curse, taking you of it's reigns, and you'd be free forever," she replied.
The sound of freedom sounded beautiful to Draven; he imagined himself walking under the full moon like other wolves, not having to run away or bother about killing someone because he couldn't control himself.
The thought made him smile, but as he thought further about what he would have to do to get this freedom, the smile was completely based on his face.
"How long do I have?" He asked curiously; he knew he had to take his time, as it was a very sensitive matter that couldn't be rushed. "There isn't a time limit," she said.
"But the seal is damaged; you may not be able to control yourself if you get agitated or unnecessarily angry," she continued.
"It could happen at any time of the day, if the moon is there or not, and it becomes more and more frequent with every passing day; the longer you take, the worse you get until..." She paused.
"Until what?" Hazel asked, panicked. Sara sighed calmly before she continued, "Before he completely loses himself," she finished.
"Looses himself?" Hazel asked surprised, "How exactly do you mean?" She asked again.
"I will lose to my wolf, unable to turn back into a human again; I'll tread the world as a beast and not a man, killing whatever fancies me; I will be hunted down as a threat, forced into submission, and if not possible," Draven paused for a bit.
"I will be killed."
"No..." Hazel whispered under her breath, her hands covering her mouth as her eyes were wide with shock. She looked at Sara for support, to tell her that what she had just heard wasn't true.
"Unfortunately he isn't wrong, Hazel," she spoke.
"Everything is as he says it would be if the curse persists," she finished. Hazel looked at Draven; she expected him to answer her, to look at her; she needed him to know she was going to help him, to be there for him.
But he kept looking away, as though he didn't want this. Although he was willing to take the risk till he couldn't anymore. "Alpha Draven," Hazel called out.
"Not here, not now," he shut up with a single look and a sentence. She shrunk into her seat feeling defeated; she had no idea what she could do to help him.
She didn't mind giving up her body anymore, but it seemed he had other things in mind. After a few moments, Draven stood up and walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Hazel blurted out; she didn't want him to leave yet, to walk away to goddess knows where, never coming back like he did so many years ago.
"To catch some air," he replied. He was about to hold the door handle and leave before Hazel ran towards him.
"You're not leaving, right?" She asked him desperately, "You're not going to disappear like you did ten years ago, right?" She held onto him tightly.
He looked at her a bit shocked; of all things, he hadn't expected her to be so upfront and say things like that. He hesitated for a moment then held her close to him, close enough that she should feel his breath on her face.
His scent filled her nostrils, making her hold him even tighter. "No, I won't run away," he said calmly while she held him. "Not this time, not ever again."
He held up her chin and looked deeply into her eyes, ignoring Sara, who sat there watching the both of them. He brushed her hair behind her ear, feeling her smooth, luscious skin, pale and soft.
Her eyes were locked in with his; he felt himself rising gradually, the urge to hold her to the wall, kiss and savage her completely, the way she looked into his eyes, needing him more with every moment that passed.
Draven parted his lips slightly, and while his eyes stayed on her lips, he couldn't take his eyes off them. Not now, when he was so close to her, with her hands drapped over his shoulder, her arms pulling his head closer, they could both feel each other's breaths.
Draven found his hands as they searched her body, from her back down to her waist, his hands resting on her hips as he guided her towards him ever so gently.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Draven felt a presence appear bedside him; his hands immediately shot out by reflex, holding the neck of a young woman with bright red hair.
Hazel stepped back in shock; she hadn't expected Alice to show up and ruin the moment, but even worse, Draven was holding her neck; she needed to act fast before he did something dangerous like breaking her neck.
"Alpha Draven, please stop." Hazel held his hand with both of hers. "She's the one that saved Adrian earlier today," she pleaded. Draven watched her for a little while longer before he let go of her neck.
Alice crumpled to the ground and took in deep breaths of air. She stayed there for a few moments before she dragged herself to her feet. "What are you?" Alice asked as she held her bruised neck,
"Your strength is unbelievable."
"Alice, that's the Alpha of the pack; show your respects," Sara called out to her daughter. Her eyes widened with shock as it dawned on her the kind of situation she had put herself into.
She bowed her head in respect. "Greetings, Alpha Draven ," she said as politely as she could. Draven nodded at her then looked at Sara. "Is she the one you've been telling me about?" He asked, and she smiled and nodded her head.
"That's my daughter Alice; she came to see me for a few days, but you may need her help if something arises," Sara replied. Draven nodded his head and then looked at her.
"An interesting attribute you possess; you'll be very useful to me and Walter," he said, then turned away from her, as though he were deep in thought.
"You can stop hiding Noah," Draven called out. Noah stepped out from the shadows behind the door, startling everyone, excluding Draven and Sara.
"Take her with you; we have matters she will help us with." Draven opened the door and walked out without another word.
