Chapter 34 34
Draven's POV
As I finally approached the borders of our Pack, the sounds of fierce battle filled the air. I got to the main battlegrounds to find that the pack guardians were valiantly fighting against the intruders from Zac's pack, holding their ground as hard as they could.
They did good and will be rewarded once this is all over. The other warriors and pack guardians joined in the fight, and soon everywhere was enveloped in smoke. I shifted into my wolf before joining in with the rest.
The battlefield was a scene of relentless struggle, paws and claws clashing against one another, snarls and growls echoing across the clearing. The scent of blood and adrenaline hung heavily in the air as dust remained floating in it.
If this was a human fight, then the dust is for sure going to be slightly blinding, but we are werewolves. So we are different. Zac believes he will most definitely win this.
But what he doesn't know is that we are fighting for the opposite things, which puts my pack at an advantage. He is fighting for his ego with his warriors, who have nothing against mine and are barely loyal.
But my warriors are fighting for their homes, their dignity, and their safety. As our group charged into the heart of the turmoil, I finally found a familiar guy from Zac's mansion.
He must be close to Zac, perfect. The pack guardians had begun to feel weary but resilient. Soon more and more reinforcements came, and they all transformed into their wolves before joining in the battle.
Their eyes gleaming with determination and pride. We fought side by side, pushing back against the onslaught of Zac’s Pack. I immediately aimed for the guy I recognised as Dan, before I could reach him, a wolf form descended on me, trying to pin me to the ground and attack.
But I stood my ground and pulled him away, alerting Dan of my planned ambush. Dan had the chance to run away and blend in with the chaos going on. Aggravated, I lunged at that foolish wolf, and with a few angry slashes of my claw on his fur, he bled to death.
I suddenly sensed someone behind me trying to land a sneak attack and immediately got into position. My wolf smelt Dan's aura and immediately swiftly ran forward before he could land his attack.
And then my wolf ran back, lunging at him ferociously. I wanted him to go back with me so he could give me the information I needed to take Zac down, but first I'd need to hurt him a bit more for him to finally be weakened enough to follow me.
We fought for a while, and I had to admit that he is truly a force to be reckoned with. We fought mercilessly against one another, with me weighing in on my strikes to not kill him and Dan doing his best to do the same thing and bring me to Zac.
The sounds of our paws and claws clashing against one another were the main sounds I was focused on, his snarls and growls mingling with mine echoing across the whole battleground.
I watched his moves closely, understanding his fighting skills. I realised that he had an injured knee and would leap about once in a while. I also took notice of the fact that he moves fast in random motions just to not be caught by me.
I admired his skill. But then it's already time to put an end to this. I ran backwards, and as expected, he followed after me, and then I concerned him back and landed atop him, pinning him to the ground before turning away.
He seemed injured badly now and was bleeding profusely, so I also ran towards him once more, this time biting at his knee harshly. I stood and gazed at him once more, readying myself to land my one final strike, when, bang!, there was a loud noise.
And it all went pitch black.
Hazel's POV
I paced back and forth in my room, feeling restless. Something wasn't right, and I knew about it. I just don't know how or why. I walked towards the window pane and rested on the frame.
I held my hands together and began praying to the moon goddess in hopes that she would be willing to help us out, no matter how little or big. I am certain that with the moon goddess's divine intervention, everything will be alright.
After saying a few prayers, I left the window pane and tried reading a few books to get my mind out of things. I had my phone switched off to not receive any unwanted calls.
But I guess I'd have to switch it back on now as I prefer reading online novels to hard books. I opened the drawer on the bedside table and took out my phone. I turned it on and immediately began downloading sci-fi and romance novels.
And then I downloaded all the latest songs from my favourite artists. After that, I decided games would be good too. I thought about movies but didn't go ahead with it as I preferred reading novels to watching movies.
Once everything was all downloaded, I turned on airplane mode on my phone and began reading a sci-fi romance novel called The Eight Princes' Consort From Another Space Time.
It was a novel about a girl who was mysteriously transported a thousand years back in time and first became the second daughter of the Qu family before she was married to the Eight Prince of Dongue.
I enjoyed the novel for its intriguing plot twist that had me glued to my phone for hours. I was momentarily distracted by the novel because I had forgotten about Draven and the ongoing war.
Well, until the door suddenly burst open. That's when I noticed that it was soon getting dark out, and the room was already so dark that I could barely make out the people standing right outside the door.
There were four able-bodied men. As I tried to make out the people by their stature, I realised that there was one that looked too familiar. And he was leaning over someone else while holding onto his side in pain.
"Alpha Draven!" I called and approached them, leaving my phone on the bed. Draven seemed to be in a lot of pain as they helped him get into the room.
There were grunts here and there, and he was covered with a robe, so I couldn't see what exactly it was that put him in this situation. Until I saw a stain of blood on the robe. Oh no.
"Bring him to the bed!" I ordered, and they brought Draven to the bed. I followed them. Immediately after he was kept properly on the bed, he lost consciousness.
If not for the up-and-down moves his chest was making, I'd have thought the worst of things had happened to him.
After confirming that he was fully secured and comfortable, one of the men still standing by the bed moved away, hopefully to call the physician to come have a look at him.
I sat by his side, stroking his hair, my hands subconsciously trembling as tears made their way out of my eyelids. "What happened to him?" I asked the other two guys, still standing by the bed.
"Alpha Draven had been supporting us, and we were able to push the intruders away from the borders, but they still kept coming at us. And in a face-off with one of the intruder's men, the Alpha got shot by their Alpha, Zac."
At the mention of the name of that devil, my insides quivered in a mixture of pain and fright. "Thankfully, Alpha is strong; he lost consciousness but was still very much alive.”
“And seeing that our Alpha was brought down, the rest of our warriors were so infuriated and killed more and more of the intruder's soldiers that they had to retreat so as not to lose their soldiers."
On hearing that, I was a bit relieved; at least the war has been put on hold for a while. That gives Draven time to fully recover.
"The alpha had already shifted back to his human form, so we had no choice but to take him to the river and have him cleaned up and remove the bullet while Levi went on to prepare his clothes."
I nodded at the end of his explanation and focused solely on Draven. Just then, the Noah physician came in with Elias and the other guy who had left the room earlier on. "Thank goodness you're here," I exclaimed gratefully.
He spared me a glance and a slight smile while nodding. He approached the bed, and I moved away to give him some space. Noah untied the robe Draven had on and took a look at the wound. I hissed in pain as I saw how much blood he was losing.
"Please, I'll need everyone to go out for a while. I need to stop the bleeding." Noah had said, and I nodded in understanding and turned to take my leave, with the men already leaving the room.
I stood outside the door of the room with Elias; the other three pack warriors had already left. I began feeling quite agitated and decided to pray more. I prayed for Draven's safety, as I didn't know what else I could do at that moment.
My only way of helping him now is by offering my prayers to the moon goddess in hopes that she will hear me out and let him get out of this with not as much pain as he already is in.
Just then, I heard a lot of footsteps approaching. I turned around to find a group of elderly men walking towards me. They were the elders; they must've been informed now about Draven's injury.
Once they finally reached the door of the room, they stopped, and all eyes were now on me. "What's the situation?" Morris asked first.
"Noah had told us to wait outside. He would inform us when it's okay to go and see the Alpha. But... His situation looks bad." I told them sincerely.
"Moon goddess, please bless our Alpha," Sam said, and the rest responded with the same words.
