Chapter 12 His property
Aria
“Aria, we have to go,” my mum tried to convince me. Her hands reached for mine, but I could barely see them because of the tears that were clouding my eyes.
I looked back at the life we were leaving behind.
If I were normal, if I were born a wolf, I wouldn't have to go through any difficulties.
I pried my eyes open almost instantly, and I felt tears slide down the sides of my face. It was a dream but it used to be a reality.
Perhaps my mother would still be alive if I were a wolf. My father was a wolf and well, my mother, a mere human.
If my mum were a wolf, maybe I would have been born a wolf. But I don't regret having someone like my mum. She was one of the best things to ever happen to me.
But it still pains me sometimes whenever I think about it.
My gaze searched around me quickly. Where am I? I’m in a room that looks almost like the one in the mansion. Just that this one was smaller.
Remembering the last event before I fell asleep, I sat up. Lucian drugged me! He tricked me into eating knowing fully well they were all laced with drugs.
I had no idea why he had to do that because it clearly didn't look like he was trying to hurt me for real. We must be at the pack house.
Though the reason why he brought me here is still unknown. I was chased out of my father’s pack because I was human. Why then would an Alpha bring a human into the pack house?
Why, really, am I here?
“I wasn't expecting you to be up so fast,” a deep voice said suddenly around me.
I jumped up in fright, and my head whipped towards the direction from which the voice came.
It was Lucian standing by the window and staring out of it. He looks like he was very concentrated on whatever had gotten his attention, yet he's still here as well.
“How long have you been there!” I asked, mid-yelling.
He hesitated briefly before finally turning to me, a little smile on his face.
Unexpectedly, my heart skipped a beat. This man has a way of affecting me even without touching me.
Is it because of his charisma? Or the fact that he's really handsome.
“I might need to get your blood checked. That shouldn't have happened,” he said instead, ignoring my question. “You should still be out for the next three hours.”
“Am I supposed to be grateful? Because if I hadn't woken up, I wouldn't have caught a pervert watching me.”
The word was insulting, and I was expecting a change in his expression, but that didn't happen.
“Don't forget what I said, Aria. Be a good girl or you get punished.”
“You said you wouldn't kiss me!” I burst out.
He laughed and something flipped in my heart.
“Trust me, I have my ways.”
I got lost in his eyes for a moment. “May I ask some questions?”
“Shoot,” he muttered and looked away, his attention caught again.
“This is the pack house right?”
“Hmm.”
“What am I here for? As a maid?”
He finally turned to me. “Follow me,” he ordered, ignoring my question yet again.
He walked to the door and stopped to look at me again. “There's someone I want you to meet.”
I followed him out of the room, and into the foyer. Ben was waiting with a woman probably in her mid-twenties. There were also three maids standing at a side.
Lucian took his seat and gestured to the space beside him.
My gaze searched around me, in a bid to find out who he was referring to. Can he possibly be telling me to sit beside him?
Do maids sit beside their boss?
“Aria!” He dragged lazily. “Don't make me force you,” he muttered jokingly.
I complied immediately but made sure I left some space between us.
“So, Chloe, you are a dropout?”
Chloe nodded quickly. “Y_yes..I…” she stammered.
“Relax,” Ben told her. “You are safe,” he assured.
Then it hit me. She was human. No wonder she was scared.
“Yes Alpha, I am. I dropped out of college a year ago.”
“Good. You got the job then!”
Chloe smiled. “Thank you so much boss.”
I blinked once, skeptical. I didn't know when Lucian started employing humans.
But, well, many things are deemed to change, especially since Lucian took me in. Who would have believed Lucian would do that?
I'm the most useless thing for him right now.
“Aria,” he called suddenly, turning towards me. “Meet Chloe, your assistant.”
My eyes widened on their own. “What do you mean assistant?”
It's not like I just got employed over here as the secretary or the manager. What's the assistant for?
Ignoring my question, Lucain turned to one of the maids standing, “Show her to her room.”
The maid bowed slightly and turned to Chloe. “Please follow me.”
I watched them for a moment until they were out of sight.
“Did you just say assistant? What am I really here for again?”
He turned to me, a smirk on his face. “Now listen, Aria, because I'm only going to say it once.”
I stared at him, giving him my undivided attention.
“You are not here as a maid but my property. I owe you but consider yourself lucky because you are more valuable.”
“Are you kidding me?”
That question was supposed to trigger him. Unexpectedly, he smiled.
“You belong to me, Aria, and I can do whatever I want with you. Chloe is human and she will keep you busy so you wouldn't have to be lonely in a house full of wolves,” he explained as if he was doing me a favour.
Maybe he was. I mean, my stepfather already sold me to him. So, technically I belong to him. But that doesn't give him the power to do as he wishes.
“Now, you hear me!” I started stubbornly even though I knew how it would all end. “You don't owe me. Just because you brought me doesn't mean_”
“Means much more,” he cut in, his voice deep. “And when I say that, I mean every part of you.”
Is he insane?
“You brought me, alright, but that doesn't give you any right to my body! What did you bring me here for? To be a call girl for you?” I flared up.
A smile, however, was still dancing on his face. I feared he wouldn't say anything because well, he was a man of many actions and not words.
And I was right because he suddenly tilted his upper body towards my direction.
Even though he already said he wasn't going to kiss me, I knew better than to believe him. So, I decided to make a run for it.
However, his strong arm was suddenly around my waist and holding me in place. No matter how much I pushed into him, I couldn't get free.
Was he going to kiss me again?
