Chapter 55 One More Secret

Chapter 55 One More Secret
“Ugh..” I groaned as I got up. I ate that way too fast.

“I have never seen someone eat food so fast in my life, are you going to make it?” Luka tried hiding his amusement from me. “Maybe we need to stay here if you’re going to be sick.”

“NO!” I yelled without thinking. Luka broke out laughing at that.

“Don’t worry, I won’t actually do that. I know how much it means to you.” Luka patted me on my head. “I have to go check on a few things before we go, take your time and come out to the living room when you are ready.”

I was so excited that I was going to see Jess and My mom, I realized I didn’t have my phone. I would have to check with Luka if he knows what happened. Last time I remembered having it was when Matt and Kayla came and got me from Luka’s truck. I handed it to them but I don't remember ever getting it back, I would have to remember to ask about that.

I was already dressed, so I paced the room. With each step anxiety clawed at me. I fixed my hair seven different times. I felt different. Would Jess notice? What would I say to her? A thought nagged it’s way through my anxiety riddled mind. There were laws and rules? What were they? I remember Chad saying something about them having laws, That’s why he couldn’t Kill me. He had Monica try.
I gave up trying to do something with my hair I liked. Walking out of the room I followed the sounds of people talking. The House felt like a home of sorts. Could I call it my home, I didn’t have one anymore. I wasn’t sure I belonged anywhere anyways.

“Morning, Little Hippie” Phil greeted me as I walked into the living room.

“Morning, Big Hippie,” I respond as I entered into his big bear hug. I instantly feel like a little girl again and my world is whole.

“Hippie?” Phils voice filled with concern. I hadn’t realized I was crying.

“Sorry… It’s been a lot. It just felt nice to have something still feel the same.” I admitted.

“Oh, Hippie. No matter what happens, you will always be family.” Phil squeezed me harder. I knew without a doubt no matter what happens next The Halloways would be there for me.

“We will always be here for you sweetie.” Mary Moved over and rubbed my back.

“You are family. Always have been, always will be.” Joel rested a hand on my shoulder.

I felt the familiar love from all of them, It still felt like something was missing.

“Jordan?” I lifted my gaze to everyone. No one said anything but something unspoken flashed in everyone's eyes. Strange. I didn’t ask, I don’t know if I can handle much more life altering changes.

“I am here,” Jordan's voice broke the silence.

I broke the embrace the rest of the Halloways had over me and moved towards Jordan. He was standing in the entry way hands in his pants pocket. He looked tired.

“Jordan” Joel warned.

“Jordan…” I repeated. I ignored the clear warning from Joel and moved forward.

I stopped about three strides from him. I wanted to hug him, tell him I didn’t mean to hurt him. The words got stuck into my throat. I just looked at him then back down at my feet. I didn’t know what to do.

Warmth and the smell of the Ocean on a rainy day hit me.

Jordan

“I’m sorry…” I whispered. I wasn’t sure if he would hear me.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. I am the one who needs to apologize." Jordan squeezed harder. “I have been stuck on my own problems when you needed me the most.”

“I’m just glad you don't hate me.”

“I could never hate you,” Jordan reassured me.

RING RING RING

Phones started going off all over. Something was happening.

“Here.” Jordan handed me my phone.

“Oh my god thank you.” I grabbed my phone and saw Jess’s name lit up the screen.

“HEY!” I couldn’t hide my happiness of hearing her voice.

“Hey! You need to get to the hospital ASAP. Your Mom is awake… Or was?” Jess was happy to hear me but panic was also in her voice.

“What?”
“Yea. I guess she woke up and was freaking out. They had to sedate her. Maybe if you come here and she sees you, she might calm down.” Jess explained.

“Okay. Let me Find Luka and get a ride. I will be there as soon as possible… How are you?”

“I’m fine, How are you? Joel told me that Chad had some chick attack you? So they took you to Luka’s so he couldn’t get to you? Why did he attack you?” Jess asked.
I was glad Joel told her mostly the truth. It was something that would somewhat make sense.

“Honestly. I am not sure. I think he thought that might start something with the Holloways and Luka? Other than that, I have no clue.” I explained. I still didn’t understand the laws fully so it wasn’t a complete lie, but just enough of a lie that she couldn’t call me out on it.

“That’s crazy. I am glad you're okay. I’ll let you go so you can get ready and get down here, I will call if anything changes okay?” Jess assures me.

“Thank you for that. I am pretty much ready to go now. Just have to figure out where Luka is in this house.” I explain.

“When things chill out for a moment. You have to tell me how things are going with him.” Jess’s teasing tone made my face redden.

MATE

That one word made me flush with need and anxiety. It was a strange combination for sure. But I knew what the media made that word mean when it came to the supernatural, but did it mean the same thing? I was afraid to find out, but I knew I had to do it soon.

“Helloooo? You there?” Jess called out, I can’t believe I just zoned out like that.

“Ha sorry!” I blurted out embarrassed.

“Haha, okay. I am gonna go now. See you soon.” Jess laughed as she hung up.

Once my phone was back in my pocket. I looked around. The Holloways seem to be busy talking and looking at their phones. Maybe something business related. So I moved out of the room without saying anything. I walked down a random hall, I should have waited for Luka . I felt a strange invisible tug. So I followed it. It lead me to a room on the upper floor.

A muffled sound came from the other side of the door. Like someone talking.  I stood unsure what to do now that I was in front of the door. Was it Luka or someone else staying here. I stood there for a few moments contemplating on if I should knock. Before I decided to turn around or knock the door swings open.
