Chapter 28
Isabella's POV
“Amelia just gave birth to a pair of twins,” I said and I felt his body jerk.
Damien looked at me and my eyes widened in shock. Maybe telling him about the twins wasn't such a good idea.
“Uhmm…. I mean… it's nothing right?” I asked with uncertainty. I had thought he would be furious and would want to cause trouble for Asher but he seemed more…. Heartbroken.
I was surprised and I felt a very uncomfortable feeling rising in my chest.
Damien looked away and remained silent for a while and then he spoke, his voice monotonous and cold or at least I expected it to be until I actually heard him speak in a soft and worried tone,
“Are they alright?”
I was speechless for a while, I didn't know how to react to this sudden change and I had a really bad feeling about it. I was hesitant but then I decided to just play it casually.
“I don't really know, I didn't have a good look.”
Damien sighed and I felt my heart skip a beat again, I felt…… I didn't know what I was feeling. I wanted to be happy that Damien was finally showing signs of returning to normal or even better but I couldn't
I wanted to be angry at him for not showing such a change towards me or anything related to me for that matter but I couldn't because I loved him.
I was confused, I didn't know what to do with all of these emotions I was feeling. I stood up and excused myself, I absentmindedly walked back into the castle.
I searched and searched within me, looming for what to do with all these myriads of emotions I was feeling but I couldn't. My world was falling apart.
I had realised immediately then that Damien probably knew that the twins could be his. I wasn't sure if he was a hundred percent certain but I was sure he was suspicious.
And then it all clicked, it was her, it was all Amelia's fault. She had come once again to take another one of my love from me. Asher wasn't enough for her and now she wanted to use those twins to pull Damien closer.
I had to do something, I had to make sure something like this couldn't repeat itself. I had to keep Damien for myself. If he left, I didn't know what I might do.
I paced around the room, racking my brain for what to make of the situation but I couldn't come up with any solution. I had to do something, I had to.
I looked out the window of my bedroom and I saw Damien, he had a long expression on his face but even from here, I could tell it wasn't as cold anymore.
He was becoming soft and Amelia's fangs were slowly sinking into his flesh. That witch!! If she thought I would just wait and watch her take Damien away from me then she better watch out.
I walked into the shower to cook myself down. When I was done, I changed into another dress. This one was a loose white gown with flowery patterns.
I picked up my phone and dialled a number, it rang for a few seconds before it was picked up, and a mature feminine voice sounded out from it.
“Let's meet up, I need a favour from you.”
“Okay, my lady.”
I hung up and picked up my keys. I looked out the window at Damien once more and I gritted my teeth, then I walked out of the castle and into my car. I wasted no time before I drove off.
About 30 minutes later, I arrived at a chapel. I walked in casually and headed towards the back of the altar. The chapel was mostly empty except for a few people who were praying.
When I got to the back of the altar, I met a priest who nodded at me. He was one of my pawns and he knew the reason why I was here. He led me to the confession cubicle and I waited for him to leave before I entered.
I couldn't see the person on the other side of the cubicle but I didn't need to. I knew who I was expecting and I had enough power here to make sure anyone who tried to play games with me didn't live to see the next day.
The moment I sat down, I cleared my throat and adjusted my dress. I was quiet for a while X deliberating on what to say. I wasn't nervous but I wanted to be as concise as possible.
“How loyal are you to me?” I asked straightforwardly, the person on the other side of the cubicle knew better than to lie to me when I was this serious.
“How could you ask such a thing, my lady?” The person's voice sounded troubled and shocked. I could sense the disappointment and the feeling of betrayal the person felt but I couldn't care less, what I was about to ask them to do was far too important to mess up.
“I'm about to ask you to do something very dangerous and important and I will not let anyone mess it up so I need you to tell me… How…loyal…are…you….to…me?” I spoke slowly, enunciating each word clearly.
“I would kill for you, my lady.”
I smiled at that response. The voice sounded firm and determined and I knew that I still had my loyal follower. I felt a bit at peace knowing that this mission would be completed even at the risk of losing their life.
“Good, because that's exactly what I want you to do for me. I want you to kill someone or some people.”
“I'm listening my queen.”
My smile vanished and my expression became serious. I stared maliciously at the empty space in front of me as I spoke my next words slowly and clearly without any hesitation.
“I want you to kill Amelia and her twins, no matter the cost.”
