Chapter 0232
"It can't be cured because it is not a fucking illness. Your delusion though, I'm sure they have mental institutions like this for that." "Don't speak to me like that." he growls, sounding enraged.
It is the only real emotion I have seen him shown in a while.
"I had this all mapped out for years. We ran the tests over and over again until I was sure they perfected it." He explains animatedly, smiling broadly like a child given candy.
I turned away from him, ignoring whatever crazy shit he was about to spew.
"Did you think I found Feyre interesting after you sent her away?" he laughs loudly. "I knew who she was the moment she set foot in the pack. She just made my job easier because if she wasn't your mate, I didn't know how I would have gotten her to take my offer."
"What offer?" I went back on my word to ignore him, but I had to hear this.
Lucien laughs, looking at me like I was the dumbest creature in the world.
"What made you think she just came back on her own after you threw her out like she was nothing? She has pride, and self-respect." He pursed his lips. "Maybe light on the self-respect since she stupidly risked her life when she heard you were in danger and she came running, like the perfect little loyal mate."
"How did you get her to come back?" I asked, images of how I had treated her the first time coming to my head.
I never expected her to come back a second time, after I ignored the bond. But she did, and she asked me to reject her. I remember feeling something right at that moment, though I told myself it was annoyance. It wasn't. I can see it now, even though I was too blinded by my stupidity to see it then.
It hurt when she threw the bond in my face. When she came back a third time, I just reached the conclusion she wanted to be a luna, like everyone else and I vowed to never give her that.
At what point did my father poison her mind to get her to come back? I knew he had something to do with it, but I never really paid much attention to how he did it.
It wasn't the first time he has done something like try to match me with a woman.
"Everyone has what they most desire in the world. Hers was to find out the person that killed her parents. I offered to tell her who did it." He chuckles. "For the longest time, I worried about what I was going to tell her. I even considered you, it would have been the perfect way to end this charade, and I'll see if she will come for you." he shrugs, like it was nothing.
It probably is nothing compared to other terrible things he has done.
"I knew you would have ended her life without a second thought. It would have been the perfect way to do what I wanted with her body and get the cure for you. I never thought you would go and fall in love with her." he frowns. "Once again, you acted weak just like your mother."
"She was stronger than you'll ever be." I say without missing a beat.
He roars and lunges at me. I don't blink when his fist collides with my jaw and I taste blood in my mouth, I just spit it out and go back to staring at him. Garnering all the hate I have been feeling toward him for years.
"You always knew that. You couldn't be a man, not like she was so you cut off her wings. Still, she soared above you and you couldn't handle that, you turned to other women and it still didn't break her. Did you kill her because of that?"
