CHAPTER 23

Loud music greeted me as I entered the club. Dancing, drinking, and there is almost undressing due to kissing.

I walked into the crowd wearing my red fitted dress paired with my black stilettos.

"Biiiiiitch!" she shouted and hugged me.

"What the fuck Ayesha!" I said annoyed, replaced by laughter.

"My God girl! You're so sexy. Is that what America can do?" she said as she crawled her hand around my waist.

I laughed and slapped it. "You look like a pervert," I said as she just laughed.

"Let's go to the VIP room. Azaia is already there," she said and turned me around.

"It's good that auntie allowed you to come to the bar," Ayesha said while opening the wine we were going to drink. She and Azaia were side by side while I was separated from the one-seater couch.

I just frowned and rolled my eyes at him. "I'm old enough Ayesha," I reminded her.

Azaia and I chuckled and poured a drink. I picked up the glass and leaned back on the sofa.

"So how's life?" Ayesha started the conversation.

I glared at her and smiled. "Better," was my simple response then I gulped down the wine I was holding.

The bitterness of the wine closed my throat.

"You? And you?" I asked and glance at them. Ayesha shrugged before taking her shot, while Azaia waved her glass and smiled, signaling that her days were going well.

"Same old shit," Ayesha replied after putting down her glasses.

The three of us laughed as our eyes met.

"The way we ask questions here, it's like we haven't seen each other for a long time," I said while pouring our glasses.

"Hey sis, we haven't seen each other for more than two months," Ayesha laughed and Azaia nodded.

All I could do was shake before taking the glass again and leaning back.

"Adrian?" Azaia asked simply.

I immediately smiled when I heard his name.

"House," was also my simple response as I rotated the glass I was holding. I watch the hailstones sway as I moved it.

"It's been four years. What are your plans?" Azaia asked seriously, which calmed us all down.

"I honestly don't know" I confessed then drank.

"He already knows," Ayesha said, starting another matter.

I sat down properly and looked at her. She looked seriously at her glass before turning her gaze to me. Azaia was motionless; I knew she already knew it.

"Well, just last night." Ayesha added then drank her wine.

I let out a deep sigh. "What happened next? What did he say?" I asked.

"Is it wrong to be happy with the sadness of others?" instead of answering that, Ayesha just threw me another question.

She poured the wine into the glass again, but this time she filled it full.

We would definitely be intoxicated. I saw Azaia gasp, but in the end did not object to what Ayesha was doing.

"Not all happiness can be found in things that are happy. There are times when we become happy because of the downfall of others. Same idea as you can't see all the sadness in things that are sad. Sometimes you are sad, even if you succeed." I explained seriously and took the glass.

She just laid the glass on the table, then leaned on the sofa. I heard her chuckle as she looked up.

Azaia shook us at the same time and poured more wine into the glasses.

I closed my eyes tightly, as wine burns my throat.

"I managed to hurt him. I should be happy, but why did I feel sad instead of happy?" she said softly, just right for us to hear.

I did not answer that because I knew she was the only one who could answer it herself. Maybe Azaia thinks the same way, so she didn't even speak.

"Let's just dance. I haven't been able to hang out in this kind of place for a long time." I invited them both.

"That's right. It's too early for drama." Azaia laughed and stood up, waiting for the two of us.

"Yeah, why did I forget we could be here to have fun?" Ayesha laughed and we both stood together.

Azaia immediately dragged us out of the room to keep up with the dance floor.

I could feel the sparkling wine we drank earlier. It was just right to enable my dancing.

Laughing, we moved our waists. Accompanying the swing of music. Screaming with each rising tone of the song.

I just laughed as I looked at my two companions. I could've never quite imagined that the former nurse I employed would now be our friend. This is just proof that destiny is very playful.

"Have you heard anything from him?!" I heard Ayesha shout at me.

I shook my head as I continued to dance. I laughed incessantly when Azaia bumped into me with her ass.

It has also been four years since I went to America. I deactivated all my accounts, and anything that could be communication between the two of us. I also never heard about him. Why would I? The two of us are separated.

"Look up!" Azaia suddenly grabbed me and Ayesha.

Surprisingly, we obeyed what she said.

"Oh my gosh, girl. Your ex-husband is here," Ayesha said in shock as she stopped dancing. So did I.

I almost fell as I stood when his eyes met mine.

Andrei...

He leaned against the railings while his green eyes looked at me. He was holding a glass, that I think contained the wine, that he was drinking.

I swallowed my own saliva when I saw the opening of these three buttons enough to see his captivating chest. I immediately averted my eyes and went back to what I was doing, dancing.

"Dance. He might think it's a big deal that he's here," I whispered hard to the two which they did immediately.

I just closed my eyes to the irritation and tried to restore my former energy.

"What the fuck is he doing here?" I said, annoyed, just enough for my two companions to hear.

They shrugged at the same time.

"Bitch, like you, we didn't even know what he was up to. Affected?" Ayesha laughed teasingly.

I took a deep breath and stared at them.

Laughing, Azaia grabbed my waist and squeezed it.

"Dance Cassandra. Don't give a damn about him. So what if he's here?" Azaia said.

I tapped her hand and laughed too.

Yeah right. What if he is here now? We are separated, and we have our own worlds.

I don't know if our trip was just strong, or if it was really an effect of what we drank.

I swayed my hips in a captivating gesture. Regardless of what I saw earlier.

We stayed for a few more minutes on the dance floor before deciding to return to the VIP room we had taken.

We ordered three bottles of rum, and we were also accompanied by tequila.

"Do you have a driver?" I asked while leaning on the couch, only a bottle of rum was left over from what we were drinking.

I started to turn around so I kept my body leaning.

"Why?" she asked.

I just slapped my forehead and yelled at Ayesha who was laughing looking at me.

"Fuck you, Ayesha," I said in frustration.

She laughed while Azaia remained amazed.

"Get a man on the dance floor Azaia. HAHAHA!" Ayesha laughed.

"And why the fuck would I do that?" She asked, a mixture of shock and astonishment in her voice.

I was just shaken. Confused whether to laugh or pity her.

"We fucking need a driver," I said without hesitation.
