Chapter 80 Bernard Arrives

Lorna rolled out of bed at 7:30 in the morning. After a quick wash, she headed downstairs for some breakfast.

Today, she was flying solo at the dining table. Bernard had taken off early for reasons unknown.

She had just finished eating when someone from the Supernatural Affairs Bureau showed up.

"Mrs. Allard, there's a guy named Philip outside who wants to see you," the housekeeper informed her.

"Let him in," Lorna said, straightening her clothes.

Philip walked in, with an officer who had been with Charles before.

Lorna looked surprised, "Why are you two together?"

Philip grinned, "You didn't know? The Supernatural Affairs Bureau is on this case now. I bumped into Mr. Green's people on the way, so we came together."

The officer cut to the chase. "Ms. Martin, Zachary's condition has gotten worse. What should we do?"

Lorna asked, confused, "What's the public opinion like now?"

"Almost all online platforms have calmed down. Some big influencers even started live streaming, donating their earnings to charity in Zachary's name. Things are looking up," the officer replied. But Zachary still hadn't woken up, and Charles was really worried, which was why he sent him here.

Lorna was puzzled, "Let's go and take a look."

The officer drove them to the hospital.

By the time they got there, it was almost nine o'clock, leaving an hour and a half until Chloe's deadline.

"Something's off. Did anyone strange come by yesterday? Or did any familiar faces act weird?" Lorna asked, noticing Zachary's darkening complexion. Despite the six people connected to him sharing their vitality, the conversion of death energy was slowing down.

Charles, sitting on the floor, looked exhausted but forced himself to stay alert and spoke to Lorna, "Ms. Martin, only people from the Supernatural Affairs Bureau came by yesterday. There was a captain named Daniel and a young colleague—I can't remember his name. But as they were leaving, I noticed a strange black symbol on his hand. When I tried to call out to Daniel, I found I couldn't make a sound."

Recalling the events of the previous day, Charles still looked terrified.

Lorna's heart sank. This was bad.

She immediately checked the entire room and finally found a small piece of gravel by the window.

A normal person would have overlooked it, but this small piece of gravel was blocking a hole in the broken window.

Lorna removed the gravel, revealing a tiny crack in the glass.

"Ms. Martin, will this affect anything?" Philip couldn't see the problem.

Lorna nodded, "Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't matter. But now the entire room is filled with dark and death energy. This gravel may seem insignificant, but it can draw in elemental forces from outside, disrupting the energy flow in the room and putting pressure on Zachary's consciousness, preventing him from waking up."

As she spoke, she took out crystals and gemstones, quickly scattering them around the room in what seemed like a random manner but actually formed a magic circle. This circle quickly gathered the elemental forces in the room and separated them from the internal energy.

At the same time, she placed a Space Scroll on the window to block external energy from entering.

After that, Zachary's complexion finally began to improve.

The luck vortex above Zachary's head began to spin rapidly, and the dark energy in the room swirled around the group, with the death energy visibly decreasing.

Lorna, Philip, and the others were anxious. Just before Chloe appeared, the last trace of death energy in the room dissipated.

Chloe, who had just stepped out of a black hole, looked exasperated.

"You're cutting it really close, aren't you? You actually managed to save him," Chloe said, wearing a long rose dress with long black tassel earrings, her enchanting face showing a hint of helplessness.

Lorna finally let out a sigh of relief. As long as the death energy disappeared, Zachary would be saved.

"Alright, his name has already been automatically removed from my list. That's one less job for me. You owe me," Chloe said, taking out her phone to see that the system had already canceled the task.

"Lorna! I'm here, need any help?" Marc suddenly burst in, wearing a white shirt and jeans, looking youthful and energetic.

Seeing the group frozen by the bedside and Chloe in front of him, Marc immediately quieted down.

He quietly turned around and tiptoed towards the door, eyes closed, muttering under his breath, "She can't see me, she can't see me."

"Stop right there," a pleasant voice called from behind Marc, with a hint of cool amusement that was impossible to resist.

Marc obediently turned around, forcing a smile as he greeted, "Hello, Chloe!"

"Here's your compensation," Lorna said, suppressing a smile and ignoring Marc's pleading eyes.

"Great, I like it," Chloe floated over to Marc, circling him with interest in her eyes.

"Why don't you two exchange contact information, and then he can take you on a trip later? He still needs to take me back today," Lorna said with a smile, buying Marc some time.

Chloe said, "Phone."

Marc obediently handed over his phone. He wasn't sure what Chloe did, but somehow they became friends on Facebook.

"Alright, you can get back to work. I'm going to sleep. Marc, wait for me," Chloe said, yawning elegantly as she walked into the black hole filled with mandrakes. Just before she disappeared, a crisp snap echoed in the air.

The group of people by the bed immediately resumed their activities, unaware of anything that had happened. Chloe found it troublesome and had frozen time directly.

Lorna smiled lightly and walked over to Zachary, checking his condition.

"Alright, you can get up now. Zachary is about to wake up," Lorna told Charles and the others.

Marc quickly stepped forward to help them up. After sitting cross-legged for a day, their legs were numb.

Lorna held a Purification Scroll between her fingers and waved it around Zachary. The scroll absorbed all the remaining dark energy and completely removed the rune mark behind his ear.

"Mr. Green, it's done," Lorna said, stepping away from the bed to give them space.

Zachary, lying on the bed, had regained his rosy complexion. His eyelids fluttered, and under the watchful eyes of the group, he slowly opened his eyes.

"Zachary? You're awake! How do you feel?" Charles asked, watching in amazement as Zachary, who had been on the brink of death, now came back to life.

Zachary, still confused, took a moment to feel his body. He tentatively moved his hands and feet, realizing he could move.

Excited, Zachary sat up. "I'm okay! I can't believe it, I'm actually okay!"

Seeing that they were about to have a long conversation, Lorna signaled to Philip, and the two of them went to the adjacent ward.

In the adjacent ward, several patients lay in bed with oxygen tubes, still unconscious.

Lorna used the same steps to purify their dark energy, and their complexions quickly improved.

The staff in the hospital's monitoring room noticed the patients' conditions improving, and then a group of doctors rushed in with equipment.

Lorna and Philip quietly stepped aside, watching the doctors measure the patients' vital signs with various machines.

"Oh my God! It's a miracle! They're all waking up!" The doctors' faces lit up with joy and disbelief.

Several departments were ready to declare them brain-dead, but now a miracle had occurred.

"Lorna! Bernard is here!" Marc's loud voice echoed through the two rooms.

Lorna was pleasantly surprised, looking at the tall figure walking towards her from the end of the hallway.

She quickly handed over the remaining tasks to Charles and Philip.

The people from the Supernatural Affairs Bureau were capable and used to handling such situations.

"Bernard! What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be in a meeting?" Lorna was genuinely happy, running a few steps to Bernard's side.

"Didn't you want me to pick you up? So here I am," Bernard said with a doting smile, though he looked a bit tired and sleepy.

Lorna shook her head with a smile. "You're such a good sport! Now that everything's sorted out, let's go see that movie!"

They had tried to go to the movies several times but had always been interrupted by other matters.

Bernard put a coat on her, as it was a bit windy outside today.

Lorna smiled sweetly and instinctively slipped her hand into Bernard's hand.

"Alright, let's go," Bernard said, smiling as he adjusted her collar and led her outside.

"Wait, Lorna! What about me?" Marc asked, somewhat exasperated.

"Go back the way you came," Bernard said without turning his head.
