Chapter 81 I Want Lorna to Accompany Me
Bernard took Lorna to this swanky, custom restaurant.
Lorna's eyes lit up when she saw the spread.
"How'd you know I love spicy food?" Lorna had never told Bernard about her food preferences.
But he had figured it out, scoring major points with Lorna!
Bernard grinned and handed her a piece of spicy beef.
"You always go for the heavy-flavored stuff and load up on the chili dishes. It's kinda obvious!" Bernard said casually.
Lorna munched away, thinking about the dating tips Clara had given her.
Lorna clearly remembered Clara saying that it was rare for a guy to notice a girl's likes and dislikes, and if he wasn't interested in her, he wouldn't even remember what she wore that day.
Lorna watched Bernard, who was carefully cracking open a lobster claw for her, his eyes focused on the task as the rich aroma of garlic butter filled the air.
"Bernard, have you never dated before? How come you seem so good at this?" Lorna asked with a smile, her cheeks puffed out.
Bernard paused and looked up at her.
"No, isn't this what everyone does? Isn't this how people in relationships act?" Bernard looked a bit puzzled.
Lorna just smiled and put his favorite shrimp on his plate.
"You should eat too." Lorna moved closer to him.
The restaurant was perfect, except the table was too big. They were so far apart it was hard to hear each other.
Lorna silently grumbled and mentally blacklisted the place.
"Alright, let's eat up. After this, we're catching a movie." Bernard had already booked the tickets.
They finished their meal, chatting and laughing, and then headed to a nearby theater.
It was a horror flick, and the cinema's atmosphere was on point. When the ghost crawled out, cold air blasted from under the seats.
Lorna watched as Bernard, clearly freaked out, clung to her arm, making her laugh so hard she almost doubled over.
"Bernard, if you're scared of horror movies, why'd you pick one? Hahaha!" Lorna said, earning an exasperated look from Bernard.
Lorna stifled her laughter and pulled Bernard closer, patting his hand reassuringly.
"Don't worry! I'll protect you!" Lorna looked at the obviously fake ghost on the screen. While screams echoed through the theater, she felt nothing.
As an occultist, she had seen things way scarier than anything in the movies.
She patted Bernard like comforting a child. "Alright, the ghost is gone. Don't be scared."
Her laughter barely contained, Bernard, embarrassed, pinched her waist.
Lorna yelped, "Ouch! Cut it out."
They finished the movie, laughing and joking, with one too scared to watch and the other too distracted to pay attention. By the end, neither had a clue what the movie was about.
Back home, they flopped onto the living room sofa.
Bernard rarely let himself be this relaxed and lazy, not caring about his image.
"Bernard, I didn't know you were scared of horror movies! Next time I go ghost hunting, I'll bring you along. Clara says it's called desensitization!" Lorna teased, leaning close to his ear.
Bernard helplessly pushed her head away, "No, thanks."
Clara had just come back from outside and saw them being all lovey-dovey in the living room. She made a sound of disdain and said, "Bernard, Lorna! Why aren't you two asleep yet?"
It was already ten o'clock at night.
"Why are you back so late?" Bernard's voice turned cold as he saw Clara, who interrupted his time with Lorna.
"We had our internship graduation today! Didn't I tell you to pick me up on your way?" Clara said, feeling aggrieved.
She had waited at the company entrance for a long time but didn't see Bernard, who was with Lorna.
"By the way, Bernard, there's an open day at school tomorrow. Our designs will be displayed, and there will be awards. Are you coming?" Clara mentioned.
"No!" Bernard refused flatly.
"Fine! Lorna, could you come with me?" Clara bounced to the sofa and squeezed Bernard aside.
Bernard looked helpless.
Lorna smiled and asked, "What kind of designs?"
Clara enthusiastically explained, "Our pottery designs. And tomorrow, the internationally renowned pottery master Willie Reed will be there. I heard he's looking for his final and most important student. I wonder if I have a chance." Clara looked hopeful.
Willie's students were now famous artisans across the country, known for their exquisite skills. They often received invitations from museums to give talks, which greatly enhanced their perspectives and abilities.
Clara majored in pottery because she had always loved it. She was determined to study it and ended up excelling in it.
Lorna, who also had a keen interest in handcrafted pottery, raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Sure, I'll go take a look. I haven't experienced college life yet!"
Bernard spoke slowly, "Then I'll go too, to see how well you've learned."
Clara pouted, "Weren't you not coming? Now that Lorna's going, you're coming? You're so annoying!"
Bernard gritted his teeth and smiled. "Say that again, I dare you."
"Lorna, let's go chat in your room!" Clara made a face at Bernard and pulled Lorna upstairs.
"Bernard! Bring us some milk!" Clara turned and shouted downstairs halfway up.
"Getting more and more unruly," Bernard muttered with a smile, watching them go upstairs before resigning himself to get the milk.
