Chapter 79 I Have a Soft Spot for You

Delilah had barely left when Lorna turned around and saw Snow at her feet.

Lorna's face lit up. "Snow, you're back!"

Snow shook his ears, shifted into his human form, and dragged himself to the inner room.

"I'm so beat, Lorna. You owe me for this!" Snow grumbled, flopping onto the soft couch.

Lorna pulled out a Spirit Herb and waved it near Snow's nose.

"This is Moon Spirit Herb! Where'd you get it?" Snow's nose twitched, picking up the unique scent.

He instantly perked up, sitting up to get a better look at the herb in Lorna's hand.

"As an occultist, can't I have a few treasures? This is your reward." Lorna smiled, handing the Moon Spirit Herb to Snow.

Snow conjured a glowing box with a flick of his hand and carefully placed the herb inside.

"Aren't you gonna eat it now?" Lorna asked. She knew Snow's kind had three chances to evolve after transforming. The Moon Spirit Herb could boost their energy, making the evolution purer and their final form permanent.

Snow rolled his eyes. "I've almost gathered enough energy. If I eat it now, I'll start evolving. Do you think this place is suitable for that?"

Lorna realized that the elves' evolution would be strictly "examined" by fate, and successful evolution would grant them additional blessing energy.

She remembered the lightning that struck when she picked up Snow last time, feeling a lingering fear.

Lorna shook her head, looking at Snow. "Did you find any clues about the frequent demon appearances?"

Snow's expression turned serious. "I went back to the elf tribe. Some newborn, defenseless little elves have been captured by demons."

Snow had been away for so long because he went to rescue the little elves.

Luckily, the demon wasn't very powerful and was just toying with the little elves. The demon hadn't harmed them before Snow arrived.

Snow found the demon, gave it a good beating, and then sent the little elves back.

"Those demons had just transformed and kept mentioning their boss. They liked to hang out at bars. So, I followed them to different bars for several nights," Snow explained.

Lorna's eyes widened. The demons had integrated into city life much faster than she had imagined, which was not a good sign.

"On the last night, just when I was about to give up, a young woman, probably around twenty-three, walked into the bar. She went straight to a private room, and several demons followed her in. Then, about eight male models from the bar also went in!" Snow said, still finding it hard to believe.

Lorna sat on the sofa, poured a glass of Spirit Alcohol, and swirled it in her hand, deep in thought.

"Can you tell what level of demon she is?" Lorna asked.

"No, she must have something that shields her scent and energy fluctuations. She appears to be just an ordinary person, but mingling with a bunch of demons, she's definitely not a regular human." Snow, being a high-level elf, could at least tell that much.

Lorna nodded. "By the way, ten high-ranking demons have already awakened, but I don't know to what extent their energy has recovered. They are now hiding among humans and might even have replaced some."

She shared this crucial piece of information that Snow had missed.

Snow looked shocked, "High-ranking demons? And ten of them?"

Lorna spread her hands helplessly. "There's no choice. Now I need to slowly find their traces and seal them. We absolutely can't let them awaken Mephistopheles."

That would cause a huge mess.

With Lorna around, Snow temporarily didn't worry about those matters and went to admire his Moon Spirit Herb.

Lorna started making sensors with the gold she brought back from the scenic area in the inner room.

But she hadn't figured out what container to use, so she called Snow and asked if he had any suggestions.

"Doesn't your crystal bracelet have a talisman stone? You could channel the energy from the gold into the talisman stone to preserve it," Snow casually suggested.

"That's it!" Lorna exclaimed. She'd been stressing about how to get the Supernatural Affairs Bureau to help track down clues about the high-ranking demons.

The Bureau had plenty of crystal bracelets. Lorna could channel the residual energy from the gold fragments into her own bracelet and then activate the sensor between the talisman stones.

Lorna's talisman stones all had her mark and could be activated with her luck energy to sense each other.

This way, if they encountered a high-ranking demon, the talisman stone would sense the energy, and Lorna could remotely mark the demon's location.

The process was quick, and Lorna soon channeled the gold's energy into her bracelet.

With the sensing bracelet ready, Lorna sent messages to Daniel and Philip: [Put on the crystal bracelets. They've been infused with high-ranking demon's energy. If they sense the demon, they'll heat up.]

Philip was amazed when he received the message. He was impressed by how quickly Lorna had come up with a solution.

After a tiring day, Lorna finished making the sensor bracelets and asked Snow to watch the studio while she prepared to go home.

"By the way, Snow, we have a new member named Marc. He's out right now, but he'll be back soon. Make sure you get along with him," Lorna reminded.

Snow nodded absentmindedly and transformed back into a rabbit, curling up in his little nest to rest.

After having dinner at home, Lorna sat on the living room sofa, replied to a few messages, and then leaned back to rest her eyes. Before long, her breathing became even.

Bernard came home and saw Lorna curled up on the sofa, her sleeping face serene, her breathing light. With her eyes closed, she lost the independent air she usually had while working, appearing more peaceful and even a bit childlike.

It was then that Bernard realized, Lorna was still just a young girl.

Lorna's cheeks were flushed, likely from a long day, and her nose wrinkled slightly due to some stray hair. A blanket, probably placed by a servant, was draped over her, nearly slipping to the floor without waking her.

Bernard chuckled softly and approached Lorna quietly.

He crouched down, picked up the blanket, and wrapped it around Lorna, only to notice that the screen of her phone was open to their chat conversation.

There was a sent message in the chat: [Bernard, why aren't you back yet?]

Bernard was taken aback for a moment, then took out his own phone. Sure enough, he had received the message. He hadn't seen it because his phone had been on silent during his meetings.

Looking at Lorna, Bernard couldn't help but gently brush away the annoying strand of hair from her face, feeling a warmth in his heart.

It felt good to have Lorna waiting for him at home.

Lorna wrinkled her nose slightly, slowly opened her eyes, and saw Bernard's handsome face up close.

She blinked groggily, "Bernard?"

Bernard's eyes were filled with a smile as he looked at her sleepy face with affection.

"You're back? Go to sleep," Lorna said sleepily, rubbing her eyes and trying to sit up.

"Are you tired?" Bernard asked softly.

Lorna slowly shook her head, "So tired." Her soft and gentle voice melted Bernard's heart.

"Let me carry you upstairs." Bernard stood up, slid his arm under her knees, and easily lifted Lorna along with the blanket.

Lorna giggled, feeling it was perfectly natural, and wrapped her arms around Bernard's neck, leaning against his shoulder.

Lorna looked at his chiseled face and couldn't help teasing him. "Bernard, you know I have a soft spot for you."

"What?" Bernard asked.

"Bernard, I have to go to the Supernatural Affairs Bureau tomorrow to save a few people. Can you pick me up?" Lorna suddenly wanted him to pick her up.

"I have a meeting tomorrow, so I might not be able to make it," Bernard replied honestly. There was indeed an important meeting at the company tomorrow.

"Okay," Lorna said, her face clearly showing disappointment.

"Alright, get some rest." Bernard placed her on the bed in the bedroom and then left.

"Lorna, you two are getting along well. Bernard is a..." Ivan floated out, teasing Lorna after Bernard left.

"Alright, time to sleep. Good night!" Lorna quickly interrupted Ivan and burrowed under the covers.
