Chapter 43 Cooperation

Chapter 43 Cooperation
That night I couldn't sleep at all. Thinking about how the villagers will react to me after what happened earlier. And suddenly, for some reason, I really wanted to go out in the middle of the night to get some warm water.
It was still one o'clock in the morning, and I finally left the room. I had to go through several rooms to go down the stairs and get to the kitchen.
As I walked past Lucy's room, which was two rooms away from mine, I heard some rather strange noises. It sounded like a moan, and I was worried that maybe Lucy, who was locked up in there, was trying to hurt herself.
I approached slowly, opening the door to her room, which turned out to be unlocked. I was quite surprised for a moment. Wasn't Lucy being held captive and not allowed to leave her room at all? How could the door be unlocked and unguarded like this?Or perhaps someone entered and tried to hurt her?
Those thoughts kept bothering me. Even though Lucy has been mean to me, could I heartlessly leave her groaning alone in a room and pretend not to hear anything?
I closed my eyes; the door was already open and only needed a little push until I could see what was happening to Lucy. But I think I might need something I can use to hit someone if anyone really tries to hurt Lucy.
I looked around outside Lucy's room, trying to find something I could use to hit anyone who committed a crime inside Lucy's room.
Until finally, I found a baseball bat inside a rather large urn. I left Lucy's already open bedroom door for a moment to retrieve the baseball bat. Once the baseball bat was in my grasp, I counted in my head before quickly bursting into Lucy's room.
One... Two... Three... And the door opened completely.
However, the scene before me wasn't Lucy slitting her wrists or someone stabbing and strangling Lucy, but the first thing I saw was Lucy's bare back on top of a man's body. Their legs were covered by a blanket, but what fool wouldn't understand what they were doing?
At that moment, Lucy turned around, and the man beneath her also looked up to see who had just broken into the room without permission.
And that man was Andrew. The man who loudly declared in front of all the media that he loved me very much and no one could replace me, a man who did everything to get me back into his hands, and the same man who explained that he only considered Lucy a sister and could dismiss her whenever he wanted. And that same man was now under Lucy's body, enjoying Lucy's play with him. It even made my eyes widen in disbelief.
And Lucy felt no guilt at all; instead, she danced even more vigorously on Andrew's body. And that moan turned out to be created by the passionate activity they were engaged in.
I was still frozen in place, watching Andrew trying to pull Lucy's body away from his. And when Lucy was thrown to the side of her bed, Andrew ran toward me. His body was completely naked, he walked unsteadily, and he tried several times to shake his head to regain consciousness.
Andrew is clearly under the influence of alcohol right now. But seeing him approach me looking like this certainly makes me disgusted.
"Don't come any closer; I'm going back to my room. Sorry for the interruption; I thought Lucy was in pain or someone was trying to hurt her." I took a step back as Andrew approached me unsteadily.
"Matilda, please listen to my explanation." Andrew can't even speak properly.
"No need to explain; I saw it firsthand just now. Please go back to your beds, and I will leave." Before Andrew could grab my hand, I had already turned and walked away.
At that moment, I heard the creaking of the bed and the sound of someone's quick footsteps. It sounded like Lucy was trying to catch Andrew.
"LET ME GO! THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!" Then Andrew's shout was heard.
"What did I do wrong? You were the first one to approach me and ask me to do it." Lucy didn't want to be blamed.
"But you got me drunk. You did it on purpose and took advantage of the situation," Andrew said.
All that conversation could still be heard even after I went into my room. I sat in front of the door to my room, which I had locked, not wanting Andrew to chase me.
There were no tears, just a reverie over what I had just witnessed. Andrew is still my husband, and I caught him making love to Lucy. But whether I'm numb or my tears have dried up, I can only daydream now.
And the first thing that came to my mind after emptying it for a while was how I could end all of this quickly. I can't just give up; I can't just sit still and accept my fate to stay here. I have to be free even without Anthony and Collin's help.
Then suddenly a white bird came, perched on the iron railing of my room's balcony, with a rolled-up piece of paper tied to its legs. I squinted. Did that messenger bird really exist? I've never seen it in person, but I'm curious about what the bird was carrying.
I approached the white bird, and it was amazing that the bird didn't even try to run when I took the roll of paper from its leg. He's definitely an expensive bird.
And the chirping of the birds woke me up, as if they were urging me to hurry and read the contents of the letter. And I followed him.
"Mrs. Matilda, I know you're still alive, and I plan to expose the crime between Andrew and Lucy to the court, to the media, and to everyone so they can see what these two people are really like. If you're willing, I'd be happy to extend my hand and invite you to collaborate. Nice to meet you, Sarah Olsen." I was stunned. Sarah Olsen had sent me a message and invited me to collaborate on bringing down Andrew.
I clutched the letter. Sarah Olsen had a lot of evidence of Andrew's crimes that I had never known about. Even Andrew's crimes and deceptions in the business world and how he kept Lucy by his side by covering up many of her criminal acts.
Is Andrew really worthy of being tried and imprisoned?
While considering that, the bird Sarah sent was still faithfully waiting for me. Seeing the bird waiting made me feel bad, so I quickly went to reply to its letter.
However, I had just grasped a new piece of paper and a pen when I suddenly heard a loud knocking sound.
"Matilda, open the door. I'll explain everything." That's Andrew's voice, and the longer he speaks, the louder he gets, and he's trying to force the door open.
