CHAPTER 38

As Lena left, Alfred released a deep breath. He looked around to see the armed men almost close to him. He shook his head, "I'm not their priority. They can still leave me to live and go after her…" he looked at the direction Lena took. "We have to meet again, Lena. We didn't grow together, but I felt that bond. We have to live and spend time together…even if we won't have parents anymore."

His lips pulled apart slightly. He glanced around and found a heavy stone, which he grabbed.

"They can't find me either. They won't find us. We don't have to lose each other after meeting again. My mother is also waiting for me." he blinked, letting his tears roll down his cheeks.

With all his might, he threw the stone to a distance, and it rolled over, going down deeper.

He chuckled as the men felt that was the direction they took and headed towards the area. He slowly got to his feet and took the other way, heading to a destination he didn't know.

When he felt he had walked enough and had not enough strength in him, he got seated between grasses that covered him. He looked at the gunshot and bit his lower lip. If the silver melts in him, he might not survive it. Since it's yet to affect his wolf, it would be better to pull it off.

He dipped his index finger and thumb into the gunshot, swallowing every bit of his saliva to not groan aloud in pain. Gently, he got the bullet and pulled it out, giving space for blood to rush out.

Leaving the silver in him wasn't an option either, so he pulled out his scarf from his pocket and tied up the shot carefully and tight so it wouldn't bleed again.

He exhaled deeply. "Lena!!" he licked his lips and struggled to his feet to leave. He walked for some time, breathing faster like one who had a marathon.

His energy was exhausted, but he needed to go after Lena.

When he reached a tree, he leaned on it to gather enough strength to continue, but then, he was already feeling dizzy. "I know that the silver must have affected me already, but I can't die with the small quantity, right?" he sighed and got seated on the floor again.

His wolf ability wasn't effective enough for him to see clearly in the dark, but with the little insight he had at that moment, looking at the trees that covered the surroundings…. they were all rotating to his sight.

He wiped his face and bent his head, yet nothing changed.

Suddenly, his sight became blurry. He was unable to see again, and that was the most painful part of it.

His fingers scratched the floor. His teeth gritted.

"I can't die! I have to meet Lena!!" he thought, battling to not let his eyes shut.

After a long run, Lena was on the road. She squatted, her right palm on her lower abdomen as she winced silently. She gulped harder, clenched her jaw, and tightened her grip on her gown, trying to hold back the scream that would escape her throat.

It was a silent road. Since he had been standing there, no single car had ever passed. Even though she lacks the strength to keep moving, she wants to go until she reaches somewhere more comfortable to stay and relieve herself.

She lifted her head, taking a look at both sides of the road, and then she took her right.

Just as she battled with the pain that overwhelmed her, her wolf was damn weak and was unable to help at that critical time. It seemed they would die together, but she didn't wish to.

She wants to see her child again. She wants to know more about Alfred and reunite with him again, and then, be cuddled in the arms of her mate.

Stumbling on concrete, she held herself from falling and scratched her arm on the floor, leaving her with a bruise. She stood again and continued her journey, panting heavily like she had no single strength left again.

Breathing became so difficult for her that she felt her chest would explode due to the way it expanded.

Seconds had already turned to minutes. She was certain that those men would be unable to find her, and she wished Alfred was safe so they would meet again. She prayed inwardly that he would be able to get off the silver shot into his leg to be able to survive.

A car flashed a light on her face, causing her to cover her face. "I hope it isn't Tyrion. I can't suffer in all these places and then be killed…." she thought, unable to make a move as the light kept flashing.

The loud horn of a long truck drew her attention. She was taken aback as to where the truck was coming from.

She battled and opened her eyes to see the car taking the direction she was standing, and from her back was the truck that seemed to have lost its car brake.

"Moon goddess! I can't die between two vehicles…" she lamented, taking a look at the other side of the way, pondering whether to go over there and if it would be safe.

The truck was coming at a high speed, and so was the car, and she couldn't tell if the car itself lost its brake. She sneezed unexpectedly, grasping her gown. "I will cross since they are taking this side." she decided and hurried to cross the road.

The loud horn of the truck reverberated in her ear as she tried her best to hurry, but seeing the way the car diverted towards her sent quivers all over her body.

"It shouldn't be what I'm thinking. They are just after my life and want me dead…." she thought, raising her leg to climb the layover when the sudden sound of an intense speed came from the car, smashing her from below and she somersaulted into the air, landing on the car screen.

While she struggled to get herself together, a sudden hit echoed again, and she fell off the car on the floor.

Her eyes opened a bit, and the last thing she saw was the car being crashed by the truck.

"That car! Alpha!!!" her eyes shut instantly. Everything went blank.
