Chapter 51 Harrison
Chapter 51 Harrison
"No, Mr. Blackwood, I mean, I was just bringing clothes to Seraphina, um..."
Elara explained as she opened the door, practically fleeing from the bathroom.
Seraphina was still calling out, asking why Elara hadn't come yet, complaining about the cold.
Who knew why a teenager would take a cold shower first thing in the morning?
Seraphina, with her wet hair, peeked out from the door, grumbling.
"Is my house a maze?"
"Pretty much."
Elara shoved the clothes and hat into Seraphina's hands, muttered a few words, and left.
Back in the workspace, the scene from earlier was vivid in her mind.
Who knew why she instinctively said such strange things, but the feeling was indeed nice.
Lost in thought.
She noticed Seraphina leaning against the door, smirking at her, her hair half-dried, wearing a T-shirt and shorts, paired with the red hat Elara had given her.
She exuded a vibrant, sunny youthfulness.
"If you keep standing there, I'll start crying. I wish I had been as youthful and radiant as you at this age."
Elara tidied up the desk, trying to hide her nervousness, but the compliment felt good.
Seraphina raised an eyebrow, proudly saying, "Of course, I'm going to be the most beautiful woman in Vossshire. This hat slightly hides my charm, but it's nice."
"I agree. How about we go downstairs and grab something to eat?"
Elara took out a small, elegant box of sandwiches from the lunchbox, specially bought for this occasion, and opened it for Seraphina to see.
Seraphina's eyes lit up immediately.
She swallowed and said, "Your singing and dancing might not be great, but your cooking skills are impressive."
Realizing she was losing her composure, she said, "Ahem, it's okay, but it's not as good as the one in the shop. I guess I could try it."
Elara was speechless.
Who taught her this skill of saying one thing and meaning another?
Besides Kieran, there seemed to be no one else.
"Why is there another box?"
Seraphina quickly ran over and opened it.
"Is this for Kieran? Look at the design, wow, the colors, and oh... the smell!"
Seraphina lightly dipped her finger in the cake's edge and tasted it. "I specifically told you Kieran should eat less sugar, and you only put a little. Nice, you're considerate."
Elara found it amusing.
"You're my assistant, he's my boss. I brought food for you, but if I don't bring any for him, wouldn't it be inappropriate if he saw? What if he cuts my pay?"
Elara said calmly.
With kids like her, you can't just coax them; you have to explain things clearly.
As soon as she said this, Seraphina laughed and didn't say anything more.
"Let's go to the restaurant downstairs."
"No, I want to stay in the workspace."
Seraphina picked up a piece of sandwich and put it in her mouth, looking satisfied.
"The workspace is for working. Food has a smell, and if it gets on the artifacts, it could damage them..."
When it came to work, Elara started lecturing, and Seraphina didn't even bother responding, waving her hand and humming, carrying the box downstairs.
The two had a clear division of labor. In the workspace, Elara was in charge.
Initially, Seraphina would argue, but after a few days, Elara's professional training left her with no complaints.
When it came to professional matters, Elara talked a lot, and Seraphina was a bit afraid of her.
Elara followed Seraphina downstairs and noticed an elderly man sitting on the sofa.
He looked to be in his eighties but was energetic and dignified, speaking loudly without any sign of frailty.
Interestingly, Percival was sitting next to him.
After a few days, the embarrassment and frustration from that night were gone.
She even greeted Elara as she came downstairs.
"Seraphina, come here!"
Seraphina was trying to sneak down the spiral staircase but was spotted by the elderly man.
She usually acted like a tyrant in the villa, but when the elderly man called her, she hung her head and obediently sat next to him.
Elara was taken aback.
Harrison Blackwood was the founder of Blackwood Heritage Group, the true patriarch of the Blackwood family, and Kieran's grandfather.
He was highly respected in Vossshire and the entire southern region.
He had retired from the front lines over a decade ago and kept a low profile.
She hadn't expected to meet him here.
Elara realized that Percival had invited Harrison to mediate and ease the tension.
"Seraphina, have you been behaving at home? I think you should study abroad. You can't stay put at home and keep causing trouble for Kieran!"
Harrison patted her head and pinched her cheek, doting on her.
Seraphina pouted, "No way, you can't accuse me!"
"Accuse you? You're the one who accuses others, not the other way around."
Harrison laughed heartily, delighted to see Seraphina.
"You're accusing me! Kieran hired a relic appraiser and restorer, and I'm her assistant. I've been seriously learning the craft. Kieran can trust me with the Blackwood Heritage Group in the future!"
Seraphina said boldly.
"You're young but have an ambitious spirit!"
Harrison's words were reproachful, but his face was beaming with pride.
He smiled and said, "Is this Elara Voss?"
Harrison looked at Elara. "Seraphina is mischievous. Thank you for your patience."
Elara was flattered.
For him to say something polite to her was a huge honor.
It was probably due to Kieran and Seraphina's influence.
Elara quickly replied, "It's my pleasure. Seraphina is very talented. Teaching her is my luck."
"You see, she said I'm talented. I think it's the Blackwood family genes. Have some sandwiches."
Seraphina knew how to talk, praising herself while subtly complimenting Harrison's genes.
Often, the quality of flattery depends not on the flattery itself but on who delivers it.
For example, Percival couldn't say this, but Seraphina's words were perfect.
Harrison opened his mouth and ate a piece, nodding. "Elara's skills are good."
Elara was stunned, and Seraphina was also surprised.
"How did you know she made it?"
