Chapter 52 My Fault

Chapter 52 My Fault

Harrison chuckled and grabbed the smallest piece from Seraphina's lunchbox.

He broke it in half, ate one part himself, and fed the other half to Seraphina, saying out of the blue.

"As an elder, I know a bit more than you."

Percival instinctively glanced at Elara, unsure of what Harrison meant.

Such cryptic remarks often had hidden meanings.

Elara lowered her gaze.

Whatever Harrison said had nothing to do with her.

She knew she shouldn't interrupt and didn't have the right to.

She just needed to stay quiet and focus on her own tasks.

"Why act so mysteriously? Isn't it just Kieran who told you?"

"You are clever, can't fool you, huh? You two must have been pranked by her quite a bit."

Harrison pointed at Seraphina and looked at Percival and Elara, chuckling. "Elara, you must have put in a lot of effort dealing with her."

Harrison spoke to Elara but didn't address Percival, which seemed to slight him.

However, Percival was not upset but rather pleased, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes.

Harrison's words were meant for Elara, but also to reassure Percival, who saw Elara as a mentor.

It was a way to comfort both of them, indicating that Elara should just focus on her work without worry.

This was how Harrison could resolve issues between the younger generation with just a few words.

"Seraphina is talented, hardworking, and loves to explore. In a year or so, she'll have learned everything I know. In two years, she'll be my teacher."

Elara played along, saying things Harrison liked to hear.

Though it was a bit exaggerated, Seraphina's talent was indeed exceptional.

She picked up things quickly but was sometimes impatient due to her age. She lacked historical knowledge, which could only be accumulated over time.

"That flattery is flawless. Weren't you the one who couldn't flatter before?" Seraphina murmured.

Elara knew Seraphina well.

Even though Seraphina was delighted inside, she kept a straight face, especially in front of others, pretending to be calm. She snorted.

"Did you bump your head and suddenly learn how to flatter?"

Seraphina said with a smile.

Elara's head buzzed.

She instinctively touched her forehead and checked it with her phone's front camera.

Sure enough, her forehead was slightly red.

She felt embarrassed but couldn't leave in front of Harrison, so she smiled apologetically.

"Getting old, my eyes aren't as sharp. Elara, are you hurt? Should Jarvis take you to the hospital?" Harrison asked.

Elara bowed slightly.

"It's nothing. I accidentally bumped into the door earlier, just a red mark."

"Why did you bump into the door?"

Seraphina elongated her voice, hinting at something.

Anyone could tell Seraphina was up to no good, especially when she glanced at Percival.

Percival knew Seraphina was stirring up trouble again.

Initially, he didn't care, but his lips curled slightly, showing concern for Seraphina.

However, when he saw Elara's expression, her expression darkened.

Elara stood there, dumbfounded.

How did Seraphina know she went to the wrong bathroom?

Damn, was Seraphina eavesdropping when she went to the wrong bathroom?

No way, she wasn't naked in the bathroom, so how did she end up here?

"I was bringing you clothes, don't blame the innocent."

Elara responded casually, convinced Seraphina was bluffing and didn't know what had happened.

Sure enough, Seraphina pouted and said nothing more, but her suspicious look suggested she was still pondering something.

Elara began to suspect Seraphina had intentionally taken a bath at that time to create this incident.

"Why are you standing here?"

Kieran's voice suddenly appeared behind her.

He had just finished showering, his hair still damp.

He wore gray sweatpants and a white shirt, with the buttons partially undone, revealing glimpses of his chest muscles.

Thinking of the embarrassing incident earlier, Elara's face flushed slightly.

She remembered she was holding a cake for him and said.

"I was just saying hello. This... is for you. Oh, I mean, everyone. I'll go cut it."

The cake was originally for Kieran, but with Percival and Harrison present, saying it was just for Kieran seemed petty and deliberate, so she quickly corrected herself.

She hurried downstairs to the kitchen.

"What happened to your forehead?"

Kieran asked casually.

'Damn, you know very well it was from bumping into the bathroom door. Why ask? Are you trying to get back at me for touching your chest muscles?' She thought.

Elara shook her head repeatedly, internally ranting. She was about to say something when Kieran continued.

"My fault..."

Seraphina almost choked on her sandwich.

Elara stumbled, nearly falling, and hurried to the kitchen.

'You always use me as a scapegoat, huh? Percival asked Harrison to mediate. What's it got to do with me? Why drag me into it in front of Percival?' She thought.

"Kieran, how's Blackwood Heritage Group doing lately? I just arrived in Vossshire and heard quite a bit about you."

Harrison said slowly.

Seraphina, seeing that Harrison was about to discuss serious matters, wisely stuck out her tongue and ran to the kitchen with her lunchbox to question Elara about Kieran's words.

Kieran sat aside, his eyes dark, not looking at the expectant Percival or Harrison.

He frowned and said.

"Poor oversight, too many old grudges, leading to the embezzlement in Blackwood Heritage Group's core department. I made one concession, but I won't make another..."

Percival listened, realizing it wasn't what she thought.

She recalled Kieran's recent outburst at Juniper in the Blackwood Heritage Group office, rumored to be Kieran standing up for Elara.

Now it made sense...

"Alright, I'll help you this time."

Harrison's gaze fell on Elara, who was walking over with the cut cake.

Seraphina followed, holding a piece of cake, her eyes darting around, clearly plotting something.

For some reason, Harrison suddenly felt a bit dazed.

He sighed.
