Chapter 519 Revenge
Chapter 519 Revenge
Kerena's tears fell like raindrops, streaming uncontrollably down her face.
She couldn't understand. She had worked so hard to improve herself, to please them, yet she still couldn't compare to Allegra.
Why did they have to treat her this way for Allegra?
She watched as Nico suddenly stood up and headed for the door.
"Nico, where are you going?" Kerena called out, panic evident in her voice.
"Since we've broken up, it's not right for us to stay in the same room."
"I don't want to break up!"
"That's your problem," Nico replied coldly, unaffected.
"Do you think you can just break up with me like that? Do you think your parents will agree to our breakup? Nico, don't forget, it was our parents who wanted us together in the first place."
"No." Nico's voice was icy. "From the beginning, no one else doesn't deserves to be my wife except for Allegra."
"Nico!"
Nico didn't say another word and walked out of her ward.
Kerena's vision blurred with tears as she watched Nico's retreating figure.
The pain was excruciating.
She truly loved Nico.
From the first moment she saw him, she had a good impression of him. After they confirmed their relationship, her feelings for him only grew stronger.
But now, he wanted to break up with her.
They were about to get married, and now he wanted to leave.
She couldn't accept it at all.
"I don't think I did anything wrong." Kerena continued to defend herself, shouting desperately at Nico's back, "Everything I did, Allegra owed me! And now, everything you all are doing is unfair to me!"
Nico acted as if he didn't hear her breakdown, leaving without looking back.
Kerena bit her lip hard.
She wouldn't regret what she did today.
Lucius stepped out of the ward and calmly began making arrangements in a corner of the hospital.
Nico quietly walked over to him, waiting in silence.
About half an hour later, Lucius hung up and turned to look at Nico.
They exchanged a glance.
Nico said, "I'm sorry, it's my fault Allegra got dragged into this."
Lucius shook his head. It had never been about Nico; it was Kerena's inner darkness that had never been resolved.
He had thought that what he did for Kerena would slowly change her. But he had been wrong.
"Don't worry, I can handle it. I won't let Allegra suffer." Lucius didn't say anything more, just gave his promise.
Nico smiled, a bit forlornly, and handed Lucius a cigarette.
Lucius hesitated but took it.
They walked to the smoking area.
As the smoke swirled around them, Nico spoke, his voice tinged with sadness, "It's really conflicting."
Lucius frowned slightly.
"On one hand, I hope you can protect Allegra, not let her suffer any grievances, and solve any problems immediately. On the other hand, I wish you weren't so strong, so I would have a reason to get close to Allegra, to blame you for your incompetence, to vent my dissatisfaction." Nico took a deep drag on his cigarette.
His smile was both indifferent and sorrowful.
Perhaps only Lucius truly understood Nico's feelings.
Because he had once felt the same way about Nico.
He patted Nico's shoulder and simply said, "Thank you."
"You're really sneaky." Nico laughed, trying to mask the overwhelming sadness inside.
"If you had said anything other than 'thank you,' I might have fought you." Nico patted Lucius's shoulder and took a deep breath. "I'll leave Allegra to you."
"Okay." Lucius nodded and then asked, "Where are you going?"
Nico had already extinguished his cigarette and was turning to leave.
He said, "I'm going to clear my head. I'm afraid I might become like Kerena one day."
'No. You never will.' Thinking of this, Lucius returned to Allegra's ward.
Allegra was still scrolling through the news on her phone.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't angry.
What surprised her was that seeing comments criticizing Lucius more than herself made her even more upset.
When Lucius walked into the ward, he saw Allegra's face flushed with anger, looking like she was ready to fight someone.
He couldn't help but smile. As he smiled, Allegra noticed him.
Seeing his handsome smile, Allegra was speechless. "Lucius, how can you still smile? Our reputation is about to be completely ruined!"
"Don't worry, even if everything falls apart, I have enough money to take care of you." Lucius smiled indulgently.
"So you haven't found a way to solve this?" Allegra stared at him.
She was really on the verge of breaking down.
She was indeed short on money, but she wanted both fame and fortune!
She was that greedy.
"I have, but I don't know how effective it will be. There's a press conference tomorrow at 2 PM." Lucius explained the plan.
"What are we going to say at the press conference? Apologize? How should I cooperate? Is there a script? Should I cry?" Allegra asked excitedly.
Lucius was genuinely amused by Allegra.
He said, "You don't need to do anything. Just show up looking beautiful."
"I have to look beautiful?" Allegra was speechless. "Shouldn't I act pitiful to gain sympathy?"
"No." Lucius said each word clearly, "When you're with me, you just need to be yourself. You don't need to please anyone."
Allegra's heart fluttered.
She had so much to worry about.
She didn't want to lose her reputation.
But somehow, Lucius's words, like a promise, moved her deeply.
It made her feel like, even if she had to follow him into the abyss, she would do so without hesitation.
The next day, after a medical check-up confirmed she was fine, Allegra left the hospital.
As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she ran into Kerena, who was also preparing to be discharged.
Kerena was accompanied not by Nico but by Elisa.
The four of them suddenly met.
Elisa started to speak, "Lucius..."
Lucius, leaning on a cane, pulled Allegra directly into the car.
Elisa's face turned extremely pale. Lucius was increasingly disregarding her for Allegra!
Kerena watched their backs, feeling more fear than anger at this moment.
After a night, she had to admit she was becoming more and more anxious.
It felt like she had really offended Lucius, and her future would be bleak.
Moreover, she had frantically called and texted Nico all night, but he hadn't responded. In the end, Nico had even turned off his phone.
She truly felt like she had lost everything.
"Mom, have we really offended Lucius?" Kerena asked nervously.
"He offended us first! If he doesn't care about family ties, why should we feel guilty?" Elisa said indifferently.
