Chapter 520 Allegra's Dependence

Chapter 520 Allegra's Dependence

Kerena wanted to say more, but Elisa pulled her into the car.

Inside, Allegra turned to look at Elisa and Kerena.

She glanced at Elisa. Over the years, their feelings had faded.

Then she turned to Lucius.

Seeing his calm demeanor, she couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you worried Elisa will be upset?"

Lucius looked back at her and asked, "Are you worried?"

Allegra shook her head and said softly, "I used to be, but now, I think I don't care."

"So, why should I be worried?" Lucius asked with a smile.

It was clear that if she cared, he would care. If she didn't, he wouldn't have any worries.

But Lucius had been relying on the York family all these years, hadn't he? Even though the York family was no longer active in the business world, their assets were still impressive, and no one in the industry would dare to offend them. With Lucius's current abilities, the York family probably wouldn't do anything to him, but she always felt that Lucius wasn't the kind of person to be ungrateful.

"Don't worry about it. I've never owed the York family anything," Lucius said, patting Allegra's head.

He could always tell what she was thinking.

Allegra pressed her lips together. She didn't want Lucius to do anything against his conscience because of her. After all, the York family had been kind to Lucius. She didn't want people to say he was ungrateful.

At eleven in the morning, they returned to Phoenix City.

Lucius even hired a makeup artist to doll up Allegra.

Allegra had no idea what Lucius was up to. At this point, the more she dressed up, the more it would angrier people became. But she didn't refuse. Maybe Lucius was just a sucker for looks. Either way, she trusted him unconditionally. Worst case, they'd get scolded together. She had a strong mind and wasn't afraid of criticism.

At two in the afternoon, Lucius and Allegra arrived at the press conference on time.

Both were dressed to the nines. Their polished and radiant appearance left the reporters in shock.

The press conference was being streamed live online. Countless viewers were eagerly waiting for the gossip. Seeing the two of them looking so composed, the comments section went wild.

[Are you kidding me? They still have the nerve to dress up? Shameless!]

[No matter what they say, I won't forgive them.]

[This is so disrespectful! I've been so upset over their scandal, and here they are acting like nothing happened. Disgusting.]

[I don't care what they say today. I won't believe a word from these two.]

[I heard they're filming a couple's reality show. If they stay on, I'll boycott it.]

[Boycott all their shows! Boycott them completely!]

The internet was in an uproar, and the scene was chaotic.

"Mr. Orsini, do you have any explanation for the rumors about your secret marriage with Ms. Guise?"

"Are you dressed like this to show that you don't care about the online criticism?"

"Mr. Orsini, are you trying to tell everyone that the outside comments don't affect you at all?"

"Is your relationship a secret marriage, a sham marriage, or a forced marriage?"

The reporters' aggressive questions were overwhelming.

Allegra was struggling to cope. She had never faced such direct confrontation from the press before. When she was blacklisted, she had disappeared quickly, without even a chance to face the media.

She turned to Lucius. At some point, Lucius had become her rock.

Though he was looking at the reporters, he immediately tightened his grip on Allegra's hand.

The warmth of his hand was comforting.

In that moment, Allegra felt a wave of relaxation. It wasn't that Lucius gave her a sense of security or that she believed he could resolve everything perfectly. It was that, as long as Lucius was by her side, nothing seemed too daunting.

Alright, she admitted it. She had fallen for Lucius again, losing herself in the process. Despite the deep hurt he had caused her before, she had sworn never to love him again. Yet, with just a turn of his head, she was defenseless.

She was probably destined to be ensnared by Lucius. If he ever stopped loving her again, she could only blame her bad luck. For now, she wanted to throw caution to the wind.

So, in that moment, she tightened her grip on Lucius's hand, showing him through her actions that she trusted him.

Lucius's lips curved into a slight smile.

He spoke slowly, "Everyone, please quiet down. You've been talking so much that Allegra and I can't get a word in."

The room fell silent.

"Allegra and I are here today to address the recent rumors about us. We'll answer all your questions, but first, I need to clarify our marital status. Please remain quiet."

With that, the room became even quieter. The reporters, though excited, held their tongues, waiting for Lucius and Allegra to speak.

Lucius took a deep breath and said, "Yesterday's news is true."

The room erupted.

The reporters were eager to speak again, but Lucius continued, not giving them a chance, "Allegra and I are not secretly married. We just got married. We chose this approach to protect Allegra. To be precise, I wanted to use this method to bring Allegra back to me."

His words were so loaded that not only the reporters but also Allegra and the online viewers were stunned.

The comment section, which had been flooded with messages, suddenly went silent, as if the system had crashed.

"I've liked Allegra for many, many years," Lucius began to explain. "We've had many misunderstandings that kept us apart. This should have been a private matter, but since everyone is so interested, I'll share my past with you all, and with Allegra."

Lucius turned to look at Allegra.

Allegra looked back at him, her heart racing. She suddenly felt that Lucius had been hiding many things from her. She grew nervous, unsure of what secrets Lucius had been keeping.

Lucius turned back to the reporters. The previously restless reporters were now quiet, not daring to make a sound, afraid that any noise would stop Lucius from speaking.

Meanwhile, Hazel was fighting for her life.
