Chapter 83 83
CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE

AURORA'S P.O.V.

"No!"

He growled and jumped to his feet, his face was squeezed in a scowl, his eyes glaring at me. I knew this was going to happen, I didn't forget the bad blood between the two of them. Even if he agrees, I fear I will still have to convince Alpha Kieran to let Lucian into his pack. We'll face that when the time comes, right now I have to deal with Lucian first.

"Come on, its our only choice. Do you have another place in mind? That has a strong alpha and is unpredictable?"

He bit his lips.
"Of course you know I don't. But I would rather stay here or wander in the wilderness than go to that bastard for help. Why do we do need to stay in his pack anyway?"

"He already asked me to come to his pack in the first place, so I have a reason. And besides, I'm sure if we tell him we need his help, he's going to help us."

He snorted, running his hands through his hair as he paced.
"No, I don't think. I chased him out of the pack Aurora. I don't think he has a good enough compassion to let me in."

"But he will let me in."

He turned to me, his nose flaring, his eyes bright.
"That's the point, Aurora. He will let you in but he won't let me in. And do you know why, because that's been his plan all along to have you in his pack without me around."

I shook my head, letting out an exasperated sigh. "You're not sure about that."

He groaned.
"I'm sure Aurora."

I shook my head again, I moved to stand behind him and wrapped my hands around his middle, he stiffened like a stone. I leaned my face against his back, my tongue tingled with the thought of running it along his back.

"Please, Lucian. Trust me on this. Even if he proves hard to reason with, I will reassure with him. And if he still refuses to take you in, then we'll leave and wander the wilderness like you said. So, just trust me on this. We can't stay here anymore. I can't bear to look at them when I know he might come back here just because of us."

His body lost its stiffness and he sighed and leaned his head back, letting his head rest against my head.

"You know you're hard to convince otherwise right?" His voice sounded defeated and resigned, I grinned into his back, he shivered slightly.

"I know I do, it's for the best and you know it."

He sighed again, mixing it with a groan.
"Fine. You win, we will go to that bloody, annoying, son of a..."

"Lucian. Language." I warned softly.

He huffed. "Fine."

I let go of him and moved to stand in front of him, he had a deep frown on his face, his eyes not meeting mine.

"Thank you, for listening. I'm sure he's not that bad if you got to throw away the bad blood between you guys."

"As if." He snorted.

"And even though he once asked me to be his mate, then asked me to follow him to his pack, almost left with him to his pack..."

"Wait what! HE ASKED YOU TO BE HIS MATE!!!?" He roared, his eyes popping out of their sockets.

"Oops!" Realizing my mistake, I shook my head and waved my hands.
"No, no, no! You got it wrong."

"He didn't ask you to be his mate?"

I hesitated, blinking a bit.
"Well he did..."

"I knew it!"

"...but it was before he knew you were my mate. Really, honestly. You have to believe me."

He took a deep breath, his chest heaving up and down, his hand muscles flexing and moving beneath his skin.

"But he still wanted you to come to his pack."

I rolled my eyes.
"He was just being a friend. He just wanted to give me an opportunity to stay in a place where I wouldn't be treated like...trash."

A groan escaped him as he shook his head.
"Why do I feel like I made a mistake."

I wagged a finger at him, my eyes narrowed.
"Oh no mister, you cannot go back on your promise. Okay."

"Fine."

I grinned.
"Thank you. I don't even know why you are being this fussy. Alpha Kieran is harmless, you know. See you later, we'll break the news to them at breakfast. Right?"

"Right."

He looked away and folded his hands, I gave him one last smile and moved to the door.

"Harmless, you say. As if."

I heard him mumble but I said nothing.

"So...Lucian and I have decided that its time for us to leave."

The clattering of cutleries abruptly stopped, everyone except Lucian stared at me and then at Lucian.

"You're leaving?" Mirabel asked, her eyes dating to her brothers.

"Yes, we thought it through and it's best if we leave."

"But we don't want you to leave." Eli said.

"Yeah, no one is chasing you. I'm sure whatever it is, we can work it out." Jake agreed.

I smiled softly as I stared at them, Alpha Samuel looked like he wanted to say something but he was holding back.

"I know you guys want us to stay, we also would like to stay. But for the sake of your pack and the people here, it's best we leave...at least before Desmond gets strong again."

"What do you mean?" Mirabel frowned.

"Desmond already knows how many people in this pack that are strong to fight. I'm sure he already has a plan to gather more men and more power to fight again. We are not sure we'll be able to fight him like before, there may be a lot of casualties." He pressed his lips together, "We don't want that, it wouldn't sit well with our conscience."

"But..." Jake started.

Alpha Samuel cleared his throat, we all turned to look at him. He sighed and squeezed his wife's hand, a warm smile appeared on his face.

"I support you two, you can leave"
